Priceless

I've always been a big fan of both video games, and fitness. When I first saw Nintendo unveil Wii Fit, I had some doubts. Having picked up and enjoyed this product for the past three days, I can tell you that it is well worth the money, and priceless to anyone with the motivation to use it.

Firstly, the statistical tracking. It seems so simple, but tracking your weight every day is a wonderful motivational factor to making healthy lifestyle choices every day, outside of Wii Fit.

Secondly, the range of activities provided, and feedback within are outstanding. This package will provide a wonderful routine for anyone interested in a beginner or intermediate level workout. Personally, I would recommend augmenting it with activities such as walking or jogging, but some people don't have this option, or prefer the comfort of their own home.

Thirdly, Don't listen to anyone who tells you this product will not give you results. This is complete bollocks, and is typically espoused by individuals who either haven't tried the product (and don't know what activities it uses or how it works), or people who haven't tried the product, and know nothing of fitness. Wii Fit will provide the tools and or the motivation to lose a healthy amount of weight, and would work wonders in toning muscle.

Lastly, I would like to point out that even someone who has an advanced fitness regimen can benefit from this product. Personally, I lift 2-3 times a week, run/sprint 2-3 times a week and play tennis for 1-2 hours nearly every day (training for high level tournaments, not social stuff)... And I'm digging this product. I've always wanted to track my weight, and the Yoga and Strength training excercises are an excellent way to stretch and warm up before a heavy workout, and are great for flexibility, balance, and working on the core/legs (very, very important for tennis).

I can't recommend this product enough. If you take the time and effort to use this product, you will see results.

My one issue: I wish Nintendo had created a way to craft a custom routine. Switching activities is a breeze through the menu system, but it would be nice to have it flow without intervention needed.

Oh, and all of this ignores the upcoming games that will utilize the balance board. EA is working on a skate title for the Wii that will use this, and one could imagine some unique and interesting games utilizing this board.

The incentive I needed to exercise

I just read a really sarcastic review about how to "cheat" the system. That's great if all you are worried about is getting a better score on the game. If, however, you actually want to use the WiiFit for its intended purpose, which is to have fun while doing exercise, you will want to ignore the sarcasm and do the exercises and play the games as instructed. So far, I love the WiiFit. It's like buying a lifetime gym membership. Even though you don't actually HAVE to do wide circles for your hula hoop exercises or run in place for the running exercises, I have found them to be a lot of fun and a decent workout for beginners. My fav aerobic exercise, so far, is the step dancing, sort of like Dance Dance Revolution. My daughter and I do a lot of the exercises together, one of us on the board, one off, then we switch. I really enjoy it and highly recommend it, especially to Moms like me without the time to go to the gym. The WiiFit is ready whenever you are. Ignore the sarcasm and have fun exercising and getting fit!

I pre-ordered this a while back and I'm so glad I did. It came a couple days after the release and we've been using it every day since. My youngest and oldest child are very active, but my middle child is a bit of a video game junkie and he's got the pudge to show it. This is the first time I've seen him excitedly exercise for hours at a time. And it's not just great for the kids. I love it too. I've been fighting with PCOS for a few years and those who have it know how hard it is to keep your weight down. I recommend Wii Fit to anyone who lives with the condition, or any adult who needs fun exercise for that matter. Lost 3 pounds already, and it's only been a week. I can see how the Wii Fit will make it fun and easy to get my exercise in daily.

Amazing product!

Wii Fit is one of the most amazing products I've ever come across. I've finally found something that holds my attention long enough to lose weight and really enjoy myself. The games within the game are tough but very effective. The price tag of the game may throw some people off, but trust me... 90 bucks is a small price to pay to ultimately become the healthier person you want to be. This game has motivated me to eat better and really make my outlook of life so much better.
It's an incredible workout took and you won't be sorry if you can get one.

Hate Exercise Love Wii Fit!

Wow! I HATE to exercise and my waist line shows it. I got the Wii Fit thinking maybe this could motivate me to get off my rear end and exercise. This doesn't even feel like exercise it is so much fun! My husband is also using it and he likes it, too. The cool thing is that we get to compete with each other -- it kind of gives a little extra motivation to do well on the exercises. I am deligted to say that we have both already lost weight using the Wii Fit. (We are also dieting.) It's nice to see our progress each day and to see the weight go down! I will warn you that it will definitely say if you're overweight or obese (like you don't know that already!). Overall, it is really fun to play... I mean exercise... no, I mean play!

If you have a Wii, you need a Wii Fit. My kids have stopped watching video and starting exercising. It is great fun for the entire family.

More than a game...not just for kids and gamers

The Wii Fit is a great addition to the Wii system, while it is not a substitute to get out and hitting the gym or doing some road miles, it is a fun way of getting into a home exercise routine. If you don't have a Yoga instructor handy, the Wii provides one for one, including some fun and tough poses. The four areas of training on the Fit, other than the Yoga are Strength, Aerobics and the Balance games. The strength training is cool, I generally never bothered with push-ups until now, that and other exercises you can include your own free-weights with are addictive with the Wii points and unlocking of reps and routines. The step aerobics are fun and more useful than the Fit's jogging in place while exploring the virtual island. But, the hula hoop with multiple hoops are a super workout. Finally, the Wii Fit's games to aid in balance are fun and sometimes pretty hard, rolling marbles into platform holes, tightrope walking, soccer heading and more unlockables.

The Fit evaluates your Body Mass Index, weight and balance, keeps track of your progress and more. One downside, is while aiding you in tracking wt. and such, if you are overweight (according to ht. and age norms) it will tell you where you need to be and the body shape of your Mii (or the character representing you) will be "subtlely" altered, but only in the opening BMI section, which you can skip. Also, the ladies (or gents) who want to keep their wt. a secret can put a password on their profile, too.

Down the line their are more Fit tie-ins on the way, using the board for skating and Rayman's Rabbid's are on the way with one, as well. I recommend the charger, while the board doesn't drink batteries like the remotes, it is still a good idea. As is the skin to protect your board and yoga mat to protect you.

Technological Marvel

I have basically exercised all my life to avoid chronic asthma attacks. I run, stationary bike, elliptical, and used to do a lot of martial arts. I've purchased exercise videos in store, on line and on infomercials. And in spite of my recently measured 75% lung capacity (not good btw), I can still run a quarter mile in a minute, 2 miles in around 14 minutes and a 5k under 25 minutes.

So what does all this have to do with Wii Fit? Well, people like myself who are into exercise will always look at different ways to exercise and challenge ourselves. Tae Bo came out as an off shoot of martial arts. The step exercise came out as an off shot of aerobic class. And aerobic classes came off as an off shot of exercise warm ups. There seems to alwasy be something new on the exercise front. It simply boggles my mind that there is so much hate for Wii fit. So I say, pay no heed to the exercise Luddites.

When the Wii Fit first came out and I played around with it I thought that it would make a great supplement to any exercise regime. Now after unlocking all the exercises and looking at the whole package, I can now see that if done properly, Wii Fit can turn into a compete workout without any extra activities. Of coures I luv my morning runs and early evenings on the elliptical trainer but I can see someone getting into fantastic shape with the Wii fit alone.

So what does it have? As mentioned in the many customer and critical reviews it has four basic section Yoga, Strength, Aerobic, and Balance games. Clearly with only the Wii and a Balance board, the aerobic section will have to be the weakest, still I think doing the basic hula hoop, 4 or 5 times in a row would amount to the same as a nice short run. And add some step and boxing to the mix and you can get the heart pumping pretty good.

The Strength and Yoga sections on the Wii fit are superior and worth the cost of the program. After three weeks my abs started firming up (not that I got a six pack yet - but for the first time in my life I think it is a real possibility) and after one month I have lost 7 pounds. To many, 7 pounds may not seem like an inspiring testimonial but with the charts, the feed back from the program and the virtual trainers you really do develop a sense of confidence. And I now find it easier for portion controls while I eat. No more 5 tacos just because they taste great.

And that is where the Wii Fit beats just about any fitness program out there unless of course you have a personal trainer. It's all about the feedback. With TV shows and videos it all about mimicking the images on the screen but with the Wii you actually get real feedback on the quality of your activities. Now I admit sometimes the feed back is questionable but considering you get none from video or solitary activities this is a huge advance.

The Wii Fit works. It will help increase your strength, give you better balance and more flexibility. Can these be done out side the Wii Fit? Of course, but this is NOT an either/or decision - Why not both? Check out the Nintendo channel on your Wii, they have a number of Wii fit videos if you want to find out more about the Wii fit. But until Nintendo (or someone else) comes out with an inexpensive sensor suit that hooks up to the Wii, Wii Fit is the latest technological marvel, that really will help you get into shape.

Love it!!!!

As somebody that hates to exercise this has been the first thing in my whole life that I look forward to do. It has been 10 days and I have been doing the exercises every day for at least 30 minutes each. Because it keeps track of how well I do on the aerobics it kicks my competitive side. I have lost 3 pounds in 10 days (on top of exercising I have been eating better and I'm only 27) I could not be happier that I bought this game. This is the first time I stick to a routine and I couldnt be more thankful.

Much better than an exercise video

I LOVE this exercise "game". I'm not one to join a fitness club (too expensive), use exercise videos (the same routine over and over) or go jogging (can be dangerous in the wrong area) so I decided to try the Wii Fit. I love that you can do the exercises you want and as many times as you want. I also like that you have to work at getting new exercises. I love the ski jump, the hula hoops and even the jogging. At least with the jogging on the Wii Fit, you don't have to worry about bad weather or areas and the scenery is enjoyable.
