Alright, You've probably read the reviews. 99% of the people either loved the game, or hated it with a passion. Personally, I'm one of those who loved it. It has a semi-slow pace(you don't need to race through it), but the details are astounding. After you've gotten used to the controls, it becomes addicting. If you have several hours to dedicate to playing games, I recommend buying this game. The graphics and visual effects are breath taking, but not perfect. There are slight flaws you'll be able to pick out, early on. Almost everything is accessable to you. You can play games in the local arcade, feed and pet a kitten, and even make phone calls. These activities and many more will get you caught up in the amazing depths this game provides. If you are not the type of person who likes to explore amazing environments and make use of every second of gameplay, don't buy this game. I recommend you rent it first. Get a taste of the gameplay first, then , if it appeals to you, buy and enjoy it. Like me, many of my friends have formed an addiction to this game. We all have one similar dislike. I won't spoil the ending for you, but the game ends in an inconvenient place. It is obvious that Sega intends to make a sequel fairly soon, but that means I would have to spend another fifty bucks just to finish the story I got myself caught up in. I was slightly disappointed in the ending, but I am waiting for the sequel. I won't let the cost stop me. I'm one of the many people who fell in love with this saga, and I intend to finish what I started. Thank you for reading my review, and I hope I helped you decide. ENJOY!

Yu Suzuki changed the world of sega with Shenmue. This adventure, fighting game sends you on a trip you will never forget. This action packed game sends you on the edge of your seat. This high drama sends you into the world of Japan having you meet new people trying to find the man that killed you father. This game brings you into a real world with real citys. I checked it up. This game changed the world of Dreamcast and all Sega systems. You get to handle forcklifts and get to go against gangs like the MadAngels and tough sailors at bars. This game is rated T for teens but im only 12 and i've beaten Shenmue and Shenmue 2. Meet anonymous characters like Ryo Hazuki, Ine-san, Fuku-san, Iwao Hazuki and Master Chen. You wont want to miss this game that sends RPG to a different level. Dont miss this.

I love this game its probobly my favorite game. This is a must on anybodys list. I cant wait for Shenmue 2!!!!!!!!!!!

Although this game is scoffed by many action or FPS gamers, this game deserves to be played by everyone. Even if the "find this and go there at 11:30 to find out where that is" plot of the game turns you off, you should at least play this game to see all the great work put into the city of Yokosuka. And there is more to this game that doing tasks and exploring. The free-battle system is done well. There are dozens of different moves, each made to get you out of any situation. One thing I think could have been done better is the voices. Ryo seems to be emotionless at all times, and some of the other pedestrians remind me of some Monty Python movies, but all in all, if you are trying to ward off 70 gang members (which if you get far enough, you will have to do), you don't really notice or care about the voices. No matter what your favorite game style is, you should definately at least rent this game.. ~Colin Connors

Shenmue rocks! It's the most realistic game for the Dreamcast yet. You can interact with almost every item in the game. The graphics are extraordinary! One of my favorite features is the "real-time." It changes from day to night just like in real life! Also, the weather changes from day to day! Some people may think Shenmue is a bit boring but if you like games where you can do almost anything, you'll love Shenmue!!!

First of all, this game is simply amazing! Their is a huge amount of detail everywhere. It is so much playing this because of all the variety of gameplay. You've got arcade games, a point where you drive a motorcycle, QTEs, a Vitua Fighter battle system... The list goes on. The only drawback is all the people you have to talk to. If there was more action, it would've been better. But this is still an awesome game. GO BUY IT NOW!

I think this is the best RPG game ever. It's just like your in Japan! I beat the game and I have to get number two. I love this game. Shenmue 2 I hope it's better that the first. Warning: I suggest a stradegy guide because you have to do everything it tells you or you will never beat the game.

Now where do i start with a game hat's been in the works for five years? the graphics are simply superior to any i've ever seen. the gameplay is fun easy and well rounded. the music is to die for. BY ALL MEANS, BUY THIS GAME!

This game is by far the most interesting and interactive game I have ever played. So many worlds to see and it is as if I am actually there. The graphics are excellent and everything is done and painstaking detail. You can go from looking at a phone book to watching a cockroach crawl across a kitchen counter. I think that anyone and everyone who has a dreamcast should get this one. There's even another chapter on its way to stores.

Only on problem that I have found. Some rumors about the second disc not working properly, sadly is true. I had to send mine back and get it replaced. But don't let it get you down. They replaced it and I was able to fully experience Shenmue.

This game is amazin' the story's great and the graphics are so realistic. I think this is the best game I've ever played on my Dreamcast. You get so involved in the game you forget you're even playing a game.
