I am not an RPG fan, but star wars: kotor has me addicted. The only problem I have with the game is its load times. I recommend installing a bigger hard drive and playing the game from the hard drive to keep the load times to a minimum. Other than that, this game is one of the best games for the xbox.

This is one of the best games to come out in recent years. I am ashamed to say that this game probably did more for the Star Wars franchise than any of the current movies which are terrible by comparison. In this game you truly can choose your own destiny and become either a Jedi following the path of light or a Sith folling the darkside. Invaribly people tend to lean towards the darkside since the Force powers seem stronger and cool, yet I found that following the path of light makes for a more complete gaming experience. I purchased the Xbox for this game!

Knights of the Old Republic is a very well developed game. From storyline to gameplay from sound effects to voice acting. All of the aspects of the game are truly expert gaming experience. Star Wars fans will be guaranteed a game which entertains them in both gaming and Star Wars universe aspects. Semi-Star Wars fans and RPG fanatics will be sure to enjoy the elaborate storyline with exciting gameplay and outstanding voice acting. Knights of the Old Republic is a radical standout from other RPGs. I highly recommend this game to all Star Wars fans and RPG fanatics.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is an excellant game even for someone like me who isn't a huge Star Wars fan.The amount of freedom and replay value in this title is amazing.Though this is definitely not a game for everyone,it is a must buy for any Star Wars or RPG fan.

Knights of the Old Republic is one of the greatest games I have played for XBOX. Everything about this game is great. Gameplay, graphics, an excellent story, interactivity, everything. The only flaw is the fighting sequences. At first they are a pain, because you choose your actions beforehand rather than doing them right as you press X. But after a while you realize that it is not that bad, because it gives you time to think about what you want to do. I also like how you can choose your own path (dark side or light side), and ultimately change the outcome of the game. But I think its best to rent it before purchasing it.

It actually took me a while to warm up to this game. Not being an RPG nut, I didn't like the combat model at first, wanting a more hack 'n slash style. It did grow on me, however, as did the game as a whole. It is in many ways better than the last couple movies!

Strengths: Awesome story; the acting is better than Episode I and II by far; some really cool looking worlds; deep combat model (does take some getting used to); characters feel varied and different. The main characters have more depth than Anakin and Padme! The light/dark paths are a cool idea, and the various solutions to problems a welcome twist. Also good animations and sound.

Weaknesses: Too linear. I was spoiled by Morrowind's immense size and sense of "go anywhere" freedom. The worlds of KOTOR aren't as big, and there's no fun/point in just exploring like in Morrowind. Pretty much all NPC's point you towards the main quest. Also, I didn't feel that the light/dark affiliation made THAT much of a difference. It stinks that you can't keep playing when you beat the game, because only at the end are you really able to see any improvement/change, and then the game ends. The graphics are good, but the face models are weak and repetitive. Also, the game may scare off rookies with its complex D&D rules (+3 modifiers, saving rolls, etc), although it's possible to just ignore them. Also, there are too many similar weapons; the 895 different kinds of blasters don't really seem to make much of a difference in actual combat.

Overall, this is an addictive game; I wish there was more to do than the main quest (there are a few dozen side quests, but once you leave a world you may not be able to come back), because I wanted to keep fine-tuning my character.

Knights rocks!!

this is exactly what i have been looking for in an xbox rpg. its not a classic all u rpgrs know. there is no battle mode. thats a little down side. but all the fun makes up for it. being able to choose between light and dark side is pretty awesome. u can also pause the game and dish out commands to ur alys in the party.

This game is great. I bought it a few days ago and have been playing it whenever I have free time. I like being evil and breaking into people's apartments and stealing their stuff. The only part that I don't like is that there is no button to fire when you aren't in combat. Over all this is a great game and you should buy it.

Hope you've got time on your hands

This game is by far one of the most awesome I've ever played. I really didn't know much about roleplaying, but it was not required to enjoy the game. You can customize and talk and just plain wander around the lovely planets and ships for hours on end.
The combat is intense without being finger-breaking.
The NPCs sometimes look the same, but the script and voice talent are superb.
I beat it ten times and still love it....which says something. Multiple plays are a must if you want to be good, evil, and experience all the great lines of dialogue.
