Wow. What can i say. The video looks amazing and it's metriod! I've been waiting ever since Super Metriod came out on the SNES for a sequel. And now, Nintendo has grant my wish. The Gameplay looks great even in 3D(the old one was 2D) and the graphics are outstanding! A must-buy for any Nintendo fan or and adventure gamer. Buy it! You won't be disapointed!

Samus can do everything from 2D and then some in this game!

Well first off the good news is Metroid in 3D is that it works just fine. At first I was skeptical about the whole first-person mode, but after endless hours of playing, I still couldn't get enough. The camera and controls are just perfect. A little worried about losing that great 2D feel from the past? Samus can do all the moves from the previous games and then some, plus the game just looks fantastic! You also have four viewing visors, remember that X-ray scope from Super Metroid? Its here, plus a combat, scanning, and thermal visor. You also have a targeting system for any nearby items of interest you will find with the L button, also you can use it to focus on enemies, switches and scanning points, launching your grappling hook(yes its back from Super Metroid!), or just to center your view and strafe side-to-side. Remember this button because you'll be using it a lot. Metroid Prime is much better than hardcore fans expected thanks to the controls and the awesome gameplay! But for those who still prefer the awesome 2D action of the classic games, Nintendo also has Metroid Fusion for the Game Boy Advance! Get either one, heck get them both! They are both awesome!

The Samus legacy continues...

Samus Aran, heroin of the first three Metroid games in the series. It seems like she destoryed the Metroid enemy but...did she? In No.2, she just almost killed the entire Metroid population but a few survived. Samus thought she'd rid the world of the pesky little devils but now, it's time to take care of the little buggers once more. The last game was one the Super Nintendo system and was a total bust in Japan but the sales here sky-rocketed! The reason no new metroid game came out was because of the Japanese public. But we clamored for another new Metroid. Many people were upset of Samus getting put into first-person view! Notice I didn't say shooter because this game is so far from that genre, it shouldn't be disposed because of it's first-person view. But, it looks like the game was made to be put into a 3-D universe. It looks another classic game of the Metroid series is going to strike the 'Cube...

its not primarily a first person shooter. It's supposed to be more of an action game. The view is just in first person, you supposeabley dont shoot much in the game...

Samus is back after 8 long years of waiting, and what a way to come back!!! So far, the game has exceeded its expectations (even though we got a little shaky when Nintendo gave the job to a new developer). All of the bounty hunters moves are back including her morph ball and screw attack, and of course her signature guns, but the games perspective takes a whole new twist when you control Samus behind-the-visor. This incredibly popular series can only get better!!

The Legend Continues

So the Legend continues. Nintendo hasnt had too many GREAT games for their systems over the last few systems. Yeah there was Zelda, Mario and James Bond on N64, but besides that, the games basically have [disappointed]. Metroid Prime will put Nintendo back on top. Forget Halo and the upcomming sequal. People say, oh but they changed it into a first person shooter. i say, "and thats bad how.....?????" First person shooter will only make the game more fun and more realistic. Retro has done an outstanding job rendering this game's graphics. This game alone will make you forget about all those baby, Seaseme Street games Nintendo has put out. Expect a lot of action, huge levels, and stunnig game-play. This is going to be the best game of the year, period. All i have to say is, Nov cant come soon enough.

I have been allowed to play deeper into the game

I had the priviledge of playing a couple of hours of Metroid Prime, and I liked what I saw.

The game began with Samus on an outside platform. Thousands of asteroids were flying across the sky, and she could go to a clear spot on the platform and shoot them. Ultimately, however, she needed to search her surroundings for hidden devices that would open the doors of the structure. The adventure doesn't really begin until Samus enters the building.

This game has all kinds of terrain to explore--including some very Turok-esque jungles. These are huge places. I have no idea how long it will take people to finish the game, but I'm betting better than 60 hours.

Seen through Samus's visor, Metroid Prime is every bit as much about exploration and puzzle solving as it is about shooting. Samus's visor includes a window that exposes hidden signs and symbols. Once you uncover these clues, it is up to you to figure out how to arrange them to unlock door and find hidden items.

Metroid Prime's camera shifts to the third-person perspective when Samus curls up in a ball and rolls places. She rolls through tunnels that are otherwise too small to explore. By placing explosives on the ground, she can bounce her balled-up self to reach elevated tunnels.

The game also has these really nifty half-pipe areas. Once you find the right explosives, you can launch Samus over the top of the half-pipes to reach otherwise inaccessible ledges.

Per past Metroid games, Metroid Prime has plenty of creepy vermin to kill.

Thanks to the first-person perspective, Metroid Prime does not suffer the irritating camera problems that have plagued so many of the latest 3D games. You are inside Samus's helmet, so you see what she sees. Better look quickly, though. When the action gets going, outer space thingies will come at you from all directions.

The art direction in this game is excellent beyond belief. I doubt that any PlayStation 2 game will ever reach this level of graphic quality. This even rivals Halo--and that is saying a lot.

The big complaint about Metroid Prime is that played from the first-person perspective, it cannot possibly have the same search-and-explore feel as earlier games--particularly Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo. This was a fair concern--but Nintendo guards its franchises carefully and Retro Studios has been true to the original vision. Metroid Prime does have that perfect blend of explore and shoot.

Actually, for those of you who play PC games, Metroid Prime feels a little--and I did say a little--like System Shock II from Looking Glass. If you played System Shock II as a naval officer instead of a spy or a marine, it was about exploring and setting traps and hacking into systems.

The weakness in this comparison is that the navy guy in System Shock II could not strap on anti-gravity boots or swing across ceilings--Samus does. System Shock II was brilliant in its sci fi reality and its feeling of danger. Metroid Prime has a more powerful fantasy element.

I, obviously, have not had the chance to finish the game, but I love this game. I absoultely love it.

A Honest Expectation From a Fan, a Gamer, and a Player

The game is not out yet, nor has it really shown too much gameplay yet. I am a huge fan of the original games and I find my opinion on this game mixed. For instance, I agree turning the game into a First Person Shooter might be good or bad. Personally I believe it will be a negative of the game. The third person mode seems to only appear when you turn into a ball, and that might make the game less memorable. I remember the original games, specifically the one on Super Nintendo. I believe the third person perspective is a positive idea because the games style and finesse is generated from it. In Super Metroid, Samus never said anything in the game. She only spoke briefly at the beginning of the game to sum up the story. But from then on she never said a word. She's alone on a planet of aliens, who could she talk to?

It sounds like I'm getting off the point but I'm not. I'm trying to say that the 3rd person side scrolling in the Super Metroid told the story without any dialogue. If you can see out of her helmet it promotes a more panicy and closed minded viewpoint. Super Metroids visual style in the game was that no matter what was happening Samus was the character you were watching, and the things that are happening you see at all times. It takes away from the game if Samus tries to run, and your just suddenly cut down which often happens in FPS's.

I also believe that older games on Super Nintendo had a certain style to them, because they didn't have the graphics to support simple stories or backgrounds like they do now. To get ahead of the rest in games back then you had to use innovation and style instead of graphics. This game looks graphically impressive, but as far as gameplay, it appears to be just another idea. The Idea of making it a FPS is a novel idea, but the transition HAS to be a choice. If you cannot change between first and third person at all times, this games going to take a dive.

I gave it 4 stars because I assume Nintendo won't botch this game, and it will be rather enjoyable dispite its possible flaws. I also think the First-Person-Third-Person dispute, while not totally able ruin the game, will promptly stop its rise to greatness. I think it will be a solid buy, but its hard to say if it'll be as good as only I can hope.

For the final word, I'd say it'll be a solid title, but maybe with some flaws that'll keep it out of the eye of fame.

Man this game is really good when i first played it at my freinds house i thought it was really boring untill he showed me all of the video graphics and stuff it so cool that we beated the game and showed me how much i really like it. I wish i could've got that game because everytime i think about it it just makes me go crazy not to have one, because metroid prime is an all time best 1 player games i have ever had. Plus i even bought all of the metroid games that was released a long time ago and to tell they dont compare to the ones right now that we have.
