Utterly disappointing, lackluster

While "MOH: Frontline" was full of tension and, at times, instilled fear (i.e., distant voices, dogs barking, bullets whizzing by seemingly out of nowhere), "Rising Sun" is a major disappointment for it lacks all those elements which made "Frontline" top notch and replayable. As others have said, the soldiers have poor AI, and seem to stand right in front of you as you take aim, or look off to the side, while you're standing no more than three feet away, taking aim. In "Frontline," the enemy soldiers were far more intuitive, making you run for cover, but in "Rising Sun," you can stand out in the wide open, take time to aim, fire, reload, fire, etc. etc. with perhaps only taking one enemy bullet. "Rising Sun" feels like a video game, whereas "Frontline" feels like you're truly in the middle of a battle amid crumbling buildings. And lastly, there's no excuse for the video game's makers to use racially derogatory terms for Japanese people. if they did it for historical realism, then why have they not used similar terms to describe German soldiers? Another blemish on what should have been another great "MOH" entry.

Alright, with some flaws

Medal Of Honor: Rising sun, is a sequel to medal of honor frontline, ( a almost perfect game ). This game is pretty much the same as the frontline except there are alot more flaws.

You can do a lot more in this game than you could in frontline. First, story mode. The story mode doesn't give much and is extreemly short. It is pretty fun, but not as fun as frontlines awsome story. The A.I is not as stupid as people say, but they dont do much more than shoot.

Multiplayer is fun to play. What I also like is that you can have 1-4 players instead of just 2. You can add also bots, witch makes it allitle more fun. Theres also a bunch of and weapon sets, Fron Japenese, american, sharp shooters, ect. Theres also about 10 levels or so.

Online is fun, and I am greatfull you can use the headset to talk to people. The worst thing is, is that you have to hold down select to talk!! Select??? Its practiclly imposible to be shooting at and enemy and trying to hold down select to get help.

Otherwise it is pretty fun. Just like multiplayer except online.

My name is Mr.Bubbles if you ever see me, talk!

Overall, this game is alright, not so good story mode, great multiplayer, and good online play except for having to hold select.

High Quality While It Lasts

I am a WW2 enthusiast and this game is so painfuly unrealistic that I can't begin to describe it. The banzaii attacks are unique but no soldier ever would lunge across 20 metres of road towards me without stopping to shoot. With my shotgun I found it quite easy to take them down before they came near me. The A.I is bad and dirsepectful to real Japenese soldiers. They don't even stop to take cover to reload.
Also the game is too short and feels somewhat unfinished. You don't see if you have actually killed the Japenese fellow at the end. What if he grabbed a raft?
Some levels, such as the River Kwai one are truly amazing and are almost worth spending so much money.
The graphics are much improved, a definite step up from Frontline although the foliage is pretty crap. The weapons are good. That M1 Garand has got to best looking gun I have seen in a long time.
The multiplayer is also improved but it's basically the same as Red Faction and nowhere near as good as Timesplitters 2.

Overall, it's fun but short. Perfect for renting as I myself did. You've pretty much seen the whole package after a few days.

I bought this game for $63.00. There was only one store in my town that had it and i just bought it. DUMB IDEA!!! The graphics are amazing for the ps2 and the scripting and voice overs are great. I took this game home so excited, i poped it in and played for about 7 hours. i went to sleep and the next morning when i woke up and started to play on... i defeated the super carrier and shot down all of the planes, and the end credits roll up on the screen. I was in shock! When my dad got home from work he asked me how it was and i had to lie to him and tell him that i had only gotten half way. He would have been extremly angry if i told him i had beat it on normal mode in 7.5 hours.
Though this is the shortest game i have ever played, i have to admit, when i was unaware that i would be finnishing the game in hours, it was awsome, the graphics, the sound with dolby digital, the control was great, the ai was great, and the detail of the levels was incredible.
if you are really want this game rent it first, and if you want to prolong the moh experince play it on hard mode.

pros
incredible graphics
great ai
extreamly detailed maps
sound will knock u off ur rocker

cons
the shortest game ever (except for ghost recon)
character runs like grandma

not that great

My husband received MOH-Rising Sun from our children for Christmas. He is a HUGE MOH fan. While he didn't finish it in four hours like "Mark" did, he did finish it in less time than it took him with the other MOH games. And, just like "Mark," his jaw also dropped after destroying the air craft carrier and watching the credits roll. He called me into the living room to watch and neither of us could believe that the game was over. Very disappointing!

Great Buy

There is nothing more gutwrenching than seeing the Arizona jump up into the sky, and turn over onto its side and sink. There's flak, guns blazing, and Zeros flying all over the place. They try to make you feel what it was like to be in the battle of Pearl Harbor. They add confusion, mixed emotions, etc.

The multiplayer is quite fun. They're up to 4 "real" players, and you can have up to, I believe 10-12 bots or so. I'd highly recommend this one to your list to buy.

okay so MOH Rising Sun IS less fun than Frontline but it is still way better than so many other games. adressing the grapics issue, do you have any idea how many pixels it takes to make a jungle? this is an impressive feat considering the engine that was used. the game is short but you're pissing me off with this talk of "5" hours to beat it. on what? easy? so many people are claiming lesser and lesser time to beat it. i.e i just read a reveiw that said it took 3 hours to beat! that's pure CRAP. it took mee three hours to get through the first three levels on normal mode. Frontline is the better game but you have to give Rising Sun it's due. play the Guadlcanal mission again and tell me it isn't cool to walk through the jungle not Knowing what lies ahead. I have just beaten the entire game and found everything and achieved most medals on Normal mode. it is a very rewarding expirience. and look at the phillipine village and you will see that the graphics in the ton and baseball field are better. plus it has a kicking multiplayer(not in Frontline). so please! dont listen to the other liars, rent the game and see for yourself. I will buy the sequel and Pacific Assault for the PC.

P.S dont compare a PS2 game to a computer game there is no comparison between the capabilities of both.

Great Game

This is a great game because it has good graphics, gameplay and features. for example Frontline had decent gameplay but the graphics were a little hazy. Now MOH Rising Sun brings war games to the next level with more WW2 weapons.
