Great multiplayer mode

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 0

Whenever I play this game I do the multiplayer mode. It is very fun because you can set up bots to play on your team and the other teams. You can set up team deathmatch in every map in the game. It's an awesome multiplayer mode. The campaign however can get very confusing. You can't save the game unless you find a save spot. Overall though, this game is worth buying.

OK, that's it.

The title of my review says it all. It has many pros, but also many cons. I disagree with some reviews that say that this game is horrible, which it's not. I will list the pros and cons of this game now:PROS: 1. First MoH game on consoles to fight in the Pacific part of WWII. 2. Exciting multiplayer that is a real hit at parties or group get-togethers. 3. Features two authentic Japanese weapons and Japanese grenades. 4. Levels are based on true events including a breathtaking Pearl Harbor sequence. 5. Features interactive two player Co-Op story mode. 6. Has the ability to commandeer a tank and airplane. 7. Has the ability to use mounted weapons including machineguns and a mortar. CONS: 1. Semi-corny plotline. 2. Ending leaves room for a sequel that never came and will not come. 3. Extremely too easy, in story mode I have never died to this day! 4. Very annoying bayonet people that actually chase you! 5. Very bad graphics that do not compare with this game's predecessor (MoH Frontline) which I recommend buying over this! 6. Very few levels (has about 10 levels; Frontline has about 30!) 7. Levels are short and have you saying "Is that it?" (Frontline's levels are more in-depth and make you feel like you spent your time wisely.) Overall, it's OK. I'd recommend renting it first to see if you'd spend your money on it for real. Personally, I enjoy it and play it whenever my friends come over. Think about your decision. Research both Rising Sun and Frontline to see which you want (or you can get both!) Thank you for reading my review and I hope it helps.

This was my first medal of honor game so i dont really know how to compare it it others. But i think this game is awesome. True, it is short but unless you are a complete master at this type of game, it will take you some time to beat it. Multiplayer levels are fun also. I would say this game is well worth the money.

Horrible Game

I bought this when it was first released for the PS2. I had high expectations due to its predecessor, Medal of Honor Frontline. This game was a huge disappointment to say the least. You start out sleeping in a bunk below deck on a naval ship in Pearl Harbor. The Japanese attack, and you need to get to the top of the ship and fight them off while you escape. So, the beginning of this game is not too bad, and I was mildly interested in the gameplay. Then things went downhill. I can sum it up with one sentence: Before I knew what was happening, I was done with the game. Yes, that is right: this game is so short it is not even worth the $ price tag. I beat it in about 7 hours, and that includes taking bathroom breaks and eating meals.

Summary (out of 10)

Graphics: 5
Controls: 5
Story: 3
Gameplay: 2
Overall: 3

If you want a good military shooter, try Return to Castle Wolfenstein or Medal of Honor Frontline. Medal of Honor Rising Sun is not worth the time it takes to get the shrinkwrap off.

A fun game but way too short.

Rising Sun starts out with a lot of action and maintains a good storyline all the way through. Its just too bad that the game ends right when it starts to get real interesting. There is a lot of amazing scenery and great variety where the action takes you. Overall I think it was a very nicely designed game and it would be great if they could make a part 2 to pick up where this one left off. Definitely worth playing even with the shortcomings.

This game was a big flop!!! It did not live up to Frontline. The enemies are truely idiotic. They will do suicidal charges, which are really annoying. You also have to shoot several times before they die.
The graphics look pretty pathetic. They look like stinking stagesets and the trees look 2-D or paper like.
However the missions that deal with Pearl Harbor are amazing. They feel so real. You even can shoot down planes!

Very fun but needs a tune up in someplaces.

I thought this game was pretty good. This game has great sound and the graphics are good too. The only problem is enemy machine guns are everywhere and you only need to get hit 7 to 10 times to die. The machine guns fire 10 bullets every 2 seconds, whicth is frusterating. Plus your Tompson has way too much recoil. If you fire 5 consecutive shots, you have to wait 2 seconds for your gun to recover from the recoil. That aside, this is a very cool game.

What really saves this game is the multiplayer feature.

I'll start by saying that the missions in this one leave a lot to be desired. It's at least somewhat realistic and fun at first (the imperial officers with the machetes are especially fun to try and bring down), but towards the end of story mode the Japanese soldiers are able to sustain whole magazines of ammo thrown at them, which causes much more frustration than fun. While it is true the Japanese weapons pretty much sucked in WWII, even this is unrealistic.

Also, one thing that really bothers me is that someone has yet to make a game where the guns jam. This one would have been the time to do it, because it even states in the maual the T-11 (Japanese submachinegun) jammed very frequently due to its welded together magazines. I also found the weapons to have poor sound effects, or at least compared to other MOH games.

Now the story mode is only worth 3 stars at maximum, but the multiplayer is absolutely endless fun. I'm not talking about the ability to do the story mode with two players, no, I'm talking about the custom deathmatch mode, much like a Halo or Timesplitters except with WWII weapons. The Japanese characters are hysterical, jumping up and down while gunning at you. This game mode also allows you to choose different places to battle, along with around 15 different weapon combinations. I have spent hours upon hours playing the multiplayer with my brother.

Bottom Line: Fans of Frontline may be disappointed, but people who are fans of the multiplayer kill-em-all type games will love it.

Feel like inside the movie

For those who love War Games, the Rising Sun is a great game. The player fells like a Marine inside the movie "Pearl Harbor", trying to survive the Japanese attack during II War and inside Guadalcanal. Face the levels with another friend is a great experience.
