If You are an action person, this came isn't for you. It is long and there isn't much to control as far as combat is concerned. However, if you like RPGs, like emersive plots, great voice acting, decent(at best) graphics, and strategic combat, this game is for you. The plot is elaborate(to most), and has a very emersive enviroment. The combat is very innovative for RPGS. I cannot stress that point enough. If think that you're getting into another version of Jedi Outcast, you're sadly mistaken. It is very clearly an RPG, with an interesting way of doing combat. It is viewed in realtime, but the actions are done turn based. In the later part of the game, it becomes a very strategic to plan battles, and know who to fight and when. That may sound confusing, but if you rent it, and see what I'm trying to descibe, you'll know what I'm talking about. The graphics are decent as I said before, not innovative, but not the bottom of the barrel. Star Wars fans should know that this is the best to come out since the old days of TIE FIGHTER. It is worth playing twice, at least. Just to see the difference between the dark side and the light side. I hope you enjoy. Sorry for any grammer errors!!
Welcome to the Light Side! Best Game Ever!

This is undoubtedly the best video game I have ever played. There is nothing better than a good RPG story, and the battle style is fabulous for those all night sessions when you can't point and shoot to save your life. The story is fabulous, graphics: fabulous, characters: fabulous. I didn't know a video game could be this good. Can't wait for the sequel, but looking at the times it took for this one to come out, it's going to be a while.

As a HUGE Star Wars fan, I was extremely critical. I mean, in my eyes, only George Lucas is worthy of writing a Star Wars tale. But after playing this, I was proved wrong. The character development, the quests, the twist and turns of the plot, all up to par with "Return of the Jedi."
Now, for gameplay aspects. It's your basic D&D interface, where an invisible dice is rolled to determine whether your attack hits or misses, and if it hits, how much damage it does. You have 3 classes to choose from at the start, with 3 Jedi classes to choose from later on.
The balance of powers is implemented as well. You can choose to use the light side of the Force, and use healing and stunning opponents, or use the destructive abilities of the dark side.
I don't want to ruin the story, but choices you make determine your force alignment...
KOTOR=Best American RPG and best Xbox RPG,easily.

KOTOR is one of those games that you have to play. If you just look at screens, it won't look as fun as it is. The game is very addicting, and fun. The graphics...Ooh...the graphics. The cutscenes are incredible.Period. The in-game graphics are also very well done. The story is very good, with twists and turns. If you've played Morrowind, you know how unfun it was to read..and read...and read..and then fall asleep from reading.>_<. Well, everyone talks in this game. And when you talk to them, you never read.... Aliens speak in different languages, and you have to read. But compared to how many characters speak english, it's nothing. You're given more than enough time to read, and if you don't want to listen to gibberish, just press A to keep on reading.
I'm actually not even much of a fan of Star Wars. Hell, many Star Wars fans have said 'if this game weren't Star Wars, it'd still be just as great'. This game now joins Halo in the games you MUST own if you have an xbox. I mean, if you don't have Halo, why do you have an Xbox? For KOTOR,it's exactly the same.

This game was deffinetly worth the wait. Bioware did an excellent job capturing the essence of the Star Wars universe in this title. This game's graphics and controls are excellent. The story is good and clear even for those not familiar with Star Wars. The game's battle system and character development is good but could have been better. The generation model could have used more depth. I think that they could have made the addition of more skills and the ability to choose another race. A very good RPG for the Xbox that was lacking titles in this genre. Definetly worth your money and definetly worth the wait.
Greatest console RPG I have ever played.

I got this game because of the commercials and a few personal recommendations, it looked quite intriguing and I'm a big Star Wars fan.
There is no question that the number 1 reason to buy a game (versus renting) is the replayability. Having played a few different characters already, I can vouch for its replayability.
There are so many different options and paths you can explore and the character-to-character interactions are often interesting or hilarious. The game changes depending on how you play, and there are multiple endings. You could easily entertain yourself for hundreds of hours playing different characters all the way through to the end.
What I really enjoy about it is the flawless integration of the AD&D 3rd edition ruleset into the gameplay. If you are a dungeons & dragons fan, you will find the basis for all the calculations and game mechanics to be familiar and natural. If you're not, you will quickly learn a lot about D&D and best of all, the game calculates all of the complicated "to-hit" and "damage" calclations. Each statistic of your character makes a big difference on how you play your character. You can decide to give yourself a lot of Wisdom to be strong at Jedi powers, or just a lot of Strength and Dexterity to be an effective fighter.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this game except that quite often when you talk to aliens, the alien language starts to sound the same: the same "alien sounds" will be used to mean 10 different phrases. It gets irritating, but in no way does this affect the gameplay.
This game has a lot going for it, and it is probably the best put-together Xbox game so far. There are very few glitches (I came upon a glitch that corrected itself after a couple minutes of playing) but it has crashed once, which is disconcerting when you haven't saved for a while. But, never fear! There is always autosave to maintain your progress if you forget to save. It works about every 15 minutes.
Enjoy, and realize that dual-wield weapons is absolutely amazing...and impressive.

So far the XBOX has had Halo and a few other games as exclusives that people acually wanted to buy. Now, thanks to Bioware, we get the Best Star Wars Game Ever and maybe the Greatest RPG ever. This games graphics are supurb. Sometimes I lost track of the game looking at the landscapes and buildings. The player models are good but not the best I've ever seen. The gameplay however is the most intriging part of this game. The ability to become the most evil person is definitely fun, but being a Jedi and helping is harder yet more enjoyable in some aspects. The sound is also very good and so is the A.I. However, this game is difficult and you can get stuckon some levels. However, this also makes you play a great game even more. The level-up system is fun and easy to navigate. I hope that they make an online sequel. That could even best HALO 2 for being Best...Game...Ever.

... and quite possibly the best game I have ever played. This game is basically built on the same plan as Bioware's fantastic Baldur's Gate series, but is in almost every way the superior game. The plotting is better, the characters are more interesting, the atmosphere is richer, the graphics are more realistic, and the game play is more playable. (Never mind that it puts the Neverwinter Nights series to shame.) The overall arc of the plot is linear, but there are wide variety of different ways to play through it. The game is challenging and at times quite subtle, but is not unreasonably or frustratingly difficult (although there are a few minor balance issues depending on how you develop your character). And in my opinion it captures the essence and atmosphere of the original Star Wars trilogy better than episodes I and II or any of the fiction. I can't imagine how anyone who likes RPGs or Star Wars wouldn't absolutely love this game. I had a hard time returning to the real world.
