Story (10/10):

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic puts you in a world of complete bliss and utterly fantastic awe. This is not just a shoot-em-up game, for within the millions of pixelated characters lies a story. A story with jaw-dropping, mind-blowing twists and turns and conclusions awaiting. Choose your path, for the first time, you can choose your own destiny rather than the creators.

This game is not just one plot, nor is it a mindless adventure trekking the whereabouts of the middle of nowhere looking for purpose. No, this game is many a quests and riddles, illusions and games inside to keep the gamers on their tippy-toes at all times.

Starting out as a mysterious rebel who does not know his/her own past, fight or peacefully sneak your way through the depths of several planets, each carrying many people with many stories. You may help these people, you may be there savior and deny a reward, or you may bash their helpless heads into their skulls to create your path to the dark side. All the while making the venture across native lands toward beoming a Jedi, encounter friends, enounter foes and convert them to friends if you ever so wish. It doesn't matter, because in the end it's only you facing the evil sith lord, toe to toe, lightsaber to lightsaber.

Gameplay (9/10):

The fighting system is somewhat random, but not entirely, you can choose to create a concrete combat fighter or a wizard casting spells such as lighting, wind, life draining, lightsaber throwing, etc. Many different various skills such as stealth, persuasion, even computer hacking and lockpicking (Sort of).

You can stay close using lightsabers, one in each hand or a double-bladed one. Or you stray afar using blaster rifles and pistols. You have many compainions, droids, jedis, dark side mercenaries and wookies, each with a charming, dramatic, or brutal life story, which will only be concluded as the game furthers on.

Very impressive dialogue and screenwriting, graphics and realism are also mediocre.

I can guarantee, with the low $20 price, this game will give you hours of fun, each day, for at least a month. And trust me, when that month is up, you will not want to get rid of it, you will get the urge to play it again because once you start this game you are hooked on a long-term engagement.

The only thing I find wrong with this game is it's sequel.

Pros:

~ Excellent sound, effects, dialogue, screenplay, scenery, designing and story writing.
~ Hundreds of weapons, armor, with belts, gloves, arm bands, implants and masks to further increase skills.
~ Hundreds of side quests with extravagant rewards and conclusions that will keep you in awe all day long.
~ No wondering from world to world in search of plots, they are usually easy to find but challenging (not boring) to accomplish.
~ No matter what, you can always play the game a different way, so you would be just beginning your quest as soon as you beat the game.
~ Neat little area from xbox live downloadable content, which can open up another plot and give you VERY nice weapons and two new lightsaber colors. (Turquoise, orange)
~ You can change the overall game difficulty, it's default setting is medium.

Cons:

~ No type of multiplayer games in any circumstance. It's surprising they didn't make a co-operative option.
~ Sometimes annoying loading transitions, can take maybe 10-15 seconds at most. I'd advise having some music handy if it's your 2nd or 3rd time through the game.

This is definitely the best game ever conceived. I have mastered it and beaten it so many times it's not even funny. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me about it. The only bad thing about this game, is its length.

Awesome Game!!!

I completed the game 4 times using 2 Light side and 2 Dark Side. This is the best Star Wars Game ever!!! If you don't have it get it. Also if you like seeing cool new items and find out how a lightsaber really works get this game right away!!! You don't know what you are missing, well now maybe you do!

Amazingly complex

First off - I don't usually play role playing games (RPGs). That is precisely what this game is. Instead of dungeons and dragons you have jedi and sith. So if you were looking for something with fast gameplay and action, you'll have to look for another star wars game.

In Knights of the Old Republic you build characters, find weapons, go on quests, etc. just like most RPGs. What sets this game apart is the complexity. Your actions during the game effect whether your character is on the dark side of the force, the light, or somewhere inbetween. The maps are huge, and there are hundreds of characters to interact with.

I'm usually not a fan of RPGs. But this game is different from most because the gameplay isn't exactly linear. You might have to get from point A to point B, but there are a variety of ways to get there: sneaking around badguys, overloading computer security, or just going in blasting.

This game will engross you and take a lot of your time. Anyone who likes the Star Wars franchise should at least try this game.

Enjoyable game for even mature gamers.

Star Wars KOTOR is without a doubt the best thing to happen to the franchise since Return of the Jedi. If your tired of the typical console game of 'put something in the center of the screen and shoot it', then this game is probably what you are looking for. Also, its hard for mature gamers to find games that are good while not being childish in graphics or gameplay. As a mature gamer, I highly recommend this game to other mature gamers looking to break away from the typical console experience. If this game doesn't meet your expectations, then you can always go back to pokemon!!

When I first started playing this game, I did not think it was all that great. The graphics didn't strike me and the combat wasn't all that entertaining, at first. As I continued to play, however, I became more and more immersed in the game and I became addicted. I am not the type of gamer who plays for hours at a time but I became that person with this game. I was obsessed with my character and the story line. The depth of this game is absolutely amazing as you have so many choices and the choices you make have an impact on the rest of the game. One you become good with swords or lightsabers, the combat picks up too. I am not a fan of combat with blasters but when I began to use the swords and sabers, it all picked up and became quite intense. I recommend this game to anyone that enjoys strategy or role playing games and to anyone who has lots of time to simply play.

BEST Star Wars game by far...

.. And I have been playing them since I got 'Rebel Assault'

Now for KOTOR. The only RPG's I've played before this are Diablo & Diablo 2 (both excellent games). I ran out and got it the day it came out and was not disappointed. It was well worth the wait.

The game commands are easy to understand, there are so many side missions that you can play for hours on end. The storyline is also excellent. This is Star Wars as it was meant to be.

I have read other reviews that say the game 'freezes' during some cut scenes. I have finished tha game twice without any said 'freezes'.

I do have 2 complaints:
1- No Multiplayer: It is 'Live enabled' which means they will have content available for download but no multiplayer.
2- Not enough choices for character creation at the beginning of the game.

The Force is strong with this one.

After playing this game for 16 days, (I finally finished it after 91 hours of game play), I now understand why this game won over 40 game of the year awards, it is just-that-good! Try not to breeze your way right through it though, or you'll miss a lot of the wonderful things that this game can bring to your gaming experience. Take your time, and enjoy it. Not your average type of game where you just mash the button to attack an enemy, this game requires you to think befor you do things. It really is a fun game to play. And overall, that's what playing games are all about... having fun!

This game was by far the best non-sports video game I have ever played. The only drawback was that the game ended...

Its a fact that this game is one of the best games since Halo. I even beat this game twice and I still play it. Awsome action, storyline, graphics, concept, and entertainment. Its worth the price get it. The only people who would hate it are idiots, older people,or blind kids. No multiplayer, but who cares the other person can just watch, it's even fun to just watch action, enspecialy fighting darth Malek the bad dude.
