First off, buy this game, you'll be doing yourself a favor. This game is aweseome! It is intense. The graphices(except for a couple bushes) are amazing. The sound and musical score are just as good as the original. All new weapons make the game interesting as well. The multi-player section of this game is so much better than the original with the edition of being able to fight computer players as well as your buddies. The levels are well thoughtout and intense especially The Day of Imfamy. Of course it will never live up to the D-Day level of the original it is still aweseome. This game is a must have sequel to Medal of Honor Frontline. Where else can you ride an elephant with a machine gun on its back? Thats just one of the many suprises in this game. The Two Player Campaign was a nice touch as well. BUY THIS GAME!

Needless to say, Medal of Honor: Frontline was a masterpiece! Everyone wanted to own this game. Move on to Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. Why didn't so many people want this game like the original? Because the original had the assault on Omaha Beach (D-Day) and led into the campaign against the Nazi's in World War II. The new one starts with the Pearl Harbor bombings and leads into the campaign against the Japanese in the South Pacific during WWII. Why not the hype? I cannot answer that, but the simple fact of the matter is that this game was amazing graphic-wise. Also, the story is amazing, the videos they show after each level is awsome, and the sound is Dolby 5.1! If you have an amazing surround sound system and a 42" big screen television, you will be in another world, like me! As for it being easier?!? Try changing the difficulty!

The Medal of Honor series are just incredible. This game defined itself after the first scene when Pearl Harbor is being attacked and you are on a PT boat shooting down the plains. The graphics are incredible and the storyline is fun and educational. The sound effects in this game really make it worth playing and it adds a bit of realism. The controls take a bit to get used to(if you are used to computer first-person shooter games), but you get used to it pretty quick. This is truly a keeper and worth every penny. I hope they come out with another one!
a tone down from Frontline.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is the next in the Medal of Honor series. You are Joe Griffin, a soldier fighting in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. There are ten missions, much less than in its predecessor, Medal of Honor: Frontline. The gameplay is all right, but the major flaw of this game is the enemy AI. "Survive devastating banzai charges," says the back cover. How could you not when the Japanese primitively charge at you when they've spotted you from half a mile away? The enemies tend to run into wall and do useless actions, such as sidestepping when not even firing. This game is so unfairly balanced towards you; in any mission with your allies in it, your allies are either invincible or forever will spawn. You also get 30 grenades that explode on contact, and they seem to be invisible to the enemy. Health packs also practically decorate every mission. Dying is obviously not an option. The Medal of Honor series has a tip system; pressing a button will give you a tip on how to complete the missions. Some of the tips are- useless. For example, in one mission a tip tells you to lay caltrops (spikes) when the ally gives you the signal. The signal never comes. The game was rushed when being programmed, so notice how the last mission leaves you at a cliffhanger. It is very easy to get lost in the more "open" missions, like those taking place in the jungle. One mission you must magically maneuver through the jungle at midnight. However, the upside of this is online play. Although it lacks a clan and ladder system, the online play is easy to learn to play but hard to master. Overall, the game gets a relatively good score, but poor AI tones it down. This game has little educational value, with the standard movie telling you about the origin of your mission. For non-retarded enemies, smoother graphics, and less fairness, go with Medal of Honor: Frontline.

The Medal of Honor series should have stayed on the PC. Although the graphics and sound score are great, using the controller on a PS2 is incredibly awkward and frustrating. I've never played a game even on a console where one thumb/joystick is for you to look up and down and the other one is to look left and right. Not to mention the reaction time is slow and unless there is an ability to increase the sensitivity of being able to strafe left and right faster there really is no point. Using a mouse on a PC allows you to use your whole hand to direct your line of fire rather than relying on your thumb. I feel robbed paying $50 for a game that I don't want to play anymore. If you have played Frontline you may like this game but if you are mainly a PC gamer like myself I'd wait and save your money until hopefully they put this game on the PC.
Not up to Medal of Honor Standards

Medal of Honor Rising Sun is quite a letdown. EA wanted the release of this game to be on Veteran's Day. This goal came at the cost of what their main goal should have been - continuing the outstanding game play of the series. Also, the loss of the production crew to "Call of Duty" had to hurt. The game is fraught with rough edges that at the minimum ruin the feeling of being immersed in the game, and at worst, frustrate the gamer to starting a level over. Major issues include:
1. Clipping, the worst of which was an ally AI character shooting through a closed door, with the enemy AI counterattacking by actually sticking their bayoneted rifles through the same door.
2. Ally and enemy AI - There were numerous times when an AI character got stuck running on an object. Also, enemies that were supposed to be watching an area would instead be facing a corner in a room or facing a wall on a building. This makes for an unrealistically easy kill.
3. Story Progression issues - Transitions to cut scenes were extremely rough, often times occurring in the middle of a battle. One major progression issue was during an objective which involved blowing up a car that was soon to pass by. The car never showed up, so in frustration I deployed the explosives. Magically the target car appeared out of nowhere and was blown up by explosives it never ran over!
There are several other issues that detract from this potentially great game. EA should have not been so concerned with the release date, and more concerned with the actual game.
Best 2 Player Cooperative Game Ever

The 2 Player Cooperative Genre is a small genre indeed. It had it's fun in Arcades with such games like Gauntlet. It was popular in the Nintendo world with Ikari Warriors and other hack and slash games as well. Socom is probably the best multiplayer cooperative, but requires online play, and really isn't fun when two players are in the same room. Games such as Desert Conflict 2 could have been perfect if they got the level design and save points correctly, but the genre never reached that pivotal point until now.
Granted it's not perfect, but it sure is fun and mesmerizing while it lasts. First off, the atmosphere is amazing. It really feels like you're in the jungle with all these enemies in camouflage attacking you. There is a bit of strategy involved as you have to discuss who goes where and who gets health. The game only ends when both players die, so sometimes you have stay back to let the other one take the hits. Really fun. Most levels require trekking through a jungle, fighting enemies, and completing objectives. The graphics and scenery are not only fitting, but play well with the level design perfectly.
Yes, there is also a single person mode, but from what I hear, it's nothing compared to Medal of Honor: Frontline.
Here's the bad though: The gun controls (I use a standard PS2 controller), are jerky, and the player's movements are a bit too slow. The first level consists of you walking up a ship and then firing lots of gun fire from stationary guns. While the atmosphere is beyond impressive, it gets old after a while. There are about 5-6 missions total, and unfortunately, a friend and I finished it just 5 hours on the normal setting.
There is also online play, which is somewhat cool in that exists. The online play, however, only consists or Quake like deathmatch and team deathmatches. No cooperative level game play like Socom. Unfortunately, the people who do play are not that fun to talk to, and are quite the First Person Shooter Nerds who will kill you as soon as you turn a corner. It really only works when you can get enough people for a private room.
All in all, it's a great game with great atmosphere, but way too short.
Pros:
Great atmosphere
Superb two player cooperative mode
At least has some type of online play
Levels are intuitive
Cons:
Way Too short
First two missions are pointless
Save points have to be found, cannot save anywhere
Jerky gun controls
Online play is boring, ruined by FPS nerds
Hours to Complete (Cooperative): 5 hours (normal setting)
Difficulty Level: Easy
Frustration Level: Non-existent

I got the game a week ago and all I can say is wow. The gameplay is excellent is every aspect. The weapons are neat and the A.I. is almost perfect. The graphics are top grade and I really enjoyed shooting down Zero fighters and shooting my way through each mission. The online game play is also pretty good. I reccomend this game to anyone who enjoys a FPS.
