Buggy

I have never seen a game beeing as buggy as this. I just hope the patch is going to come out soon but to be honest I don't think that Lucas Arts will fix everything needed to make this game fully enjoyable.

Don't misunderstand me...the game has got great potential but right now it is just not good and I doubt that this is going to change.

Could have used a bit more inspiration...

Unfortunately, KotOR II: The Sith Lords, doesn't stand up to the original. Although it was an adequate try, the graphics should have been updated with more vigor, the plot was there... but felt more like the reject story for the first game, and the ending leaves much to be desired. The soundtrack is a humble one but after the first couple hours it gets repetitive. Another thing was that you would have to sift your way through a decent amount of dialogue that you've already been through a dozen times to learn a tad bit more about the game you're playing, which get's old quick.

Through all of that though the game still just grabs you in and you can't put it down until it's been beaten, just like the first one did, though this one does it to a lesser effect unfortunately... and that's what this game feels like just an unfortunately, due partly because of the first game's illustrious gameplay, graphics, sound, and plot. So if you are new to the soon to be trilogy, then I would suggest you get the first KotOR for $20 instead of the lesser of the two for $50.

KOTO2... A must buy!!!

I pre-ordered this right before it came out...
And I have not regretted my chouse!
Kotor2 stays true 2 the sprit of the original Kotor while making some needed changes. Now you can become a master of hand-hand combat, seek out and destroy evil with new light side powers, or disappear into the shadows as a deadly sith assassin.

Pros:
New classes, powers, weapons, planets and much more...
Better quality game play and graphics!
Your followers fallow you towards the dark or light side, gaining new abilities and personalities accordingly...
Rise above
Train up to four members of your party as Jedi/sith!
Lot of mods/modders...

Cons:
No Bastila... "sniff" :(
The ending is a cliffhanger...
You do not get a lightsaber until later in the game...
It reuses two planets...

Overall rating:
Must buy!!!
5/5 stars
Two thumbs up!

All the bugs aside, the fact that this game is not even finished yet full priced make me one dissapointed gamer.

Reccomendation: Avoid this one until a patch resolves the large problems.

SW KotOR II Not Ready for Playing

I have KotOR I (PC) and all patches. Game of the Year - 2003 and maybe the best game in the last 5 years. I bought KotOR II (PC) on Feb 8 2005. Finished it March 9 2005. I had most if not all the problems mentioned previously by other reviewers from the forums and here. KotOR II was supposed to be the "long awaited sequel to the 2003 Game of the Year". It was "awaited" and KotOR I was, is and always will be the 2003 Game of the Year. KotOR II needs a "fix" patch. It also needs a "content" patch. It may get the first; but I highly doubt the second. Only buy the game when the "fix" patch is available. DO NOT pay more that $25 for the game as is. Nearly every reviewer (XBox and PC) who has played KotOR II completely has written similar things: Bugs, Cut Content, Missing Quest, etc. WE ARE NOT WRONG!!! LucasArts and Obsidian "screwed up". We will be less likely to buy KotOR III. There will be a KotOR III. (Platinum rule: S/He who has the platinum, Rules.)

doesn't strat because of impossible to get new drivers

When we emailed Lucas Arts they said your drivers are out of date but there are no updates for an ATI radeon 9200. So I can't play till it's changed to something that is supported and when I clickame it does nothing at all.

Cut Content, Buggy Game

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 5 / 7

Lucasarts forced the release of this early for the $.

Things were cut like a WHOLE planet not to mention the cutscenes are buggy and it crashes every 30 minutes.

I was so flusterated I had to cheat to continue the storyline, legitimate playing could not advance me further, and this WASN'T because I couldn't handle the gameplay no.... this is because the game is so bugged!

But beside the game failing half the time, stuff disappearing out of my inventory... the interaction between npc's was ok. However sometimes things did not make sense, you are left wondering why this person talked to you out of the blue about nothing.

My biggest erk is the cut content for the 3rd KOTOR.

Cut content, yes.... and they didn't think the fans would know or get mad about this? Cut stuff from the game?

Don't buy this unless they patch this thing then it might be worth it. Buy it now and you'll regret you did.

Sith Lords = One Hit Wonders

I played the first Star Wars KOTOR twice (once on the light side and once on the dark side). After playing Sith Lords once I don't know if I will play it again.

The game mechanics are almost exactly the same as Star Wars KOTOR. They added lightsaber fighting forms and simple AIs; however, these don't add much to the game when every foe is a "one hit wonder." Throughout the entire game except the very last area I had it set on "difficult." I was hacking through the bad guys like there was no tomorrow and I wasn't even playing the "fighter" type Jedi. The game isn't that challenging!

The high points of the game: the graphics are cool, the sound is good, and it is Star Wars. So...

I suggest waiting until it drops down to $20 a copy before buying it. If you haven't played the first one yet definitely buy that one instead!

SPOILER

The end of the game is bad because all your hero does is talk to Kreia after the final fight. You learn the fate of all of your compainions... except of course for HK 47, T3M4, and Bao Dur. Can we say Star Wars KOTOR 3? OF COURSE! I also didn't like it that the ending wasn't more significant. In the first game you become the savior of the galaxy and the republic hero or the evil Sith Lord praised by the mindless masses. AWSOME! In Sith Lords you just fly off into a dust cloud and the story is wide open (sort of like Halo 2, or Matrix 2). WoHoo! I can't wait for the sequel! NOT! Hopefully I will remember how mediocre the second game is before buying a third one that will surely come out.

Fun, but very rough edges

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 6 / 10

Sith Lords makes for a fun continuation of KOTOR, with substantial advances in game play, combat, and even swoop racing. Added features like Jedi martial arts makes for an interesting change as does the idea of being able to create items. New NPCs also add fun to the game where, as with KOTOR, you can engage in entertaining dialogue.

For all that, the game crashes with an inexcuasable frequency. My machine is new and video card first rate. The game will inexplicably fail to load new areas and just freeze the system. Afterwards I have to reboot as the game will not reload. Other times, background graphics fail to load. I've had the game crash 4-5 times in a single 3 hour session of play which to me equals inexcusable quality control.

In other ways, the game seems rough and to lack the depth of KOTOR. Several missions seem pointless and often for a mission to go forward you need to run around to find the one random guy to talk to. Likewise the storyline lacks the epic scope of KOTOR partially because so much of it remains mysterious for so long that you have little idea what is happening or what is at stake.

Truly sad is that many of the games failings might be solved with a good patch.

So useless for ATI card owners

I should have read the posts before I bought the game. I played and enjoyed the first game very much. I have a very fast computer with ATI 9800XT and, as others before correctly reported, the game crashes during or right after character creation. Worse yet, emails to customer support are ignored. Funny, how there have been no other problems with other games -- this company simply cannot be trusted.
