Having never played a game from the Metroid series before, I know it's sad, this game was a enjoyable. The only problem I have with it is the controls.. I know everybody says that but it's just my opinion they could've been a little better. However, everything else in the game shines. The story was compelling and well thought out, the sound fit the atmosphere very well, and the graphics were amazing. All in all this game was a great experience for me and I'd recommend it to anyone else looking for an enjoyable game to spend some time on. 4/5

If you rated this game 1 star, you have no appreaciation for video games, if you rated Animal Crossing 1 star, I appreciate you. Retro Studios is a new Texas company and already in the competition along with Square Enix, Atari, Sega, Nintendo, SCEA, SCEE, SCEJ, Konami, Activision, Namco, Monolith Soft, Microsoft, Sucker Punch, Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog!!!
This is the best game on this planet!!! *Peace Out*

I love the metroid series. metroid prime is no exeption but it is really to hard fo r younger children or even for people who just aren't any good at video games. And, i don't see how you can compare this to the halo series. I will strongly discourage this game because of its immense difficulties, eerie enviroments, and immense frustration. ex. there maybe only 1 save station throughout 30 minutes of playing the game. this equals frustration! not to mention i got all the way to wear you get the thermal visor and i only have 20 missiles! i basically had to restart the whole game because i would have to go all the way back(another thing that bugs me is that there are no teleporters or any kind of shorcut to get you from one world to the next) to the chozo ruins or other stinky places to find at least 10 more power ups. I don't know what obsessed person would want to scan 100% of the game. Besides the fact of immense frustration this game is perfect. NO loading times! this really transfer speed of the gamecube's disc drive! imagine if you were playing this game on the ps2! it would take you a century to get through the game! IN conclusion, if you don't like extreme difficulty where it totally takes you out of the fun by it setting you all the way back to where you were maybe 30 min ago then i strongly suggest halo2 or some other shooter with lots of variable difficulties. Think twice before purchasing this game.

From what I've seen, this game seems to be shaping up nicely (that's a HUGE understatement). Graphics are awesome, video footage of the game show super-smooth gameplay, controls are easy (I've been practicing on my controller since I found 'em on-line), and it looks rather challenging.
But for now, I'd like to state something for all you Metroid- Prime's-view-will-ruin-it people: GIVE ME A BREAK! With small and claustrophobic areas and hallways, how would you be able to see through Samus? There could be an enemy right in front of you, and you wouldn't know it! So, Nintendo decided that first person view would be best, and I agree. And I know many others that do too.
Awesome New Style

Unlike many, I have not played a single original Metroid game, as I am sure I am not the only one. However, looking at this game and the new style it brings to gaming looks incredible! The style of a first person shooter and ability for immense controls makes me want to buy it!! whether an original Metroid player or not. Just take a good look at the screen shots, and you will see that this game will go a long way for Nintendo and the gaming industry in the near future. I am definetly going to buy it, how about you?

HORRIBLE game. the graphics in this game are no where close to what peole say they are. the gameplay is dull. all you do is load up your guns then shoot. the storyline if you can call it that. does not compare at all to halo. and the game was completely boring. i expected it to be a first person shooter. but this game makes you go around and collect. i had to do tedious collecting for hours. before i could get back into the action. theres no storyline. and the controls are a travesty. youd think just one time. someone would bring up hey. this game has bad controls. its virtaully unplayable. but no one does. because there all tr==== gamecube su--==s the control makes fighting imposible. and you CANT customise it. the whole survival theme isnt here. because the game is easy as hell. with no challenge whatsoever. the only challenge the game gives you is controlling that atricious controller and camera. the main characther doesnt compare to the cool master cheif. there are no instresting characthers in the game. and if you find one good thing in this horrible apitimy of a game. the controls bugs and collection cruizes will ruin all of it. as far as being in halos leauge? why dont people just play halo instead of dissing it. and then theyll never leave there xbox. if you dont have an xbox. pick oneup today and buy halo.
boring and repetitive

Everyone seems to love this game. We have Metroid Prime for the game cube, and all I can say is "yawn". The game is boring, repetitive. It mostly involves shooting buttons, beating lame bosses, and simple minded 3d mazes and space corridors remniscent of half-life on PC with less scripting. It might appeal to small-minded teens or as a rental, but I think this is one of the worst game cube games. The others must be looking at the game boy advance game, or something else ...

I did not care for this game. Every one else loves it. I see that a lot went in to it, but I did not enjoy it. I do like Mario Sunshine, and I like Zeldas new graphics...
