EA carelessly put out this hunk of trash. After playing Frontline, I was expecting another well-rounded effort, but this was not it. Frontline was a much more intense and involving game whereas this one was perhaps the most laughable games I've played in a long time. The story line was pure hokum and I didn't clearly understand any of the objectives in any of the missions. In Frontline you were briefed. In this one they just assume.
The MOH series is now 4 games old (on the PS and PS2 consoles)...I honestly don't think there is any more ground left to cover in these WW2 games. EA should concentrate bringing another conflict to life. MOH just isn't fun anymore.
Multiplayer Mode Makes it Worthwhile

The game is not MOH: Frontline. That part is simple enough. While Frontline presented a big leap forward in graphics and attention to detail, Rising Sun makes only modest steps in the right direction. One reason for this may be the terrible rendering of trees and other fauna when viewed closely. While horizon-distance and even mid-range trees, plants, people, and buildings are quite realistic, many plants appear choppy or even two-dimensional when viewed up close. The close-up view of soldiers/people is just as poor; they appear fake or even grotesque (Uncanny Valley principle, I suppose).
The story line of the Campaign modes is also less intricate than the MOH: Frontline plot. Whereas Frontline allowed players to choose their plan of attack, Rising Sun drags the player in the right direction, like it or not, by setting each scene with little opportunities to deviate from the intended action. Example: sniper shoots at you, kill the sniper... now soldiers are running at you with bayonets, shoot the soldiers... etc. Your intended plan of attack usually must follow the only available plan of attack.
However, MOH: Rising Sun is worth its full price for the Multiplayer Mode alone. PlayStation did not offer two (or more) player modes in Frontline (although Nintendo/GameCube did) and the addition is much appreciated. You can fight in Free for All or a Team mode that allows you to set up teams featuring live and computer (bot) players. You may also wage a team campaign, but I didn't find that as interesting as the Multiplayer arena mode.
Its parts are not the top in their areas of gameplay, but MOH: Rising Sun is a worthwhile choice as a sum of its parts.
Give me more....

My expectations were high when I plugged this one in last week, and exactly 4 days later...I stared at the screen in disbelief. I was looking forward to taking out the evil Japanese General who taunted me below deck on the carrier. I was hoping to exact some revenge for the death of my fellow solider, murdered before my eyes....to be reunited with my brother. Dammit I was into it...! But no, the folks at EA decided to rush this half done game out before all the bugs were worked out and left me hanging.
The game keep me interested while I was playing it (the battles in the jungle were nerve racking for me), but there was that head shot that just wouldn't knock the enemy down. I'm not a video game freak and hell, I'm not even that good at these shooters, but even I never had to worry about finishing a level or taking a shot from the enemy. I knew that I could stand there and take a few shots from a bayonnet and gather my thoughts, chose a weapon and still be able to take out that pesky Japanese soldier.
I'm wondering if EA is going to package this one with a Rising Sun Part Two next year, finishing the story....
Dissapointing compared to previous MOHs

Too short and too easy (in normal difficulty mode). Rent, don't buy. I finished in about ten hours...not rushing. Enemy AI is poor and enemies look virtually identical to Allied troops. Allied squad members FREQUENTLY run into your line of fire. Enemies charge with bayonets or sabres...very cool! Graphics are as good as previous MOHs. Jungle lighting with mist/fog looks very nice! This MOH suffered because half of the original MOH team went to work for Activision on their WWII game, "Call to Duty". Hopefully they'll get it right.

What a let down! I'd have to say most of the other reviews point out all the faults. I would not buy this game...borrow it from a friend, or rent it. The fact it takes 2 shots (or more) to kill an enemy is ridiculous. The game is way to short and easy... EA obviously took advantage of all the buyers of the original by releasing this half assed version.
good FPS especially if you're a WW2 buff

The Single-Player Campaign is extremely short. On the default setting, I was able to beat the game in one night. However, unlocking the bonus features/multiplayer 'skins' was nearly impossible for me.
In any case, I enjoyed the campaign of "Medal of Honor Frontline" much better; however, I'm going to say that "Rising Sun" is a much superior title than its predecessor due entirely for its Multiplayer Option. With 2 players, you can add 6 more bots, and there's hardly any slowdown. But if you add 4 human opponents (+bots), you'll get enough slowdown to give you an incredible headache. Another problem with 4 players is that the crosshairs become more difficult to see, and a result, your aim at far-range will suffer (especially with the Garand rifle).
All in all, I'd say get this game if you enjoyed "Frontline" especially if you felt that a multiplayer option was badly needed in the first PS2 MoH.

Rising Sun was not as interesting as frontline, because I personally like the Europe war more than Asia. Good Graphics and stellar snipers.
Great Game

This was my first medal of honor game so i dont really know how to compare it it others. But i think this game is awesome. True, it is short but unless you are a complete master at this type of game, it will take you some time to beat it. Multiplayer levels are fun also. I would say this game is well worth the money.
Good game but short story

I loved Frontline, and was really looking forward to this one. The gameplay and graphics were good, but it only has a few levels. I was utterly amazed when they rolled the credits. I expected more from this. I dont know if they wasted all the space on the disk for the head to head features or what, but i wanted more levels.
I would like to say that this game left me wanting more, but i felt ripped off instead.
