WARNING:THIS GAME IS INCOMPLETE AND WILL LEAVE GAMERS FRUSTRATED AND BORED OUT OF THEIR RESPECTIVE WITS! That would be a good warning that Lucasarts could have slapped on the back of KOTOR2. This half-baked yet full priced game is a complete catastophe! So here is a joke. What do you get when you add broken gameplay, imcomplete storyline, confusing controls, and horrible graphics? KOTOR2 of course! Now you may think I am just being mean, but I don't particularly enjoy bashing games. I much rather enjoy praising them, but in cases like this, there is just no praise to be found. Ok I would not be so mad if Lucasarts actually stuck with their promise of releasing a patch to solve this horrendous mess. But I regret to say that they have so far released no such thing. And unless they do soon, I will tell you to STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME AT ALL COSTS!
A poor follow-up to a great game

This game was lukewarm in the sense that it really didn't offer anything new that KOTOR hadn't already done. While not a terrible game, it certainly doesn't live up to its predecessor, and its lack of anything remarkable makes it look like it was rushed into production so that LucasArts could quickly cash in on the huge overnight success of KOTOR.
The pros: A larger variety of Force powers to choose from, as well as a few different planets to travel to. There are also new characters who, while not as interesting as the ones in KOTOR, have their own personalities and, this time, their own agendas.
The cons: So-so storyline, countless glitches as a result of rushed production, a return to a planet from the previous game simply for the sake of recycling some of the old environments, and team members who can often times be more irritating than you can imagine (Atton Rand, for example).
Don't buy it expecting it to be as good as KOTOR, but if you really must play it, I'd suggest waiting for the price to drop, because fifty dollars is NOT worth it. And judging from all the bad reviews it's gotten from fans, it probably won't be too long until it's going for twenty bucks at the most.
May the force be with you.

Knights of the old republic is a awesome game that is just as compelling to play as the first one. Although, there are a few more bugs that cause for headaches and aggrevation. However, if you're willing to overlook these minor problems, this game will draw you into a world all its own.
Kotor2 picks up where the first one left off, you are a Jedi outcast that has been abandoned on a dying ship that harbors on an equally dying planet. Your sole companions for the beginning are an old Jedi woman that has become your bond mate through the force, and a tough, fiesty fighter pilot that was thrown in the clink. However, through the course of your journey you will pick up others along the way, some old friends, others...well, we just aren't quite sure.
As far as planets and plots go, there is more to choose from and go through, its a very lengthy game to say the least. It took me about four hours just to get off the first planet, and that was playing it straight through.
Also, for those of you that enjoy FPS, this game likely won't thrill, for the puzzles come thick and fast, and the plots revolve around alot of communicating with your followers.
The graphics are really good, and run pretty decent on the lower systems (mine for example) and the enviromental elements are truly amazing. There is the ability to see your breath on frosty planets, and the wind gently blowing trees and grass. Its a game that is truly immersive.
However, the end is a big disappointment. Typical end of killing the boss(s), but then there's just the end movie and the game stops. No final dialogue, and you never do find out what really happened on Malachor V, or what happens to your friends that where stuck there.
Obsidion got to carried away by trying to live up to Bioware's standards that they forgot the most importent aspect of this game, and that the endings really do count. I have to agree with everyone else that this game is rather half-done.
Its still a great game to play, and a worthy sequel to Knights of the old Republic, but that end......

Where did I come from?

When you start off playing the game, your in your ship half dead, then your droid pilots the ship into the Peragus mineing facility. When you awaken you meet a women named Krea.....
But what I don't understand is where did I come from? In the original Knights of the Old Repuplic when you beat the game you become the new sith lord (if you beat it on the evil side) or the savior of the galaxy (if you beat it on the good side).
Thats what really made me upset about this game I wanted to continue not start over again. I'm not saying this game wasn't fun, because it was fun, it just didn't follow the original story. This is a game that you could play before playing the first one.
A few loose ends, but lots of fun!

I would concur with those reviewers who felt the game was rushed to market and a bit rough around the edges and unfinished to some degree. However, even with these faults, it was a lot of fun to play.
I played this right after KotOR, so it was more like one long game. People and situations in the first are refered to in the second, giving a very expansive feel to the overall plot.
Graphics were pretty much the same in both games, pretty good but nothing that will blow you away. I think the creators focused more on the plot and character development than on wowing us with amazing visuals. (there are websites out there with patches and mods which greatly enhance the game although I played the first time through without any patches at all).
I feel the best thing about the game is the interaction with your companions, and trying to figure out who is friend and who is foe. The action elements (lightsaber battles, force use) are also very enjoyable. There seems to be a good balance between story, dialogue, and action (although this is obviously up to personal preference).
The biggest negative is that the relationships you spend the whole game developing do not satisfactorally resolve themselves by the end of the game. This is very disappointing as I was just getting into a deeper relationship (actually, two) when the game ended.
There are a few interface improvements in the second game...nothing major but it seems the creators listened to gripes about the first game's interface and made the desired changes.
I didn't encounter any of the bugs people have mentioned so I guess I was lucky. Perhaps the version I installed was a newer one?
All in all, a very fun game with a somewhat stunted ending. Perhaps there will be a third game to carry on this franchise.
Good Story, Fun Game, but Buggy!

I enjoyed playing this game, when it would let me...the amount of bugs in this game is downright outrageous, crashes left and right. It was a good story though. I suppose I could give you a few tips...
To stop the Dantooine framerate from dropping, go to the folder where your game files are ex. c:/program files/lucasarts/swkotor2, and open the swkotor2.ini file (on my xp the icon was a notepad with a cogwheel over it), and under the [Graphics Options] heading insert a line and type:
Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1
That should get rid of any bad framerate drops on Dantooine and at least make it playable.
Also, I had a glitch near the end of the game where I went back to Dantooine, but when I tried to get off my ship, the planet wouldn't load, I tried restarting and all that jazz, nothing worked, finnaly I found online a cheatcode to warp straight to Dantooine so to use it, open the swkotor2.ini file as I said above and under the [Game Options] header insert a line and type:
EnableCheats=1
Then Start StarWars:KOTOR2 and load your game, and press this button:
`
the one with the ~ sign right above it, just above the tab key.
Then type:
warp 605dan
-Then Press Enter-
Don't worry about the fact you can't see your typing, the cheat console is invisible. And Tada! Your on Dantooine and Can finish your game!
The only other advice I have for you is !Save Often! and !Don't OverWrite Your Saved Games! I found that saving your games as 1,2,3,4,etc., to be a quick way to do this.
May the Force be with You.
A good continuation that just missed the mark.

All the tings I liked about the first are present in the second, but this game feels more like an expansion than a full blown sequel. All the same mechanics are back plus a few more force powers that I never ended up using because they didn't seem all that useful.
Some may be dissapointed to know that at least 2 worlds are carbon copies of worlds from part one (Korriban & Dantooine) with modifications to make them smaller.
The game was not that challenging either. You only need to aquire force storm as a power and use it 3-4 times per large group and they will all go down. Your force points regenerate between groups, so you will breeze past the entire game.
At times I got odd light/dark side points. I would just go about minding my own business trying to be dark and I still managed to get the occasional light side points.
I was also under the impression that the influence meter meant more than it turned out meaning. I thought your party would either decide to stay with you or leave based on your influence with them. From what I can tell your party stays with you no matter what, the influence just determines how much of a conversation you can have with party members. Characters will follow the light/dark path depending on which path you chose, but I couldn't see much of a benefit to that. As far as I could tell, the only difference between a light Atton vs. a dark Atton was a red or blue background on the character information screen.
I haven't read the first review of this game on amazon, but I'm positive it is mentioned. The ending was completely worthless. After all the time invested I was expecting much more of a payoff. Seriously, the ending was shorter/more dissapointing than a cinematic of the Ebon Hawk flying from one planed to the next.
I'm not sure where they are going with that one. The force tells me they tried to get you invested so you'll buy an expansion. We are starting to see more and more of this. Halo 2 stalled just so it could hook people into buying Halo 3 (which will probably only be released on the Xbox2). I'm tired of the tricks, what ever happend to complete games?

KOTOR II is not one of those games for those who do not like a lot of talk, especially talk many don't understand. However, I loved it. Kreia was the most intreging player I have ever seen in a game - and the other NPC's were really fasicnating, the voice acting was great.
The game seems to be at a much quicker pace than KOTOR. Graphics are slightly better (could be much better). Game play is the same turned based style. I seemed to like this since it gives better control (your Jedi-so it give you the sense you are reacting quickly). The influence chacks and dark side transitions for NPC's is a great imporvement upon KOTOR (The DS lok for Handmaiden and Mira is awesome).
The only thing wrong with this game is near the end. It seems rushed(and short) - which it is. Another game that is released for the holiday season. The gamer must be able to make the connections (with great intuition) to understand the chapters of the game. Such horrible move by companies make developers (like Obsidian) look bad.

This game has excellent story and play style. It plays similar to Neverwinter Nights. It is fast paced and while there is a little puzzle work it is well placed and doesn`t bring the game to a screeching halt. The only complaint I have is that there do seem to be bugs aplenty, I had the most problems with movement bugs. Still with a little patience can provide a great deal of enjoyment, and remember save early save often.
