I own the Wii Fit since last week. I'm 32, 1.76m, ~82-84kg (fluctuates) and with my wedding coming up in a few months I wanted to lose some weight. I work all day and have little time in the evenings so the preparation and driving to and from the gym was too much. I wanted to use that 30-40 min to exercise, not prepare for exercise. I own a Wii since Xmas and decided to try this out after reading various reviews on the internet. Is this as good as going to the gym? No it does not replicate a gym. Will it get the job done? Will it keep you fit and help you lose weight? YES YES YES! I love it and highly recommend it. I get a great work out in 45 min. I feel great about myself, and have already lost a kilo. (note I have not changed my diet). Notice I get my work out in as much time as it takes to commute and prepare for gym. I also have more fun than going to the gym on my own. Perhaps going to a gym with a friend would be more fun. Depends. Anyway I love the Wii Fit! Note it takes a few times to get used to it and figure out how best to use it. Why? Well there is no prepared program for you. You have to decide on your own what you want to do and in what sequence. I start off by doing the aerobics (jogging, holla hoop) and then vary. Basically, the Wii Fit breaks its exercises into Muscle, Balance, Aerobics, and Yoga. I mainly doing the Aerobics and mix in some muscle and yoga. The muscle and yoga can be really tough. You wouldn't believe how much. You can really feel the muscles working. I do the balance exercises when I'm tired and want to relax a bit in between exercises. They may help with balance but are more of a game than anything else. The more you exercise, new exercises open up. In other words, you start of with a limited about of stuff to do and slowly you get more and more. Don't listen to the few negative reviews you may read on the internet. They were probably biased against the product before even trying it. This product costs a little more than going to the gym for a month (at least in my country). By the time I unlock all the exercises, I will have exercised more than a 1-month gym subscription, burnt more calories, and will have a fun game left too! Compared to nothing after a month at a gym. I highly recommend this. As I explained, you are getting more than your money's worth, having fun, and getting fit.
Shortly after making this, this man got Wii Fit! Hooray for Wii Fit! Me fit. You fit? Get Wii Fit!!!!

When Nintendo came out with the Wii a few years ago, it gave gamers a whole new appreciation in the way we actually play video games. With games like Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, gamers of all ages have shown a great interest in the new ways we play video games. But, Nintendo has taken that motion gameplay worldwide with a whole new level with Wii Fit. Unveiled at E3 in 2007, it really showed a new method of the way we can use our bodies to flex and stretch in new shapes and forms to balance ourselves into a better fit life, and a whole number of great activities that are really more than meets the eyes, and might.
Wii Fit for the Nintendo Wii is one of the most exciting titles to come out for the system this year. The gameplay is more about the motion and abaility to test you shape and movement of your body. You will work with a virtual trainer either male or female, who will help you guide your body to the better future you desire. There are activities that range well from simple aerobics and exercises like Yoga, push ups and Pilates, all the way to more aggessive activies like jogging in place through a run through the park. But, the minigames that you unlock along the way really bring out more of the challenge with the sensitive motion of the Wii balance board. The minigames range from line dancing step aerobics, all the way to balancing on a tightrope walk on a high wire, all the way to simple exercises like table tilt which is actually much easier to master by tilting your body to get the ball in the hole, without causing it to fall down.
As I found out, trying the Wii Balance Board out at the Nintendo World Store on May 8th in New York City, the balance board is very sensitive to all your movements, so its takes percise accuracy and timing to master through some of the activites in each of the games like the Ski Jump and the Downhill Ski course. If you move too fast, you might lose points whther blocking a soccer goal or balancing to the top. The graphics look great and appeal very well with the gameplay, as well as the music to the game which is simple and elequent to the gameplay. Sadly, there are a few disadvantages to the game. The first is that the Wii board is extremely sensitive, so much that you can't even have your shoes on when playing the games, and could damage the Wii Balance Board. A second disadvantage is that the battery life for the balance board takes so much energy, that you'd have to constantly recharge the battery in the balance board.
While Wii Fit does have a few errors, it is definitely proof that Nintendo really has made a whole new way on how we play video games. Wii Fit is very challenging for all gamers young and old and works pretty good addition to your Wii video game library. While I honestly wish the game could've cost a little bit less, the game it really worth the weight.

Addictive. Hard. Rewarding. Fun. Tiring. Frustrating. Amazing.
Too many adjectives, I know, but Wii Fit is all of those things.
I was impressed when we bought a Wii for our daughter last Christmas. Now I'm thrilled. Finally, a video "game" that seems tailor made for me! I've only had my copy of Wii Fit for a few days now, but already I can tell that if any piece of home equipment is ever going to help me get back in shape, this is it. Setting it up is hardly tougher than slipping in a DVD, and, unlike the Total Gym I once had, it makes you feel young just using it.
The first thing you do is weigh yourself by standing on the included wireless "Balance Board." After that, everything seems more like a game than a workout, but after 30 minutes with this thing I was sweating just as much as I do at the gym. There are four types of exercises: aerobics, balance, strength training, and yoga. Lasting from a minute to 10 minutes each, specific virtual activities include boxing, hula-hooping, jogging, push-ups, some very fun snowboarding action and this funky tilting game where you push balls into virtual holes.
Back to that balance board. You'll hate what it tells you about yourself, but love that it told you. Besides your weight, you learn your Wii Fit Age, a figure that combines your weight, body mass index and sense of balance. As you exercise, the program tracks your progress, or lack of it.
My only two complaints: the voice that speaks to you is little-kid cute, and there are no pre-set workouts.
If you're like me, you buy a lot of video games for your kids. If you can find it, buy this one for yourself. I got mine at list price, but I'd say it's worth about $150.
Wii Fit ... Another great addition to your wii collection!

I pre-ordered Wii Fit in April and was so excited to receive this innovative game. The game shipped on May 19th and arrived on May 20th, a day earlier than the release date. So for that, I thank you Amazon.
Back to the game, it is really easy to set up and begin playing the game. You start off by syncing the balance board with your console. It's a matter of pushing two buttons, so very simple. Then you begin the process of creating your profile in the Wii Fit profile. The board is really sensitive and hopefully very accurate scale. I did notice that there was a discrepancy between our scale at home and the Wii balance board. So I am wondering if the balance board is calibrated perfectly. But I'm inclined to hope that Nintendo really spent the time to calibrate the scale correctly.
I am impressed at the cleanliness of the graphics. They are by no means, gorgeous HD quality graphics but they are pleasant to look at. I find that the exercises are challenging. What I do wish is that you would be able to pair exercises together and make your own 30 minute workout session without having to go to the menu to select another exercise.
I had heard that in the Japanese version, the trainer is really harsh. Not so with the American version, the trainer actually gives you useful advice and kindly tells you that you need to practice more. I do promise that you will be sore the next day.
I was impressed by the skiing balance games, they are really a lot of fun. The ski jump is really fun. And my thighs got a heck of a workout. I do have to say that the on-screen instructions for the balance and aerobic games are not as detailed as I would have liked but you learn with practice.
Overall, this is a great addition to your fitness regime and your video game collection. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to tone up their core and improve their balance.
Must get!!! ~

Picked this up at the Nintendo World Store lastnight (early launch -- was already sold out, only available cause I pre-ordered a month ago). OMG it was so much fun!! Only had time to play with it for about 1/2 an hour but I did feel like it gave me some sort of work out during the short period. Great for days when I don't have time or feel up for the gym. Not as easy as it looks to get a good score haha. LOVE IT! :)
Not as good as a gym, but still a good substitute

I just recently received my Wii Fit and I have to say that I'm generally impressed. First of all, the exercises presented work well. If done properly without any cheating you will definitely raise your heart rate and will probably "feel the burn."
The Good:
==> It functions as a very accurate scale, although I noticed that if it is placed on a thick, spongy carpet it registers my weight about 10-20 lbs lighter than I actually am.
==> Exercises are well explained by the onscreen trainer.
==> Challenging exercises... some of these are really hard, especially at first. But they are hard in a good way.
==> Fun little balance based mini games. I especially enjoy the Ski Slalom and the Marble Tilt games.
==> Built in progress tracking system.
==> Menus are very easy to navigate.
==> Doesn't cost $50+ per month like my gym membership does.
The Not So Good:
==> It doesn't have a "Workout Program" that links your exercises together. You must interrupt your flow by selecting new exercises in between each set.
==> Weight limit of 330 lbs. If you are really heavy, regardless of your fitness level, this "game" is not for you.
==> Uses BMI (Body Mass Index) to evaluate your fitness. BMI is generally a great indicator of healthy weight except that people with large amounts of muscle mass can be mislabeled as obese, regardless of whether or not you can bench-press a truck and run a marathon before breakfast. BMI is also not very accurate for a lot of children.
==> Wii board width. I wish they would have made it a little wider. I'm a moderately built guy and I found the push-up positions to be awkward. The balance board doesn't really allow for much flexibility in how wide you can place your arms. I imagine that people with much broader shoulders will find this uncomfortable.
==> Minimalist graphics.
==> Bland music.
Overall, I highly recommend this product as a supplement to your regular exercise routine, especially for days when you can't make it into the gym. As a stand alone workout regimen it is fairly limited but effective.
Great idea for those who don't like the gym.

First off, I don't like going to the gym. The sweaty used machines, the gym rats giving normal people their looks of pity, I can do without.
After playing Wii Fit for just an hour, I am sweating as much as I would be at a gym. A gym is $80 a month. Wii Fit is $100 once. Hmm, what a hard decision!
The balance board is a great idea, but I'm not sure how accurate it is with the weight thing. Wii Fit doesn't know the difference between muscle and fat. So if you're 6'3 215 with decent muscle tone, it'll call you overweight, and tell you that you need to lose 30 pounds. Don't take this information to heart. Shoot for losing SOME weight, any number, and don't worry about what it says you should lose. Any off is good.
The presentation itself is cute. I like the little "whoa" the balance board gives when you get on. Nice little joke, there.
I don't like that you have to work to unlock features. Then again, if all features were available to me, I probably wouldn't use ones I didn't like more than once. So, I guess that's the reason.
I don't see a person getting "buff" with this system. It is not meant for weight training, or building muscle mass. However, it is excellent cardio, and the yoga/balance exercises are neat too. Considering how many of us really need to get up off the couch (like me) it is an amazing system to start some sort of fitness regimen with.
Great first step toward fitness

Wii Fit is the next logical step after people across the country developed weight loss plans around playing tennis, boxing and bowling on Wii Sports. This "game" borrows the exercise/conditioning elements of Wii Sports and builds them into a full exercise program. Although none of the 40 exercises in Wii Fit offer the enjoyment of playing tennis against a friend, the plethora of options in this package breaks the monotony of people who tried playing tennis alone everyday for 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of boxing, etc.
The groundbreaking technology behind Wii Fit is the balance board. It accurately measures every subtle movement and momentum nuance as you step and shift. It independently analyzes the input from your left and right foot, compiling the data to tell you if you are performing the activities correctly. You overall health score is determined not just by how much you weigh, but by how quick, balanced and precise you are able to move.
The second real jewel of Wii Fit is the daily check-in, where your weight, BMI and balance are all calculated and tracked. I believe the exercises with Wii Fit should be done in conjunction with more legit activities (jogging/walking, playing basketball, swimming, etc) for best results, but the check-in option rivals and betters anything you could gain by going to weekly visits to Weight Watchers or other exercise plan providers. Having your weight and fitness age on display each day is a great motivator.
Wii Fit isn't a perfect workout tool by any means. But it is a really innovative program that features a robust list of exercise "games" and creates an environment in which working out is less daunting. I also believe it will springboard people into more legit forms of exercise. If you really want to lose weight, starting out with Wii Fit is a great first step. Even as your fitness increases and the exercises contained become less challenging, you'll still continue to use the BMI calculator to track your progress. That alone is almost worth the price, but for most of us, reaching that stage would be months if not years away.
Fantastic....a great buy.

We received our Wii Fit last night, May 20th, and we had a Fit night. It is a lot of fun; even my 3 year old had a blast with it. When I got to work today, I had an e-mail from my wife, saying she stayed up till 3:00 playing it and beat a few of my high scores that I put up before I went to bed....so I'd have to say she is loving it as well. This is great for the whole family. From the Yoga - which I've never done in my life, to the strength training which I am feeling this morning - specifically in my legs, to the aerobics and games, it is a blast. I think it is worth it.
My only complaint is the whole BMI thing. It doesn't make since to me how it calculates BMI with height and weight. People are built differently - especially women and men. So to calculate it the same just doesn't make since. Most people talk about how skinny I am being 5'-8" - 160lbs, but those numbers mean that I am at the top of the normal spectrum, just below over weight. Yet if you saw me, being athletically built - my chest is much larger than my abs/stomach (muscle weighs for than fat) - but this is not considered in the BMI...so I'd take the BMI number scale it uses with a grain of salt. You know where you think you need to be physically and how you want to tone your body, so you can set goals with those personal goals in mind and determine if you want to consider the BMI or not.
Despite the whole BMI thing which really isn't that big of a deal - the game is fantastic and worth the buy. Nintendo hit another homerun with this addition to its already run-away success for the Wii.
