More style than ever before

I've heard a lot of people complain about the lack of plot for Devil May Cry 2. I'd like to point out, not too many people go to see an action movie for plot, so why should a game be different? Bearing that in mind, I have to say DMC2 lived up to MY expectations, and surpassed them.

DMC2 is the first two disc game for the PS2, so far as I know. This allows you to play as either Dante or a new character, Lucia. The introduction of Lucia (who, actually looks like a real woman, a plus for this female game player) is a welcomed addition. Also new is the Bloody Palace mode, which allows players to fight through 9999 rooms just to test their mettle, while earning orbs along the way. The controls have been improved, as have the graphics. Along with a few new moves, abilities like Air Hike from the original DMC are now automatically incorporated for both characters.

Gone are the (rather cheesy) lines of DMC, at least for Dante. (The main villain is another story. Fortunately, we don't have to see him too much.)

If I have one complaint, it would be that there's really not enough gore to warrant that warning on the opening screen.

If anyone is looking for a Devil may Cry CLONE, you will be disappointed. If you want a solid action game with smooth moves and solid visuals, (and a hero who kills with much style), then I highly recommend Devil May Cry 2.

What To REALLY Expect From the Sequel

This game allows you to play as two characters, Dante who relies on guns and swords and Lucia who relies on Katars (Or some other form of hand blades) and throwing daggers. Characters have the abilites to run up walls, jump in the air while shooting, as well as other acrobatic feats. The game adjusts the difficulty level to your setting which is really handy to get the most out of the gaming experience. The new environment looks huge and should allow for plenty of space for kicking demonic arse. Hopefully this game will maintain the high quality of the original, and from the looks of the screens it probably will.

Ok, this was my first time playin a devil may cry game. I bought this game today and boy is it FUN. Some people say the monsters are easily killed, those people are liars. It takes a few slashes / gun shots from your sword or gun. What im trying to say is, there is no need in renting this game, if your into action/killing games, this is the game for you.

Devil May Cry but twice as good

This sequel really surpasses all expectations. It is much better than the first. Itz not as riduculusy difficult anymore, and has many more cool moves. So what if Dante doesnt really talk? The fight system has been really improved and so has the camera. The bosses are awesome and have plenty of health to offer some challenge. The jumps have become better and Dante's motorcycle is really cool. The guns and swords have great upgrades, and its awesome being able to turn into many different types of demons. The missions are all very different which is quite suprising. The plot isnt that great, but lets face it, most good things nowadays have very little storytelling. Some things that you get to do in this game dont really need explaining. Everything is pretty much perfect except for Lucia. She really didnt need to be added. Instead Capcom should have added more gameplay with Dante. Also, the changing music gets kind of annoying because the change warns you when your going to be attacked. The monsters pop out of nowhere, but hey, its really fun killing them. There isnt even an apparent reason for this game to get an M rating. So if you liked the first Devil May Cry then you absolutely MUST get the second, or you would miss out on a great game. Happy demon killing!

This game is definatly a sequal.
Choose 2 characters ( Lucia some new girl and have a little attitude) And DEFINATLY !!DANTE!! The gunner Sword drawing maniac that has the ability to change into a
fully-fledged-demon!!! Lucia changes into a skylight angle that uses these light attacks. ( They are both partly opposite). The reback of the game is awsome.

Ok, for those who said they beat the game in 5 hours.. What level was your weapon at.. 2? lol, did you even bother upgrading them to 4-5? that would take much more than 5 hours, because youd have to collect much more orbs. Also try the game in "must die mode" Don't just play it in easy mod and claim "OHH THIS GAME IS EASY I BEAT IT IN 5 HOURS". Also some people said this game is all about jumping and shooting, Are you a f***ing Newb? You can melee the enemies too, oh and the walking on the wall sin't useless.. it's more "stylish" I didin't just press triangle randomly , i learned the combos.. here's anotehr part of the game you should try.. The only things i didin't like about this game is the lack of monsters and the lack of diffrent monsters.. also the underwater levels, wtf is that, that's juste lame but.. oh well. the 2 cd / 2 chars thing is fun, the story.. the only thing i understood is that you have to kill demons.

It's a great game buy it, don't be a newb and play it easy mod without upgrading your weapon to 3-4 and without learning the combos!

This is the real Dante's Inferno...DMC2 is a scorcher!

Let me start at the beginning.
Flash back, November, 2001.
A good buddy of mine invited me over to play some games on his kick-... set up. He was enthused to show me Devil May Cry, and I had heard so much about it, I was excited as well. As he played the game, battling the first boss, Phantom, my jaw hung open in total bewilderment. I mean, the game was flat out gorgeous and full of action. And what I had seen that day didn't scratch the surface of sheer, unhindered brilliance the game possesses. But I never even picked up the joystick.

Flash forward, February 2003.
I purchased Devil May Cry 2 and its predecessor came along with it, free.(How sweet a deal that was!) I popped in DMC first and was floored. Amazing action first hand, kept me glued to it for about 3 hours before I made myself put it down. I knew immediately it was the best single player action game I had ever played. Hitting back flips, bussin' the gat at ghouls and ghosts, totin' a sword swingin' lightnin'. Dude! You must be kidding! I haven't had this much fun playing a game since Metroid Fusion! (You like that joke?) But, it's like, my action game prayers were answered. Prayers I didn't even needed answering.

As for Devil May Cry 2, I was hesistant to pop it in, because I knew it would be better. I just didn't know how much better. I wish I had never put it in, as I haven't finished part one yet. But, folks, I pressed one button, the jump button. I was like "What the...! Are you kidding me!" I thought the trailer was all FMV footage. It was actually action scenes from the game! Everything has been totally redone, revamped, hyped up to a God-like degree. I have never seen anything so fantastically gorgeous!

Dante's moves are straight out of some Japanimation flick. He can now double jump in the air from the start. The double jumps are VERY high. While in the air he can, of course, shoot, which makes him soar even higher. What flipped me out was that he can shoot UPSIDE DOWN. Also he can perform backwards-hand spring flips to a finishing no-hand back flip to dodge enemies. With that you have a new targeting system which lets you lock onto enemies individually.(It is not a hindrance.) You don't have to keep pressing the shoot button either, you can just hold it down. While shooting and locked on to enemies you will also see him aim ONE of his guns behind him and shoot, ala 'Equilibrium'(for those who have seen the kick ... sci-fi flick). He performs no hand cartwheel flips with the ease of a gold medal gymnist on speed, and can run up and along walls reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

So how cool is that, and I found out all of this just playing through the first level. People, hear me. The darn game is TWO DISCS long! Insance fun is about to be had. Also, you can play as a beautiful young vixen by the name of Lucia as well as other secret ladies who shall remain nameless. I haven't even played as the girl yet.

The story is, if you read the book, quite believable and decent. I can't wait 'til I finish the first one so I can play DMC2 again. My faith in good gaming has been renewed. If you don't get this game, you just aren't worthy of having a PS2.

Great sequel to an already Awsome game!!

I must say that Devil May Cry 2 is one of the best games that there is to play. Graphics and gameplay make it almost impossible to top. However, there are a few flaws in DMC2. First off the camera angles are horrible. Throughout most of the game, you will probably miss important spots that you won't be able to see due to bad camera angles. Second, the story is very unclear (although I and a lot of gamers could really care less what the story is. And last, there is not a lot of moves you can do while you are in Devil Trigger (most of you might know all the moves you could do in the last game with Alastor and Ifrit). One thing that I forgot to mention that is not one of my complaints is the difficulty level. A lot of people said that the game is too easy. Well, try to beat the game on Must Die mode and see how easy it is. Overall, it's a great game only for the TRUE Devil May Cry fans!

Devil May Cry... Cool Action Game!!

I thought Devil May Cry 2 was one of the best, if not the best action games I personally have ever played. Graphics are superb, gameplay is off the hook, and more style than the original. I heard a lot of people say that the game didn't have a good story and it was too short. Well name one person that goes to see an action movie for the story. It don't happen! And the game is not short, although some of the bosses were ridiculously easy. If there is anything wrong with DMC2, it's Dante's trash-talking. He just dosen't have the attitude like he did in the first one. But other than that, DMC2 is a great game. Highly Recomended for those of you who like a cool action game.

Dante's back... and he's got some company!

Finally, the long-awaited sequel to the hit game "Devil May Cry" is finally out. Dante has returned and , although I didn't think it was possible, he's even more bad... than ever! Plus, there's a new character joining Dante in this new adventure; her name is Lucia (and ooohhhh baby she's caliente!) The only downside though is that Dantes' old sidekick demons, Alastor and Ifrit, are not around this time, but Dante does have a new devil form of his own and so does Lucia. The game also has an enhanced Devil Trigger (I'll let you find out about it yourself when you play the game). Oh yeah, there's one other thing: Trish from the previous game is not around either, and neither is Dante's old sword Force Edge.
But, at least Dante does have a new sword called Rebellion (and later in the game you get two more swords that serve special purposes). However, Dante does have his two twin pistols Ebony and Ivory, and later he acquires a new shotgun, missile launcher, and two sub-machine guns. Lucia also gets her own new weapons, but I won't spoil it for you. The story is better this time around, with more frequent cut-scenes with amazing graphics (don't worry though, they're not really long like in the Metal Gear Solid games). There are new demons to face off against- some of the enemies though aren't demons at all; even some of the old demons from the previous game appear to challenge our two heroes: Sargassos, Blades, and the Phantom. Oh boy, and wait 'till you see the final boss: it's crazy! This game is just as action-packed as the first, with all-new moves and items, so if you liked the first one don't hesitate to get this one! ...... what, you're still here? Go get the game now,...!!! You don't know what you're missing out on!
