Very Dissapointed

Not even close to the original Devil May Cry, this one really lacks story. After you beat the game (which took me 3 days, not even playing it alot during that time) you'll be thinking "that's it"? The camera angels pretty much suck, that seems to be one of the main problems with all of the DMC games though. I should've waited till this dropped to $20 but I liked the first one so much I figured it would be worth the $50 but it wasn't. This is definately a prime example of a game not worth the hype.

This game is just as good as the original. The fact that there isn't much of a storyline means we FINALLY have a video game we can actually play and not have to stop and listen to a bunch of storyline nonsense. To me, that's a good thing.

The only bad thing about the game are the occasional annoying camera angles. Sometimes you can't see what's happening and that can be a distraction. Sometimes the graphics are dark, which again, makes it hard to see what's in front of you. Doesn't happen often, though. Pick this game up.

This game shouldn't even be out in stores it's so bad. It's to easy, to short, and it has a horrible story line. The boss fights are easy and not as cool as the ones in the fist dmc. None of the weapons are all the same, none of them have special abilitys like the Ifirt gloves. It has a few cool things like running up walls and having 2 characters, but it doesn't make a difference in gameplay. If you want a good game like this look at the orignal Devil May Cry, Legacy Of Kain:Defiance, or one of the Onimusha games.

Yuck.

If you loved the first DMC, then stay clear of this stinking attempt to gobble up your money on the success of the first. The balance of weapons is off, the difficulty is a joke, and there is no real reason to want to play further than an hour into it. No attention to detail, basically it falls flat on it's face.

a sequel to one of the best games of 2001, this game is gunna rock. dante's got a handful of new moves and a female partner named lucia, dmc 2 is twice as long as the first one. though its being developed by a different capcom team its said to remain true to the original.

It was ook

Well I was waiting forever for this game to come and was very dissapoited. I'm Sorry but it was more like a resident evil kind of game. The first was much better and had unique tastes, but in DMC2 it was as unique such as instead of a unique gun like Nightmare B in DMC you get a rocket launcher for me i think its like resident evil and theres some monsters that should be in resident evil. I give this game 3 stars because the FMV's(yes there are FMV's)and graphics and the matrix like moves, messing around with monsters with these kinda moves are alot of fun so the game was ook.

Sophmore Disease

Through my own experience of playing video games, I have noticed that the sophmore installment tends to be the maker or the breaker. Anyone who played old NES saw that sequels usually turned out quite well like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 or Final Fantasy 2. And of course all of us remember the great seqeuls on the Genesis and the SNES with both Mortal Kombat 2 and Street Fighter 2. The listed examples are only but a few great successes. However, as console systems become graphically more powerful and more powerful, the second installment of most games have fell horrendously. Devil May Cry tends to be one of them.

As any fan of survival horror, I had been waiting for this game for sometime. Unfortunately, when I popped the game in to the console, I realized I could have applied my hope to something else instead.

Graphically, Devil May Cry 2 makes its counterpart look nearly absurd. However, that is where the only strong point lies. The Gameplay is near ridiculous. Some boss fights still contain a great deal of glitches including methods in which to defeat them. Some bosses only require you to position Dante or Lucia in the right position that allows you to simply pummel some bosses. I am also quite upset with the camera angles that the developers provided. Ever grow tired of the angles you were given in the Resident Evil series or the first Devil May Cry? This game would simply make anyone cry in a corner. In most battles, the camera angle keeps Dante and a far distant keeping the player away from all the cool action. This flaw is also emphasized in boss fights. Some of the bosses you won't be able to even see as you battle them.

Quite honestly, I believe Devil May Cry 2 could have been a great game. However, Capcom refused to put in the extra attention to make it a great game. I only pray that they can make up for this foul up with Resident Evil Online or Resident Evil 4.

Great but not as great as the original.

Let me start off by saying that some people that rated this game have been harsh. It is a sequel, what did u honestly expect. I got exactly what I expected. While it was somewhat easy, it still took me as long as the first since there was 2 characters(it ttok me about a week give or take a day). The story line might have been kinda bad, and the style ratings corny, but it made all of that up in the action. I felt that the first had a great story line, but somewhat lacked the great action that the sequel had. The graphics improved, exspecially on the cinematics. Overall, the game was a very fun play and worth all of the money. It was a sequel, and one of the better ones in recent Playstation history, so give it credit for being a darn good second chance to play as Dante.
