Dante rocks!

This game is a must have for any Capcom gamers or if you just like to blow stuff away. This two disk game has an interesting storyline and longer than the first but it is still short.

Don't waste your time!

If you enjoyed playing the first Devil May Cry, and are anticipating the second to be just as good, don't even waste your money. Just rent it because it is easy to beat (about 5 hours for both discs) and it isn't worth spending $ on. Here are some reasons why:

-The story line is horrible. Granted Devil May Cry 1 didn't have a great story line either, but at least the game was interesting. This time the story line is even worse.

-The camera angles suck. The game automatically zeros in on targets for you and half the time you can't see what you are shooting at. It also makes navigating the game difficult.

-There are too many half-assed attempts at cool features in this game. There are maps that don't help at all, and a huge selection of weapons that are pointless because everything is so easy to kill. And aside from the characters and a few missions, the first and second disks are almost identical. Most of the objectives are the same and all of the bosses are the same.

There are a ton of other reasons not to buy this game. If you really want to give it a shot, rent it before you buy it. It is a big disappointment.

I picked up this game while I was on holiday in Japan in early February. One should see the promotion they had in Japan for this title, posters in most of the major train stations, TV, billboards. It was not a surprise that the first store I went to in Tokyo have the title sold out in the first day. However, I swear I saw second hand copies available almost the next day. I should of picked up this sign for a game that has something wrong.

Anyway, I took the game back to Switzerland and let my co-worker played first and after 4 hours, I was nowhere near getting interested in the game. There was no story, no attitude from Dante until much too late and the action... Secret rooms are just a simple chore of finding them. What happened to the original? First you have to find the secret places and then, there are some that requires special tactics to achieve the goal. This time, find the room and you are sure to get the prize... where is the challenge in this?

On the other hand, I have picked up a second-handed copy of Clock Tower 3 and it worked the opposite. One hour later, I was hooked. (But this is not the point of this review)

devil may cry 2

I for one was very dissapointed in this game. I enjoyed the first devil may cry cause the game was sat on one person and it remind me alot of resident evil. This new one hasn't got any real changes the camera really sucks your far off from the chacters. Fighting enemys is a breeze just walk up to them and beat them up. Boss battles are basicaly the same way easy as pie. Powering up your weapons take forever in fact you nearly through the end of the game before you can have enough red ORBS save up to power your weapons. Story line really sorry too. So if you like action games play the first one plus it is cheaper...and when you play the hard mode it is really a hard mode.

I would describe this game as boring, tedious, lame, waste of money, and most sadly a major dissapointment. I didn't even bother to finish the game and I have heard that you can finish the game in about five hours. The last level I went through I stood still hitting the box button to fire at a helicopter that was not visible. Every once in a while it would shoot a missle at me that would of course hit me because I couldn't see it coming. It didn't matter. I destroyed the helicopter quickly. The game is easy, but unfortunately not fun at all. If I were you and I didn't have the original Devil May Cry I would go buy that one. The original game rocked! If you own the original go play it again.

This game is one of the reasons why I don't even own a PS2 anymore so jus hear me out for a minute! When the first came out I bought a copy and I was lucky to find out that the first game had alot to do and the physics of the fighting moves you unleash on enemies was fantastiv but this game was a total BLAARGH! First off the graphics look worse than the first! It has only been proved with PS2 that they have some out of date game engines that they recycle for PS2 games! Thus making the game just look like a horrible demo. I don't like this game, in my opinion just concentrate on the first!

It's really cool because the devil trigger has never been cool before.I really like it!!! It's the greatest Capcom game ever.

Devil May Cry 2

This game just came out. I got it the otherday and i can't put it down. It is very very well designed. From running up walls to shooting pistols in different directions, this game has it all. It comes with two disks, and you can play the first disk or the second disk. The first disk is playing as dante, and the second one is playing as lucia. I Am on level ten and ive allready fought about 4 bosses. The game is incredible. The graphics are sweet and the replay value is boss. You can play the whole game through as dante or lucia (also you can ajust the dificulty settings) and they are 2 COMPLETLY different stories. A tipicle combo would be slashing at an enemy, then runing sideways down a wall, doing a flip of the wall (While shooting the whole time) and smash the enemy with the blade. Or if you are in a group of swarming enemys, just lock on and keep shooting at that and then since you can shoot in two different directions, start capping all the other demons closing in on you. The game has the right amount of difficulty, not to hard but much harder then devil may cry, which I beat in 3 hours. The deal with this is it focasas more on levels. You have to buy levels for your guns and swords. Dante starts out equipped with his handguns and a sword, and so far i have found another sword and a shotgun, and a heat-seeking missle launcher. This game is soo ill you wouldnt believe it. It is worth all ... because of the many many new moves, and 2 playable charactors, make it like 2 games in one. Anyone who is a devil may cry fan, Or a Capcom fan should go out and buy this game tonight.

What were they thinking? I can't believe they called this Devil May Cry! Dante is not longer Dante, he's been toned down, and Lucia's part of the game is basically a dup of Dante's, slightly changed, and a tad shorter. They've fixed some of the problems that many observed in the first edition, but they've removed some of the elements that made DMC such a great game. Combos are too easy, levels are too spaced out to have the fun of close hand to hand combat that helped make DMC great.

Its still a good game, but not nearly the caliber that DMC was. The camera angle problem was corrected, which is the reason this did not get 2 stars.

RENT/Borrow THE GAME FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY IT.
If you dont like it, this may save you $50.
If you like it, then there are numerous places online you can get it to recover the $3-5 rental fee...

this game might have a few glichtes but.the camera is against you.its wicked hard.you will get stock on the 5th level.can't deside on a shooting game or a sword game this is the game for you you start with a swod and twin pistols.i give it a 3-5.
