An Epic Game That Breaks New Ground!!!

There is only one word to describe this game: Awesome!!! This game has everything from a highly detailed 3D world unlike anything I've seen in a game!!! Ever! An awsome plot that makes you WANT to keep playing as much as you can so you can unlock the the rest of the story AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!!! "Magic Weather" and "Time Control" make this game even more life-like than most RPG's (Even though this game has RPG element's in it)!!! And the QTE is something we've NEVER seen in a video game before! Which makes this game more original than others. Now some complain that the game is too slow, and for some it might come out like that. This game is NOT for everyone!!! However I think everyone should get the chance to play it and try something unlike any game we've played before! Although I do find it annoying that this is only "Chapter 1" and we have 15 more chapters to go untill the game is compleat! Which means we have to empty out a lot of pocket money to play the whole game! But other than that this is a great game that should be played by EVERYONE!!! And remember, it's only on Dreamcast! Take THAT Sony!!!!!

Playing this game is like playing a good movie. Avenge your fathers death. Its the best game i have ever played on any console. You can interact with just about anything you see in the game. You can go in the arcade, buy drinks from vending machine, and even go shopping in the stores. Everything is realistic. Magic weather lets you play a part of the game while it's snowing, but when you play the game a second time (which you propably will!) it may be sunny at exactly the same scene. This game has it all. Elements of roleplaying, action, adventure, and arcade. I highly reccommend this game to anybody!

before i write my review i whant to get this straight shenmue is one of the greatest adventure/RPG's there are.First of all the graphics are crystal clear the plot and the fighting scenes are excellent and besides maybe not being enough fight scenes at points in the game this game is great.What else can you ask for i mean with know bad parts in the game this game is one of the dreamcast greats.

Heh, if you don't have this game yet, buy it. It's fun, you know that, and when the sequel comes out on Xbox wouldn't it be nice to know what you're doing in Hong Kong instead of Japan? Living the life of a Japanese teenager in the eighties might not sound super exciting, or even semi-exciting, but you're not exactly a ronin cramming for enterance exams here. You practice in the dojo, collect information on Chinese cartels and play old acrade games! And drink coffe in a can! And feed a kitty! (Check out the Penny Arcade archives, that comic's a good explantion of the game.) Come on, even being a fork-lift operator is fun! It's not like you have to do it from nine to five like you'd have to in real life.

You know you want it, it's (relatively) (inexpensive) now, so make yourself happy and get it.

If you own a Dreamcast do not miss this game. It is primarily an exploration game, with some minigames and CLASSIC ARCADE GAMES playable within the game. You walk up to an arcade game as Ryu, the character you control in the story, and put in money that you have earned. It is very immersive, has spectacular graphics and a great story.

Honestly, I couldn't play this game after about 5 days. There was just too much running around, waiting, running around some more, waiting, then finally getting to talk to someone. I do that in real life and it's much more fun. Now, the graphics were outstanding and the voice acting was very good...but I wish they would have spent more time on the game itself. It just didn't have that something special that most other rpg's have.

shenmue is a great story about a teenager out to get his father's killer to get his revenge. theres plenty of street fights and awesome moves. the game can be slow and frustrating in some spots, but thats how RPGs are. graphics are ok, could be better, but thats probably the best the Dreamcast can produce....since we are so used to better graphics. BUY THIS GAME, YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Shenmue is truly a masterpiece, for the many days I spent playing this game I was emerged into the story, the environments, the thoughts, the dramas, of Ryo's life in Yokusuka. Among the other games I played, only the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time comes on par, and to those who played that through and through know that's saying alot. Get a DC if you don't have one, this game is worth it, and to those who have a DC already you're missing out on possibly the best SEGA release (or any release by the way). You won't think twice about playing the sequel after this.

It's a different kind of game in many ways. Worth the price of a dreamcast - this is why you got one in the first place - to play games as cool as this. Yeah there is a lot of walking around and it's fairly linear - but the story is quite good - the cinematics are inspiring and overall it will leave you wanting more.

when i played this game i felt like i was in the game, it was great. the graphics on the game were great, all the detail of the game were great, the story of the game pulled me in, and when shenmue two was released i was amazed with the game. they boosted the characters to 1,000 on shenmue two and shenmue three is coming out very soon and with ala the rumors that has been going around the game is going to be great. ryo is back in shenmue still looking for lan di and he travels to the usa and ryo and ren become good friends from what i heard so i'm waiting for shenmue three i heard its going to come out sometime in 04 so get one but don't buy to many i want one too you know!
