this game is awsome!...devil may cry 1 was very good.and number 2 is even better.its just the right amount of difficulty.and loads very fast.u can even buy tecneques[.]I would of gave this game even more stars if I could but it only let me put 5.this is the best game ever![.]

What To REALLY Expect From the Sequel

This game allows you to play as two characters, Dante who relies on guns and swords and Lucia who relies on Katars (Or some other form of hand blades) and throwing daggers. Characters have the abilites to run up walls, jump in the air while shooting, as well as other acrobatic feats. The game adjusts the difficulty level to your setting which is really handy to get the most out of the gaming experience. The new environment looks huge and should allow for plenty of space for kicking demonic arse. Hopefully this game will maintain the high quality of the original, and from the looks of the screens it probably will.

Intro - Let it be known that I have not finished this game. I have enough information to write a temporary review, which will be properly enhanced and revised once I have beaten the game. The reason for me posting this now is because I know many gamers and people alike are interested in reading up on this highly anticapated sequel, due to the great success of the awesome original. For now, everything I say is worth reading if you are interested in this game, and want feedback from someone who actually played it, and does not work for the game company.

Regarding the first, I loved the first DMC, but the end was terrible. The guys at Capcom really didn't know how to end it, which is ashame because everything flowed perfectly until then. It is obvious that you don't through mini-games at the end of a action/adventure. The whole red airplane (for those who beat the original) idea was cheesy and lame. The game also didn't need that silly space shooter at the end before you fight the big boss who killed Dante's father.

Enough said about the original, the second seems to have really improved over everything thus far ... except the story which is less involved. I guess this could be a good thing, because the first DMC built up this story about Dante's father in hell and Dante never saw his father. Devil May Cry 2 is not focused on building up a big story, therefore we can't be disappointed when the end story becomes weak and chiche' like the first.

DEVIL MAY CRY 2 - Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. Now, this is my thus-far review on DMC 2! Dante hero has returned to continue his war against the underworld of demons and super-villains. Joined by a hot chick named Lucia, you can choose which character you want in the beginning of the game. Each character plays extremely differently regarding moves, speed, and style. Lucia has some awesome martial arts that will attract many gamers. Choosing either character will create alterations in the story. Each character gives you a different ending (I have read) which adds nice replay value for the majority who buy this game.

Gameplay - Devil May Cry 2 took a little bit of time to grow on me due to the huge change of enviroment and open spaces. The game isn't twice the size of the first, it is like five-ten times the size! This should give gamers 20-30+ hours of gameplay. The game is very simular to the original in terms of gameplay, but the moves in this one are amazing! The same engine is used, however, Dante is really modified. Two examples are the famous double-jumping, as well as running up walls like in The Matrix! At first I was expecting something different, but in time I realized that this game was very addictive and makes you explore more than the first. The levels are so much bigger, and the detail is much more impressive over-all, as opposed to the first. I did not notice any jaggies, slowdown, clipping, etc ... all gripes I had with the first Devil May Cry. Hopefully the game will stay like that, because the draw distance is damn impressive, probably the best seen yet on the PS2. You can make it to the top of the buildings and see for miles, running across the roofs and jumping from building to building, all while battling monsters in the air and on ground. It is really a site to see.

Story and Complaints - The only complaint I have is that the story and plot is pretty weak. DMC 2 seems less involved in story than the original. It is pretty straight-forward and simplistic. I believe we learn more about both Dante and Lucia as the game progresses, but I havn't reached that far to review that. In a nutshell, Dante returns with this hot, new girl (Lucia) to take care of business and kill the demons and monsters sent from Hell to cause chaos. It is a cheap excuse to make such a storyline, but everyone knows that if you want a deep, engrossing story, you play Metal Gear Solid. Anyway, DMC2 will be the biggest game of this year, next to Halo 2, Silent Hill 3, and Fable AKA Project Ego. (if that ever gets released) Also, I have seen several official cut-scene's on www.ign.com. I wish that DMC2 didn't copy off The Matrix during several parts. I really hate when games rip-off other things, but that is a minor gripe.

Devil May Cry 2 totally surpasses the original in terms of graphics, size, and gameplay. To say DMC2 is a little better is a joke. DMC2 is awesome from the start. I have only seen part of it so I can not fully judge the game as a whole. Trust in mine though, the gameplay is identical to the first one in every way perfect, stylish, and flawless. Do not expect as much innovation at first. If there is innovation, it will come later in the game after you've earned it. I truly hope there is martial arts for Dante, as that was damn awesome in the original.

In Conclusion - Devil May Cry 2 is highly recommended. It is the greatest action/adventure game I have ever played to date, next to Zelda - Ocarina Of Time and Metal Gear Solid 2. The camera angles simular to the first one, yet they seem to have been better tweaked and adjusted, giving you the best possible view on every angle. Most times, the camera simply follows you while changing angles and it all works great, just like a movie. For me, this technique is excellent, not boring like the still shots that have plagued the Resident Evil games. DMC2 stays true to the coolness of the original, but improves and adds so many things that I can't wait to see all the things in the upcoming missions. New moves may take some time for gamers to "get" but the learning curve is fairly easy, whether you're familiar with the first or not. The new enemies are very different and more relentless. The boss fights are once again very competitive and impressive. I have only seen the first boss fight. I will not spoil anything. Buy this game when it arrives. It is flat-out awesome!

a sequel to one of the best games of 2001, this game is gunna rock. dante's got a handful of new moves and a female partner named lucia,dmc 2 is twice as long as the first one. though its being developed by a different capcom team its said to remain true to the original.

I'm giving DMC2 3 stars just because I loved the first so much... It just isn't devil may cry, it has Dante and his moves but you just run around a town with out ever seeing any story and well... just isn't as fun as the first. The weapons are boring compared to the first as well. It looks like they combined Onimusha, Shinobi, and Devil May Cry to make this game.... it just didn't turn out well...

This game is definatly a sequal.
Choose 2 characters ( Lucia some new girl and have a little attitude) And DEFINATLY !!DANTE!! The gunner Sword drawing maniac that has the ability to change into a
fully-fledged-demon!!! Lucia changes into a skylight angle that uses these light attacks. ( They are both partly opposite). The reback of the game is awsome.

Gameplay- 10 outta 10= The gameplay rocks ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY!

Sounds- 9 outta 10= The game soundNmusic is great and JUST great and stick it in to that game.

Story- UHH?= Well les jus say that the game story is confusing i jus pay attention into my Guns and Swords.

Controls- 8 thou 9 outta 10- The game controls are tough.. You gotta tap into the Square button then do these twirls and stunts (Cant Beat the game without doing it) Real Brain Mixing. Its not the wrost controls not the wrost as i said its just tough.

Overall- 9 thou 10- Superb or More..

Pros:
-Nice features
-Superb graphics
-Devil trigger is improved
-Dante is a bit faster
-alot of bosses
-Nice FMV sequences
-Improved music
-Improved continue system
-Dante's with more techniuqes makes him pretty awsome
Cons:
-Waaay 2 short, and I'm talkin disc 1 and 2 combinded
-They could have added alot more to both Dante's and Lucia's disc
-where's the Donte we know? The one who talk's trash throughout the game instead of at the end
-Hardly any excitment, cuz the game was way to easy and short
-Most of the techniques are hardly any use
-Guns and swords are slow, unless you're in devil trigger state
-The story and the characters are hardly involving at all
-The bosses are way too easy
-Not as much weapons as Devil May Cry
-Lucia's disc is hardly worth anything, cuz she has no guns
-It seems like a S rating is impossible to get
-Enimies are not all that amusing either
-Trish woulda seemed more sutable for a sidekick for Dante than Lucia
-Pretty bad voice acting
-Dante's old trash talkin, younger voice was much better

This is sad, when such a good bad-... game, goes to sad ... game. This game was a major dissapointment. The game looked great at first, but then the bosses were too easy, and this game was hardly a good expirience. If they woulda did more than improve techniuqes, and stuff, and improve the story, the levels,The excietment factor, the bosses, the lenght, the voice acting, and the weapons system, this wouldave been a much better game. 80 bux says if they had thier old director, from one of the best games ever made DMC, then this game wouldave been jes as good as DMC. But in this case I highly suggest a rental, cuz this games predisesor puts this sequal to shame; this is very sad.

This game just came out. I got it the otherday and i can't put it down. It is very very well designed. From running up walls to shooting pistols in different directions, this game has it all. It comes with two disks, and you can play the first disk or the second disk. The first disk is playing as dante, and the second one is playing as lucia. I Am on level ten and ive allready fought about 4 bosses. The game is incredible. The graphics are sweet and the replay value is boss. You can play the whole game through as dante or lucia (also you can ajust the dificulty settings) and they are 2 COMPLETLY different stories. A tipicle combo would be slashing at an enemy, then runing sideways down a wall, doing a flip of the wall (While shooting the whole time) and smash the enemy with the blade. Or if you are in a group of swarming enemys, just lock on and keep shooting at that and then since you can shoot in two different directions, start capping all the other demons closing in on you. The game has the right amount of difficulty, not to hard but much harder then devil may cry, which I beat in 3 hours. The deal with this is it focasas more on levels. You have to buy levels for your guns and swords. Dante starts out equipped with his handguns and a sword, and so far i have found another sword and a shotgun, and a heat-seeking missle launcher. This game is soo ill you wouldnt believe it. It is worth all ... because of the many many new moves, and 2 playable charactors, make it like 2 games in one. Anyone who is a devil may cry fan, Or a Capcom fan should go out and buy this game tonight.

Oh my, just got DMC 2 and WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!! This game rules !!!!!!!!! The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is awsome, they finnaly fixed the camera angles in this one, and the running around and matrix style moves are wonderful. Capcom knows how to make a game !!! I am 2 levels away from beating the first one, but dont know if I will get back to it after trying out DMC 2. This game was worth every penny, and rushing out to Blockbuster to get it. I think the XBOX has finnaly met its match, you can have HALO (yawn) this game rocks. Buy it, alot of replay value. Worth every penny. Thanks CAPCOM.
