This is the best resident evil game ive ever played! It may not be like all the other ones but re4 is the best one. it is easily the best gamecube title out right now. Ive played this game so many times and with all the extra unlockables, im hooked! This is mainly an action title, not a survival horror so it probably wont scare you as much as other resident evils. There wasn't a part that scared me in this game. If you play resident evil for the scare factor or because you like the old cinematic camera angles found in previous re games, than sorry. You might not like this game as a resident evil game. But you might like it as an action game. For everyone else, i know you will like it! It just might upset all of the hardcore resident evil guys.

I bought this game thinking it was just another game. I wanted something to add to my collection. But when I got this game, I was surprised. There isn't anything wrong! The graphics are beautiful, the controls are fairly easy to get used to, and they allow for smooth gameplay. The sound effects are incredible. It makes you feel like a movie. Get this game, a sweet TV, and surround sound. It makes it feel like you're in the game. This is a MUST have game. But make sure to wait for the PS2 version. It's going to have more feautures. =)

I have to admit, I hate horror games. But this is game is different. First of all it's not a first person and its really not a third person. You have an over the shoulder view which really suits the game well. You are right in the action. People are coming at you right and left but you feel kind of helpless(especially with low ammo). It does not hurt that the graphics are gorgeous either. Another plus for the game is that the buttons could be mapped any better. This is one of the few games that I'm completely happy with the way the buttons are mapped. I also like how you can upgrade your weapons. Last but not least, I enjoy how the background music changes once someone start walking towards you.
My only complaint with the game is that the hit detection is kinda off. Sometimes I find myself shooting someone in the head but don't die. They don't even slow down! That doesn't happen much but when ammo is scarce, it hurts.

After reading many of the reviews posted I was skeptical yet after having completed the game I confess that RE4 is the best video game I've ever played. It's apparent that Capcom put alot love, sweat and blood (pun intended) into it. The graphics, sound efx and music are stellar. There are many small details--fog enshrouded cemetaries, glowing chandeliers, the creek of rickety wood bridges--that assist in creating such a cool, enveloping atmosphere. The action is plentiful and gore-soaked and NOT suitable for children. It is also truly addictive so only play it if you're not in the middle of an important project! Enjoy.

No game packs more bang for your buck into a title; When you finish it the first time, you are ready to go through it again; And then once more...Gone are the old-school controls that made the previous games a mixed blessing; The movment is fluid and highly adaptable; While a strafe mode would have been nice, you get used to this pretty much right away. The graphics are amazing, and the variety of creatures, bosses, and locales are nothing short of impressive. The detail is really...and I hate to use this word...breathtaking. The interactive cut scenes are intense and new in terms of interacting with the game. Everyone I have loaned this too or given them as a gift has been floored. It is required playing for anyone who appreciates a deep, detailed, involving game that shows you things you have never seen before. So what if Leon looks like an '80's David Bowie...If you haven't played this, and horror is your thing, you are missing out. One of the 5 greatest horror games ever.

My friend is a rabid Resident Evil fan and she had read all the spoilers for the game. I knew there was some twist to make it different and I had to kick her out to prevent her from spoiling the plot. A game like this is what keeps a classic series fresh. Yes, Capcom could have kept the zombies and Umbrella. By choosing not to, they prove that Resident Evil can branch out. And the story line leaves openings for more changes in future titles.
The basic line of the story goes like this. Leon Kennedy is now a member of a special government task force since he survived the Raccoon City outbreak. The president's daughter Ashley was kidnapped by a cult and he is dispatched to Europe (I think he's specifically in Spain). He comes across an old world village which seems quite normal. Yet after a few encounters he finds that the villagers are not normal. He realzes something much bigger may be at stake and presses on to find Ashley and the real horror of the village. And as a note again, just cause the villagers are not zombies does not make them any less creepy or threatening! Their AI is well done and if you are unsatisfies by killing them, just wait.
Game play is great for this title. The behind the back view is great and the taregting is realistic, if a bit awkward at first. Again the AI for the enemies is nearly flawless and I've only seen a few occassions of real nasty clipping. And the enemies themselves are well designed. The statement I read somewhere about monsters that make Nemisis look like a kitten are very accurate. You really need to watch out for instant death in this game and bosses are incredible. To describe one without giving away the plot is essentially a mass of...something on a wall with tentacles and a mouth that will rip Leon in half.
Resident Evil 4 is perhaps one of the very best of the series. It adds a lot to Leon's character from Resident Evil 2 and expands on the series. What other forces aside from Umbrella have biological weapons in the world? Well thanks to RE4 now we know.
wheres the Resident evil spirit?:\

I have a mixed feelings for this game.so..From the 2 points of view:
1.A gamer point of view.
Its good.Graphics, control, everything, action slash shoot em up, lots of mini-scenarions aka mercenaries.Secrets.Worth buying for sure.
2.A big Resident evil fan point of view.
Ok..what the hell happened to the RE trademark-zombies?I want the good old zombies, old creatures, old music and more suspence athmosphere *starts crying*.Theres way too much action and interaction with numerous characters in this game. And Leon-I never considered him as a part of RE world, why the hell he got a game of his own?And what a stupid plot-saving a presidents daughter?Ok,there are a few good things- we still have Wesker and Ada there, something that reminds you it IS a Resident evil game, not a Leon-action game. But all I can say is that Im really disappointed.Well, things arent THAT bad, there is still RE survivor and its much worser;)! But if RE5 comes out like this...
Anyways, a good stand alone game. And a bad RE game for those fans, who like the classic RE.
Great game, glad I chose this over others

I purchased this game with another product on this site so I could get SuperSaver shipping (the other product wasn't quite $25, so I had to get something more to get free shipping), and I decided to purchase this game, as I had been wanting it for quite a while, and the time was perfect. The game is absolutely excellent, but I do not suggest it for someone that cannot take difficult games, because I had trouble beating certain parts, and at times almost getting frustrated with the difficulty (the steep difficulty is the only reason I rated it 4/5 overall). I know the upcoming Wii version of this game has lower difficulty options (along with some nice bonuses in the other versions, along with it's own), so if you want to try this game at a lower difficulty with more features and currently own a Wii, then wait on that version, as the USA Gamecube version only has "Normal" as the lowest difficulty.

This game is perfect. "There are two kind of people in the world, the people that plaied this game and the people that did not play this game. The second group is very happy." Resident 4 is the best!
Someone plz put this franchise out of its misery

Sure, dumbing down the latest installment of the RE series may appeal more to the general audience, but all in all this is still a very bad game. The first thing I noticed was that Capcom is still too cheap to hire decent dialogue writers. I was also saddened by the lack of eeriness which has always been a trademark in the series. I guess by making the controls easier the only way to make the game even remotely challenging was to increase the player's adversaries in both number and speed. Basically, RE has been reduced from its previous status as survival horror masterpiece to second-rate third-person-shooter with horror elements. There are virtually no puzzles to speak of, the bosses are easy, and taking what little realism existed in finding weapons lying around, Capcom upped the ante by installing a merchant who basically follows you around and magically appears just before a boss fight to sell you whatever provisions you may need. The story is pretty straight forward with little to no surprises, and the boss fight is insanely easy. It really felt like Capcom threw the concept of the game together over night (copying invasion of the body snatchers rather than the living dead series) and spent the rest of the development working on the graphics.
