What a Waste

This just might be the worst video game sequel of all time. Extremely disappointing. Here goes:
-No story whatsoever. There doesn't even seem to be a reason why the characters move from one "area" to the next.
-Overrated graphics (How can anyone tell if they're any good when the game is so dark)
-Repetetive, repetetive, repetitive. Don't be fooled by the "twice the gameplay" line, Lucia's missions are more or less carbon copies of Dante's.
-Dante's attitude is gone. Now he just comes across as self-serving.
-Pointless in-game maps.
-Bad dialogue and voice acting. What is up with Lucia's accent?
-Unappealing villains (with bad accents!).
-Absolutely horrible environments! Gone is the gothic eeriness of the castle and deserted island from the original. Instead we get garish high-rises and generic city streets. None of the atmospheric tension that made the original so much fun.
-Stupid stupid stupid stupid monsters that are horribly drawn. I guess the "graphic sizzle" went into making cobblestones, because most of the monsters are just clumps of dark color. And all the incarnations of said monsters (as they level up) look exactly the same. Cherub babies? Devil monkeys? Seriously?
-Numbing soundtrack that never changes. Ever.
-Pointless upgrade system that only rewards hardcore gamers who care to replay the same game over and over and over again in order to reap the rewards of maxed out weapons. Hey game designers! Not all who buy your products are video game addicts who spend all their free time in front of the TV, paddle in hand! We part-time gamers deserve a rich gaming experience as well!
-And the worst thing about this game: the grading system that rewards players for rushing through each level as quickly as possible. See my previous comment. Also, Capcom: doesn't it stand to reason that the faster someone blasts through this game, the sooner they will be back in the store, spending money on your competitor's products? Why reward gamers for finishing your title in one day? I could go on and on about how little business sense that makes, but I won't. Point is, from the point of view of a gamer who only plays one or two titles a year and likes to relish them while they last, this grading system seriously detracts from the fun.
If and when DMC3 comes out, DMC2 has taught me to rent first.

what happened? It used to be fun.

all i have to say is the second DMC has an uneventful storyline, hardly any action and when there is action you can't help but ask yourself 'why am playing this and what do i care?' the battles are far and few, the bosses seem to come out of nowhere making you scratch your head in confusion and the graphics (besides the cutscenes) look just like the first DMC

Dont waste your money this game sucks. I recently purchased this game. Sure the graphics might be nice ,but wheres the story. All that ever happens is you run around killing demons.Also this game is way to easy run shoot kill run again ,and again. Theres horrible camra angles half the time you cant see your self or the thing you supposed to kill.

DM2 is probably the worst, most boring, game for the PS2. Bassicly all you do is run down a level, shoot Identical monsters that have the AI of a dead goldfish, solve stupid puzzles that dont make sense, repeat until the credits roll. Although you have infinate ammo, which may sound like a good thing, is really stupid because you have two hand guns with the power of an AK-47. Your enemys can hardly touch you because you are "Too" fast, strong, and athletic. you are way too strong too have any fun. You can beat a level without a scratch on you. That may sound cool, but it's really boring. Another Part that Disturbed me is On the back of the box it says "Play as the
Bad-Ass Dante, Or the Sexy Lucia". Or something like that.
LUCIA ISN'T SEXY!!! She's about as "SEXY" As Kelly Osbourne. And thats all I have to say about that...

capcom destroyed something beautiful

the origin of everything wrong in this game is that capcom had a different team working on the game. the combat is dull even though you have a lot of moves. the different team is the origin of the HORRIBLE plot and the CHEESY dialogue. honestly, where did that dumb coin come from. The prequel was a classic but this game is so horrible in comparison. Lucia, pick an accent and stick with it, nuff said. this game took out the desire of looking forward to a devil may cry 3. stop tryng to make this game look good with positive reviews b/c you're just lying. DMC fans: face it this game was not satisfactory, thats it for the DMC series. don't waste your good money on this, buy a real gothic action game from the LOK series...PLEASE.

Horrible

This game shouldn't even be out in stores it's so bad. It's to easy, to short, and it has a horrible story line. The boss fights are easy and not as cool as the ones in the fist dmc. None of the weapons are all the same, none of them have special abilitys like the Ifirt gloves. It has a few cool things like running up walls and having 2 characters, but it doesn't make a difference in gameplay. If you want a good game like this look at the orignal Devil May Cry, Legacy Of Kain:Defiance, or one of the Onimusha games.

I got this game thinking I would have a great time playing, but was soon disappointed... the weapons are cool, the graphics are okay, but all the elements of the game just don't seem to come together...Don't buy this game!

If you enjoyed playing the first Devil May Cry, and are anticipating the second to be just as good, don't even waste your money. Just rent it because it is easy to beat (about 5 hours for both discs) and it isn't worth spending $ on. Here are some reasons why:

-The story line is horrible. Granted Devil May Cry 1 didn't have a great story line either, but at least the game was interesting. This time the story line is even worse.

-The camera angles suck. The game automatically zeros in on targets for you and half the time you can't see what you are shooting at. It also makes navigating the game difficult.

-There are too many half-assed attempts at cool features in this game. There are maps that don't help at all, and a huge selection of weapons that are pointless because everything is so easy to kill. And aside from the characters and a few missions, the first and second disks are almost identical. Most of the objectives are the same and all of the bosses are the same.

There are a ton of other reasons not to buy this game. If you really want to give it a shot, rent it before you buy it. It is a big disappointment.

Major dissapointment

I would describe this game as boring, tedious, lame, waste of money, and most sadly a major dissapointment. I didn't even bother to finish the game and I have heard that you can finish the game in about five hours. The last level I went through I stood still hitting the box button to fire at a helicopter that was not visible. Every once in a while it would shoot a missle at me that would of course hit me because I couldn't see it coming. It didn't matter. I destroyed the helicopter quickly. The game is easy, but unfortunately not fun at all. If I were you and I didn't have the original Devil May Cry I would go buy that one. The original game rocked! If you own the original go play it again.

This game is the worst. Don't get me wrong I LOVED Devil may cry but this game sucks. The chick is super bad she is like seriously stupid looking. And where is Trish?!?! She is gone I guess then the shop everything the whole story that was set up in Devil may cry was just blown to hell (no pun intended) Dante looks like a complete fool in DMC2 he talks really bad. The new moves suck because the shoot both ways doesnt work. And when you want to roll out of the way you end up walking up a wall. or when you want to walk along the wall you roll down into these holes. Some sequels rock and some suck. Look at buffy the vampire slayer I am a HUGE fan of the show I have read every novel and played the first game and loved it. But the second one sucked horribly same goes for here. You don't have to take my word for it but the game really sucks. If you liked the first one you probably wont like this one. What was really bad was I got them both together and I played DMC like 24 and finished it loved it. But when I started DMC2 the keys are all different imagine being used to cutting with X now X is jump and cut is triangle. Plus the orbs are changed the whole system is F***ed the only good thing about the game is you can save any time as to only when a mission was complete in the first one that is the only good thing and the cutscences that are made out of pure graphics are nice but it isnt worth the time or the money.
