This game surprised me when I bought it. Playing the other medal of honor games was a little to easy at times but still it made you feel like you where actually on the beaches of normandy. The opening of this game plays really good and I was surprised that before you could even pick up a weapon you had to get to the deck of the ship first. This is a lot harder than you would think it would be, having to put out a fire on the way and then once your up top firing at planes dive bombing you.
Like I said though this game has its hard points where you have to actually use your brain before you can get past the level. By far this Medal of Honor game bring the franchise forward in leaps in bounds. I was totally surprised to see that they put you everywhere in this game that you could go. You fight in Pearl Harbor first on top of your ship then firing a machine guns as you go around the level. The graphics could be a little better but I am glad that Medal of Honor is finally getting out of the european war. 5 Stars isn't enough I give this game a 6!

i rented this game with no previous experience playing a first person shooter. at the beginning, i was confused, but after successfully beating the first three missions, i was a seasoned veteran in this type of game. i beat the game in 4 days, utterly glued to my ps2 the entire time. this game is excellent, but it would be much more wise to rent it than buy it.
A fun game but way too short.

Rising Sun starts out with a lot of action and maintains a good storyline all the way through. Its just too bad that the game ends right when it starts to get real interesting. There is a lot of amazing scenery and great variety where the action takes you. Overall I think it was a very nicely designed game and it would be great if they could make a part 2 to pick up where this one left off. Definitely worth playing even with the shortcomings.
X-tremly disapointing

One of the first games i got was medal of honor frontline, and it was lots of fun. It gave you a sense of im the greatest and no one can stop me when you are running around and shooting people in that game, and it is great how you can like feel the bullet puncturing their skin and it givs you great satisfaction, and also its funny(like when you hit a kraut in the foot and he jumps around holding his foot or when they are running in to walls etc.) I got this game thinking it too would be awesome but i was dissapointed. I finished it in like 6 hours and i have to admit, it was kind of fun the first time. But in this one, you get just as much satisfaction from shooting the japanese dudes as you would standing in an empty room and throwing a pebble against the wall for the whole afternoon, and although it still has lots of the same blips that were amusing in the first game, in this one they just kinda seem stupid. Pretty much the high point of the game is when youre in the boat in guadalcanal and tis dude gets eaten by a alligatter.
TOO SHORT & THEY NEED A SEQUEL?

First of all, I'd like to say that this is a great game. The game is suspenseful, making you watch your back at first, until you realize nobody will come up behind you. The most difficult mission is the mission with the train (a lot of grenades thrown at you). But, the game is too easy, WAY too short (I finished it in 2 days, and I'm not a hardcore gamer), and the ending leaves you with a cliffhanger, so they'd better make a sequel or NOBODY will be happy. MOH: Rising Sun has decent graphics, but nothing special. They have a major clipping problem, too. The best parts of the game are the Pearl Harbor mission and the letters from home. This is the first MOH console game with that feature. However, that doesn't make up for the price. I'm a loyal MOH fan, but this game is worth $30 max.
Disappointing

Frontline is my all time favortie PS2 game, so I had really been looking forward to getting this game. All I can say is that the only thing this game shares with Frontline is the name "Medal of Honor". Boring game with lame levels and storyline make this game a terrific waste of money. Whereas I still play Frontline from time to time I will never play Rising Sun again now that I have completed it. Should have just rented it as I can think of better ways to waste 50 bucks.
I guess its okay

I got this game for Christmas and I thought the missions were way to easy. All you do is shoot people and you dont need to strategise like in frontline and its just to easy. Its just like your chopping down a tree. Your killing a living thing for no reason! In every course you just go the way your supposed to go and you shoot people along the way. Boring! And they took out weapons. They left out the Pansershcreck, the STG 44, the MP 40, and the Gehwer. The game isnt challenging at all its just boring. Your allies and friends act like kids more than proffesionals! They say, "Come on, get'em!" and "Die USOP's!" Just kid stuff. The gameplay is also kid stuff. The enemies AI is just dumb. You could be like 80 yds. from the enemy and they wont shoot at you! They charge with thier bayonets pointing at you! Its like their wondering if theyll die if the try and charge at the enemy from 80 yrds. away! Its just dumb. Dont waste youre money buying this game. The only thing thats fun is multiplayer.

This game is great, simply put. Then again, all of the MOH are great, from the first 2 on PS1, to the last 2 on PS2. Now granted, this game is easier than the other MOH, and the whole idea of using the Pacific during WWII in a game a little weird and not well thought out, it is still a great game. I reccommend this game to anyone who loves war games, as it is fun to kill Japs. I think of MOH was smart, they'd make a WWI game, or a invasion version where they go into Italy, but that's just me. I highly suggest you buy this game.
Difficult, but not impossible

I love this game because my grandfather fought in the Pacific Theater, and in a very remote way, it reminds me of the stories he told me when I was young. It is difficult for this over 40 year old gamers, but not so complex I can't eventually get through a level without giving up. Not very gory at all. Easy to get lost in the jungle, so pay attention to your compass! All in all, it is a historical based game, that is challenging, but not impossible.
Poor control, lacking realism, and way too short.

Rising Sun starts out fantastic with the re-enactment of Pearl Harbor. Things happen at a mind blowing pace and it can get down right confusing which would most likely happen in real life. The visuals are pretty good, nothing stellar but they did pay attention to environment detail. All of the environments look great and the speech in the game is great for the Japanese characters. The voice over for NPC's (non playable character) is mediocre and most of the time the audio is not matched to the facial movements. The storyline is fine as is the content of the game. The biggest problem is control; or lack there of! The control is too loose in spots and too tight in others. When you need to be precise while using a sniper rifle, the control is simply not there. I also found myself having a hard time getting out of small caves when it should have been simple if the camera angles allowed for it. The game is entertaining with all of its flaws until you realize that the amount of shots your enemy can take before being dispatched is totally unbelievable! You can quite literally put 4-5 bullets in an enemy before they actually go down. Sometimes, when you place a shot in the chest area, you find the enemy jumping around as if he was shot in the foot. There are instances where you very clearly shoot in the head (helmets fly off) and they are still standing there or charging at you with a bayonnet. Overall, the game is fun but way too short; I beat it in about 5 hours total game play with no cheats of any kind. I feel that there was a mad rush to get the game out for the holiday rush and they missed allot of details. EA games can and has done much better! Some will feel that this game is a major improvement on MOH: Frontline and in some areas it is! The franchise could achieve greatness if EA Games would just slow their pace a bit and pay closer attention to control and realism. I am sure that I am not alone in saying; I want more out of MOH games not less!!
