I rented this game from blockbuster. Then I started to play. The game started out OK but then started to drop in intrest. This game got boring fast, and I returned the stupid thing early it was so bad! My advise, get Golden Sun for GBA, Wind Waker for GC, or FFX for PS2.
Samus is back after 8 years!

Wow. What can i say. The video looks amazing and it's metriod! I've been waiting ever since Super Metriod came out on the SNES for a sequel. And now, Nintendo has grant my wish. The Gameplay looks great even in 3D(the old one was 2D) and the graphics are outstanding! A must-buy for any Nintendo fan or and adventure gamer. Buy it! You won't be disapointed!
Miserable for a casual gamer

The "save stations" ruin this game for those of us who like to play video games in our free time, rather than all of the time. You can only save your game at certain locations on the map, and it is not uncommon to go 30 - 60 minutes without reaching the next save point, OFTEN WITH BOSS BATTLES JUST BEFORE.
This ruins the battles, because who wants to risk dying just to have to repeat the same 30 minute hike to face the boss (and possibly die) again? Instead, you pause the game and read the walkthrough, eliminating any fun in figuring out how to beat the bosses yourself.
Even for hardcore gamers, this game leaves a lot to be desired. The combat is uninspired button mashing (the only challenge in the last few boss battles is not any sort of finesse, but rather keeping your thumb/the controller from breaking long enough to defeat the enemies). The "story" is presented only through hard-to-read-and-click-through blurbs you find on computer consoles and walls. And the backtracking -- oh, the backtracking!
Overall, I am hugely disappointed in this purchase for my Wii, and if this is the best the GameCube had to offer, I'm glad I never got one!
Way to difficult and confusing

After being told it was the best game ever, I bought this game and was very very disappointed. You walk around lost half the game, get an idea of what to do and where to go then get lost again for another 30 minutes. I am usually very good at harder more complex puzzling games, but this one just pushes the limit. 2 stars for graphics those were pretty good.
not so good!

i hate to say this, but this game is over-rated. what i mean is that this game has difficult controls. i have only gotten to the very first part of the game, but i was frustrated enough to write this review. it may or may not be an accurate review of this game, but from what i have read of other reviews is that this game is difficult. and ya know this is supposed to be one of the better titles for the game cube, the cube really suffers from sub-standard titles. i will give is game another shot, but i hate when i buy games and have to spend a lot of time trying to figure them out, that takes a lot away from the game. i really don't like to buy strategy guides, but for this one i think i might have to pick one up, or thumb through one at the store for some tips. sorry metroid fans, but this game isn't all that it is cracked up to be.
NOT RELEASED YET!

This game is dumb! It is impossible to win a level with out having to start over again 500,000,000,000,000,000,000,(...)times!!!! There is a little bit of cool stuff, but otherwise it's too violent! The scan visor is really cool, but when you scan dead Space Pirates, the cause of death is gross! It's usually something like, "Cause of death: removal of internal organs" or "Cause of death: the severing of the spinal cord"! Belive me, if you have kids under 10 do not buy this for them! It's too violent.
Anybody remember Castlevania on N64?

Konami, a well respected game company, released a 3D version of their popular game Castlevania for the N64 some time ago. What was the result? A horrible disappointment. I feel that Metroid for the Gamecube may suffer the same fate. With "Symphony of the Night", Konami proved that a 2D side scroller could still hang with the best of the best in the age of 3D. Nintendo should have followed suit, but everyone has to learn the hard way I guess. True...this is a very beatiful game to look at, but the play mechanics are going to be what makes or breaks this game. In the previos games you could shoot enemies hovering above you and use them as platforms. I'm curious to see how this element is going to play out in a 3D environment. Since the game isn't out, it's hard to give it a fair review. However, going on what I've seen so far, the graphics are top notch and worhty of a 5. As a whole though, I can only give the game 2 stars. Mainly because I'm a big fan of Metroid, but I would have been much happier if they stuck with the original format. When the game comes out, I'll take a look and make my final judgement. And contrary to the opinions of the last person to review this game, Samus is a woman. Happy gaming...
