Shenmue is THE BEST game ever. The plot combined with the graphics, the music,and the almighty game play make an experience nobody could ever forget. If you have a Dreamcast, this game is why you got it. If you don't have a DC, get one. Now. Noone should miss out on an experience like this.

Shenmue is the best game ever!! You're tracking down the man (Lan Di) who killed your father and get revenge! The only downside to this game is that you don't find him. The game ends with a to be continued. (At least it isn't at a cliffhanger!)

I highly recommened this game! Yeah, I know it drags out in certain parts, but the story kept me at the controls for hours, wanting to know what happens next! Also, you'll want to play Shenmue II. I just finished it the other day. (The European version of course) It was excellent as well. I highly recommend it as well.

This game is a pretty good game but you better have the patience of Job. The game starts off really slow but after you get it going it becomes really good. I would recommend buying the book to get through it. Otherwise slitting your wrist while taking a warm bubble bath might be a little more fun.

This game is amazing for its features of breathtaking 3D graphics, touching orchestra music with it's own soundtrack, the realistic ,life like relationships made with hundreds of people all different in their own ways, impressive environments that change with time, weather that dramatically effects environments,and last, but certainly NOT least, the ability to play freely. This is not a game of rushing. This is not a game of taking your time. This is a game of being yourself.

What can I tell you about Shenmue that 191 other reviews have not. Shenmue is not just the queen mother of video games, it isn't just the best Dreamcast game ever, it's not just a game with more games in it, it isn't just another game with tons of replay value,ect..... Shenmue is life as weird as it may sound, and captures most of the exciting things in life for me. Martial Arts, cats, food, friends, beautiful Asian woman, video games, the 80's, and many more of the finer things in life. As you probably have heard in other reviews Shenmue allows you to waste time and explore without always having to be on a linear quest. I put 10 hours into Final Fantasy X today and even though it was fun, Shenmue still is my favorte game and allows me much more freedom. Do yourself a favor a spend that piece of paper with Andrew Jackson's face on it and buy Shenmue.

This game took my breath away. The graphics are amazing, the story excellent, and the suspense never seems to fade. The cutscenes in this game are quite long and advance the story very well. The musical score in this game is truly worth a purchase alone because it mixes asian and european influences together. The one thing that kinda bothered me about this game was the voice acting. This game would have been a whole lot better if they left the voices in Japanese. This is one of my all time favourite games and right now, I only have two games that stand out from the rest. This game is a must buy. If you don't have a Dreamcast, well than, buy one, this game is worth the purchase.

(...) The Game itself is Wonderful. The Graphics are definently some of dreamcasts best. The fighting seqences are amesome, fun , and challeging as hell. the story is fun and puzzling. The Gameplay is Great . Hats off to Yu Sazuki. Great job. The game is not easy. However I would say that it is overrated. The Main flaw I had was that the plot was very slow in the first disk. but by disks 2 and 3. There was constant action and fighting sequences, and battles, which is what made the game so great. This I would have to say is one of the only RPG's I have ever aprriciated. ( I normally hate RPG's). But if you enjoy RPG's and have the patience for slow storylines and bad endings that show that Xbox ripped you off( god damn them at Xbox. I'll never say that namewithout getting mad, Thats how much I got into the game and wanted to continue to Shenmue 2) Then definently buy this game

Shenmue is one of the best graphics games ive ever played on dreamcast. You get to go and fight a group of angels that are mad (lol). I think this should be one of the best games for dreamcast except one thing made it so incredibly stuped. DUH! The game is way too short. 3 discs should be alot but they are not. This game is about Ryo Hazuki from the Hazuki Dojo in Yamanose. His father was murdered by the secret man Lan di sama. He is Ryo's main target for revenge so he tries to kill him. (And for people who want to fight him you dont get too). Lan Di will not fight you until a girl named SHENHUA Jona meets you and you destroy him. There are 16 Shenmues if im correct. This game is great but its too short. And the weather and time are very accurate.
