I'd pay 80 bucks for this game if I had to.

-This is the best game i have ever played in my entire life. Almost everything about it is good. I won't tell you it's ups because there are too many. It's few downs are that you cant pause the game and save during a QuickTime event or a video clip; you cant eat the food you buy, so therefore there's no point in buying chocolate; the voices for the characters are some of the worst ive ever heard...theyre so fake and stupid; the names are practically impossible to learn and pronounce; and you cant go back to the game once youve beaten it to find extra stuff and buy extra moves (no, you don't buy moves.you CAN buy a few if you want, but you DONT HAVE TO). -Okay, okay, i'll tell you some of its ups. if you get its sequal you can use the saved information on the first shenmue with it. it has an on going story that would be great for an AMERICAN movie. theres already a JAPENESE movie. it has awesome graphics and only a few glitches. you begin to feel like youre really there and that you are ryo hazuki.

One thing I gotta say is this game is top notch. This game makes an embarrasment to those other RPing games. Here u don't just get rping and fight scenes, no way. Besides that this game has where u can live the past with old video games like Space Harrier and other fun games, u could gamble at a casino, shoot pool, chill with friends, ride a motorcycle, fight a gang of thugs, work a job and hoping u won't get fired, and plus there is a little dash of romance in it, plus listen to music, win prizes from vending machines, play Sega Saturn Games, and watch the town Dobuita come alive for the holidays. Experience Snow, Rain, and sunshine. There is just so much to do in 3 CDs. So pick up Shenmue and experience a video game like u have never experience a video game before. So get Shenmue.

This is the greatest game ever. It is a lot of fun to play and it has a good story. My favorite parts of the game are the free battles and the games you can play in the arcade. It is not the funnest game to watch but when you play it the game is a 100 times better. The great thing is they're coming out with sequels which will be 3 times better. If you haven't played this game you don't know what fun you're missing.

The game has fantastic graphics,perhaps the best graphics on Dreamcast to date.But the gameplay leaves something to be desired.Although the fighting sequences are really good,the game gets boring sometimes.Ryo(the character) asking all people the same question,"did you see a black car that day?" feels a little boring.So this is not an addictive game .Overtall Sega has done quite well but the "somewhat boring gameplay" takes a lot away from what would have been a classic game.

This game should never be considered less than my title. It has a plot like no other game. It has a wide expansive world like no other game. It has great fights and it has QTE (Quick time events) where a button shows up on the screen and you have to press it in time to beat the situation. The game is great all around. Even to the very small toy machine. I only have a few problems with it. Like the steering on the forklift when you race and the steering on the motorcycle. Plus the ending isn't great. But it doesn't matter because there will be a lot more games being made for Shenmue. As long as they keep making the best games ever I'll keep buying the best games ever.

Everybody take my advice.This game rocks.It has everything.Awesome graphics,the music is great including the characters voices.This game is like a dream come true.It looks so damn real.The characters;especially Ryo Hazuki;interacts with everything that surround them.Is like in the real life.If you don't had this game RUN AND BUY IT! IS GETTING LATE!

Shenmue is a great game that Teens everywere can play! It goes from action sequences to where you can explore the world yourself. It rains and snows. And has a long expansion time. Although sometimes the game can be slow and a little dull, they always end up in fighting, or learning a new move. I finished the game in at least 2 months in Shenmue time ( which is December, 1986 ) but it can go all the way to April. The only cons about this game is that Ryo ( the man you play ) doesn't do much with a girl that he is supposed to like ( her name is Nozomi ). And they leave you hanging when you finish the game. Which really leaves you anticipating Shenmue 2!!

I loved the game. the graphics and sounds were awersome!
it got annoying while askin' around for info,but the free battles were really kewl (especially the 70 person battle!!)
the only thing that got me mad was that it ended so sudden.
You don't get to see the finish.I wouldn't get this game unless you plan on gettin' Shenmue II.
Thats why I gave it a Four.

if u dont have this game then your missin out!!! this is the biggest and best game that has ever come out of sega i've been there sence sega genesis and let me tell you they come a long way. but enough about that shenmue is an RPG/freestyle type game where you take over the life of ryo hazuki after his father is murdered you vow to find and kill the murderer. you roam around town asking questions and investigating around. i think that this game is a must have and other than load time theres nothing wrong with it what-so-ever!
