Wii Love It!!

Well, we certainly don't watch as much TV as we used to. My husband and I are really enjoying the Wii in general, and particularly the Wii Fit. We keep unlocking more games, and that really encourages me to keep trying more stuff. For example, I'm not much into yoga, but if I DO more yoga, I get more strength, aerobic and balance games unlocked! So I do it.
I guess we've had it for about 3 weeks, and now we are competing with each other to see who can be number 1 in slalom or bowling. It's a lot of fun even when we have company, we end up playing.
I highly recommend it.

This is a great game and it definitely gets you hooked on losing weight...BUT..there is something important not noted...
The Board HAS to be on a surface that is hard, such as wood or concrete, to get accurate results!!!!
My family first used this on our carpet, which isn't deep carpet at all, and yet the wii fit was off on our weights by 5-10 pounds!
When we put a piece on wood under it then it measured our weights perfectly.
On the game itself, it's great and really entertaining, but I won't go too in depth, just read some other reviews for that.
Excellent Game!!!!!!

This game is absolutely amazing!!! There are 4 different types of training:Strength, Balance, Aerobics, and Yoga. You can track your weight and BMI using the balance board. It keeps up with your weight loss goals too! Nearly all of the exercises seem more like games than exercise, after nearly 2 hours of playing this morning I feel like I've done more than I ever had at the gym. Try the Hula Hoop game or the tight rope walk, they are my favorite so far. This product is worth its weight in gold so don't worry if you can't get one at list price. Its worth the $[...]-$[...] sellers are asking for.
This thing is the bomb!

I'm so impressed! I'm already an avid gym goer, but sometimes I just can't get into the groove of wanting to go to the gym. I suffer from the same thing that so many people do ... I get bored really easily, and I'm highly annoyed by the music that most aerobics instructors choose to conduct step class to. Even though I have a personal trainer at the gym, 30 minutes 1 time a week is not enough weight training. Wii Fit is perfect to give me more of that kind of workout. I love it. I'm in my 20's and I'm overweight, but this combined with my WW - I'm well on my way down down down again!
Get you one son!!
Off the couch

I have a job where I sit all day. After a long day at work I really don't feel like going to the gym and busting myself for any more amount of time. Call it laziness, because I'm sure that's what it is. I'll admit it. I'm lazy. I don't like gyms. I don't like long hikes and bicycle rides in the muggy hot sun during the dog days of summer.
So here's the reason I gave Wii Fit four stars. Do I trust it to be a substitute for an actual gym? No. Do I think a programmed CGI instructor knows more than a flesh and blood trainer? No. Do I trust a computer to accurately tell me my BMI by simply taking my weight? No,
But one thing Wii Fit has managed to do is get me off the couch and doing *something* that approaches the qualifications of being healthy for me. This is the first day I've owned it and I've already done more excercising in this one day than I've done in...well...way too long. It's fun. I've learned something new. I never thought I'd be doing Yoga. But here I am doing yoga.
You can spend 10 minutes excercising. You could spend an hour excercising (much more than that may be pushing it). You can do what you want for as long as you want.
It may not be a gym. It may not be a bike ride or jogging around the neighborhood. But it is fun and if that's what it takes to get you off the couch, then maybe you should take a look at it.
Weight Limit for Balance board

My husband and I got the Wii Fit to help us get into shape. I thought it was great. It makes working out fun. My husband on the other hand cannot use it since he is to heavy. The game resets itself when he steps on the board after telling him he is to heavy. The max weight for the board is 330 lbs. My husband weighs 345 (looking back, I did not see this limitation on any off the information on this product). He does need to loose some weight but he is also naturally a big guy. I contacted nintendo about this. I asked if they were going to come out with a different board for those above the current weight limit and was given an empty answer. I do enjoy the game but beware if you are 330 lbs or more.

I just got the Wii Fit yesterday, one day before the release day. Go Amazon! It is definitely a great add on for your Wii. I am a thirty-something mom, so I wasn't looking for a video game, so my expectations for the visuals probably weren't as high as other people's. I agree with the other reviewers who said that they should have some kind of program available instead of picking and choosing. Overall, I think it is going to be a great addition to our Wii collection. I have already found out that due to a knee injury, my posture and weight distribution are off. I would have paid some medical professional $100 to tell me that!
Now for the bad, and the reason I am even chiming in to review. I am a little overweight, a size 14 women's. When I did my body analysis, the Wii said I was obese and made my Mii get fatter. And she looked all upset. I guess that is intended to motivate me, but I think that could really upset someone. Also, some of the comments after the games are a little rude..."Couch Potato"..."Can you walk without tripping?", etc. So keep in mind that WiiFit is not all sunshine and light!
Also, I do worry that the system is not set up for kids. My nine year old did the Body Analysis last night, and the system told him that he was on the high end of normal. This is a kid who wears slim pants and is skinnier than most of the boys in his class. My fear is that kids, especially preteen girls, are going to get told that they are overweight when they really are not. The potential for these girls to start dieting when they don't need to is just too great. I wish Nintendo would not include the BMI calculations or WiiFit age for people who are under 18. They get the birthdate info anyway, so I imagine that wouldn't be a hard bit of programming to change.
Other than those criticisms, I am excited about using my Wii Fit more. It really does make exercising more fun, which is definitely worth the money!
WII Fit addresses movement intelligence

As we age we tend to lose a lot of our ability to move. With the loss of this function we tend to become frail and our health starts to decline. This loss of skill impacts what is referred to as "movement intelligence" or our bodies ability to make intelligent decisions about the next move we make.
I think the Sony engineers looked directly at this problem and designed the WII Fit not to be just fitness device but also designed in such important elements such as balance and flexibility. These are critical factors in aging.
WII Fit is revolutionary in a quiet way. It addresses several serious aging problems. The most important aging loss is the loss of communication between body parts. The result of this loss can be life threatening.
As an author of reflexology books I am always instructing people on how to reconnect with your feet. The brain stops talking to the feet and the feet stops talking to the brain. I think the WII Fit can help with that reconnection.
It is all about sharpening your reflexes. I think the Sony engineers focus on this.

Like any fitness device, the more you put in, the more you get out. Hence, "What You See Is What You Get." And what you see on the screen is a personal male or female trainer that puts you through your paces. After you input personal data and it figures out how fit (or not) you are, he or she offers 4 different types of exercise catagories and rewards you with stars and points for a job well done. It also opens additional games as incentives to do more. The sturdy standing board is easy to use and the only thing lacking is strength training with free weights, which you can do on your own. It sets up a customized fitness program for you to follow to meet your goals, such as weight loss or core strength. As a fun game/exercise tool, it's wonderful. Is it perfect, no, but what is? I go to a local gym, have a home system and do yoga. It's a nice, inexpensive supplement that allows in-home convenience. It's more work than fun, but that's what exercise is all about. Anyone looking for a quick fix to weighty issues should bypass the Wii and get a gym membership or personal trainer. But it's great for all ages that need to shape up and are genuinely interested in fitness. I applaud Nintendo for creating much more than a game station and hopefully young people will embrace this too. Perhaps the idea of fitness as a life-long goal can be achieved. People, it's time to get on board! Nuff said.
Overall Pretty Incredible.... Fitness and Entertainment at the same time!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this but have to say it has lived up to my expectations. If you think this will work you out as hard as a personal trainer - it will not. But I would say that for couch potatoes or those wanting to keep a bit active on days off from the gym this does the job. I also think that for those over 60 it is an incredible tool - without a doubt it will keep seniors active and having fun. I would add that having it work as a scale and weight/BMI monitor and being able to set goals makes it even more worthwhile. My two favs are the yoga - talks you thru each pose and monitors your center of balance and the most funb is the balance section. This is def worth the price and I think almost any family would benefit from it.
