Such promise, such loss...

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 3 / 5

This game is good fun, but seeing all the loose ends definitely detracts from the overall game experience. Many facets of the story were cut, and this resulted in even more cuts towards the end of the game when parts of the game dependent on those earlier facets showed up. What we have now is a shortened, trunctuated version of what should have been.

However, I found the overall story to be more meaningful and less of the standard "You may only be Jedi or Sith" fare seen in many places. This game touches on the failings of both those who pursue power and those who hold it gently. When the mods which restore much of the cut content are released, this game will make a comeback on my computer.

Overall, I'd say it's a good game which will likely become better and better as fans seek to revive it.

THE GAME IS NOT FINISHED

i got so pissed when i started playing the game bugs everywhere hard to understand and the story is cut off many times kotor 1 was lot better and had less probles but thisone is simply not finished. places where the screen got completely black. or other times where you end up locked up in a stage. i suggest dont use any cheats specially the one to open all doors youll end up nowhere wither locked up in a stage or with the screen completely black.

I loved the first game. That was a good game, this game is terrible. I finally threw this game away from frustration. This game wasn't completed, it's buggy, and lucas arts will never recieve a penny for another game from me.

Short and sweet like poo

^^ That is how I describe my experience with this game as it crashes due to the problem with ATI cards. I gave the fun a one because I wouldn't know how fun it is.

To get to the point, only buy this game if you have an nvidia gpu series 5 and on. Otherwise, you will not be able to play it... Seriously. Go and read other peoples reviews.

Get a patch already

Until LucasArts get an updated patch out for this game... it is definatley not worth buying. Way too many issues, glitches, and bugs. Fun game... but it needs a patch to work out its issues

When I first installed Knights of the Old Republic II, my first thoughts were this isnt going to be good. From what I had read from other reviews it was too weak. But when it first starts, I was thinking it lives of to KoToR I. The begining of the game has a quick tutorial to help go over the basic elements of game play, very good for those who didnt play the first installment. Even though I was already familar with the game and how to play I did the tutorial anyway because it was a very good way to start a game. It continued great, for a while... Eventually though unlike KoToR I which I played hours on end, never losing intereast. I evntually had to take a break from gameplay just because it got too boring or didnt captivate me. The actual game has more bugs than any I have ever seen in anouther game. Some include, characters talking that arent even there, or a chatacter typing at an invisible computer console. Anouther negative is unlike KoToR I, there is no character quest, such as Carth and Bastilla in the first game, where you find out more about those characters. Dont get me wrong they do have back story, although it is severly limited and not as good.

All in all, I would say this game is a good game, though it could have been a ton better. If they had not released it a while longer and got rid of the many bugs and added more backstory (personally I enjoy the character's individual stories) then it would have been all the better.

I loved the game. The characers are great. The worlds are interesting, it still deosnt look outdated. And the combat is fairly strategic. Unfortuneatley the games ending is rather lack luster.

Better than the original

I own KOTOR I and thought it was an okay game. The story line in the original was a little confusing and did not make much sense. With most of the Star Wars games, the second installment is rarely better than the first. This is one of those rare cases.

The plot line in KOTOR 2 actually made more sense. I was able to follow the plot right on through with this new game. There are a few more bells and whistles in this game which are a plus. The better storyline is the real winner. I read some of the other reviews, maybe I just played this differently. I don't know why this story would not make sense to someone. There are a good number of possibilities for choices in this game. Depending on what type of character you take and how you play them changes the story. I am currently only on may way through for the 2nd time. I have not found any holes in the story line and I find the ability to replay this game refreshing. Maybe I will find the problems the other reviewers had on my next try of this game, but so far it has been much more coherent than the original. There were points in the game where I did not know what to do. I would recommend getting a walkthrough or guide either online or from a store, for some of the missions you can get stuck if you don't realize you missed something or made a really bad choice. I would suggest saving often in different file names.

In this installment you play a Jedi that was cast out of the Jedi order before the Jedi Civil war. This war greatly reduced the number of Jedi to the point where you are believed to be the last remaining one. The game takes you on an adventure across 7 different worlds while you slowly regain your connection to the Force as you try to discover the plot of the Sith. I liked the twists in this game although they are someone predictable your are never sure until they unfold. I found this game very enjoyable and will play it at least 2 more times to get a good grasp of how the stoy changes as the characters and choices you make change the outcome.

Evolution not revolution

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords is a solid follow up to the Star Wars; Knights of the Old Republic. It breaks no new ground but has an intricate story that draws in the player very effectively. I am playing the game for the second time and I am finding this different from my first time through. The game play in " The Sith Lords" is essentially the same as KOR with a little tweaking by the developers. Some nuanced changes in character development and weapons modifications make the game more fun for RPG fan like myself. The game also catches the spirit of Lucas's creation the "Jedi" very nicely. Moral choices are continuously presented and decissions by the player advances one towards the Light or Dark side respectively.
The biggest issue I had with the game was frequent problems with the graphics. The game would start to slow down and eventually lock up. I had to continually go and adjust graphics settings to get the game to run. I have a 2 year old computer, a P4, PC with a good graphics card and plenty of memory so the game play problem was a pain.
All in all I liked the game. The story is good, besides who doesn't want to be a Jedi.

It sure looks compelling but.......

I could not get this game to run on my (state of the art)system. The software is filled with bugs. The story certainly looks compelling and I loved the first game. It is a real shame I won't enjoy this one. I gave it 2 stars, as I understand some people have been able to play it. My advice is wait for the patch.
