Shenmue was addictive from the start. It's almost like pizza except better. It deserves five stars, it seems like you're actually living a life in the game. It's entirely flawless and action packed. Buy it.

Graphics = 10
Sounds = 10
Fun Factor and Replay Value = 10

This game is truely THE BEST yet for Dreamcast!

There is no way to explain how good this game is. Three disks of exellent game play in a totally cool 3-D world. This is the ULTIMATE Dreamcast game! It's so lifelike it's hard to beleive! My sister bought this game used about a month and a half ago and I haven't stoped playing yet. I also still haven't beat the game. It's a little hard to find your way around and know where to go but that just makes it more challenging which is better.I can't think of one bad comment for this 3-D Adventere, real life fighting game. It's so action packed! I would buy it again if I had the money. I recommend this game one trillion percent! And I can't get any more Sincere that that!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a world where video game plots are one-sided and two-dementional, Shenmue proved that not all games are the same. With a compelling story of vengence, love, and adventure, Shenmue tops all other games of it's class and towers greatly over what people have come to know as "RPG" standards. With a beautiful soundtrack and even greater sound quality, it is both eye and ear-candy for every gamer. Using the "Teen-rating" to it's fullest, Shenmue break the mold of RPG games proving that we cannot live in a G-Rated world. In short, Shenmue is a game that all gamers, youngh and old will enjoy. I recomend buying this epic game. Who knows, maybe you'll learn more about yourself aswell.

the only reason I gave it 5 stars is because 57 stars wasn't an option. read the following carefully as it will summarize the game as best as words can.... BEST GAME EVER. the graphics are the best I've ever seen. (like CG the whole time.) the story is great, the battle system is the best, and the musical score....drool with a capital D :). the people who gave it one star must not have played enough to get into it ... this game is like playing a bruse lee movie plus story line and beter graphics!:) in general ... BUY IT NOW!! if you have it be proud and go play it again!!!!!!! oh, and if your worried about it getting boring after 1 play.... ha , the first time you play, you miss atleast 75 things. NOW THATS REPLAY VALUE!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok first off VERY VERY VERY good game I LOVED it only 1 prob. I played it over christmas vac. for approx. 8 hours a day and beat it in 1 week but other then that BUY IT!!!!!!!

A game that redefines realism in video games. Shenmue features a reproduction of a living, breathing Japanese town and warehouse district with real townspeople and a realistic clock system. You take the role of Ryo and essentially live his life. You must set out to do errands, tasks, work a job and go to sleep all according to the clock. You can elect to spend your time any way you wish! Spend the day shopping or playing games at the arcade? Rainy day? Stay inside and play the Sega Saturn or train in your dojo? The choice is yours!

Think of this as Virtua Fighter in a real-life RPG setting. A big part of the game (though not entirely necessary) revolves around learning and discovering new moves and practicing until your proficiency improves. The main task involves you finding out who killed your father and you'll do some unique things and meet some interesting people as you search for the answer.

There's so much to see and do in Shenmue, I've yet to see any game like it! This is by far my favorite DC game...some may knock it for the fact that the game operates on a slow pace (stores open and close at certain times, etc) and the fact that there's little action. They may be right in some respects, but that's the appeal of the game. The fighting is minimal as are the QTE events, but the game, like most RPG's is slower paced to allow you to enjoy the story. I find the frequency of fights to be perfect...you'll begin to get a sense how and why they occur and its great fun when you're heavily outnumbered to unleash those moves you've spent hours training!

Should you buy it? Let's just say that a major reason why I purchased an XBOX on launch day is to play the XBOX-enhanced port of SHENMUE II! Play it and take your time, you'll enjoy it!

This game is amazing. u can do anything. at the beggining u learn his moves and u learn everything u need to know about his life then bamb the party gets started. U fight bad guys, gangs, and u help friends when there getting beat up, this is the most advanced game i have ever seen in my life. If u by it then your in for alot of action fighting and realistic graphics. I am 15 and this game is the best.

To put this simply, Buy now. Its not that I'm too lazy or whatever to write a full review... its just this is such a great game, you shouldn't waste your time reading a long rambling review. The graphics are great, the music is great and the arcades...OUTSTANDING!(You'll see what I mean) Overall, this can't be ignored and is worth owning a dreamcast for this game alone.

Hi. Shenmue is the best game I have EVER Played! The game has outstanding graphics, sound, and has a very in-depth story line. There is only one set back of all its beuty and wonder. It becomes confusing. My suggestion is that you get some kind of guide because it is still just as fun. Some people might complain that there isn't enough action, but forget them it is the best Fighting/RPG or any type of genre ever. If you haven't bought this game start saving up SOON.

This is the game that everyone who had a Dreamcast in November 2000 was anticipating. This is a great game. You might think I will wait to get Shenmue 2 when it comes out, but, NO. You must play this one before you play 2. It is a well known fact. In this game a guy, I won't say the name he kills your father. You must go after him to avenge your father while getting a bunch of information, and having to get away from all the gangs using martial arts. This is deffinetly a must have game for the Dreamcast.
