A step in the right direction!

First of all, the game is not a replacement for all your exercise needs. It's a supplement/motivator. Secondly, it's not magic--it's exercise and it's not always enjoyable. Finally, and most importantly, it can really help you take a step in the right direction as you seek to live a healthier life!

Some people (like me) need a little bit of competition in pretty much anything they do. This game satisfies that need.

I also enjoy charting my progress. It's nice, and it helps keep me going as I work toward my goal.

The mini games will never win any gaming awards, but such a critique would be missing the point. And some of the games are actually pretty fun. I used to play soccer so I get a kick out of the "header" game.

This game is also a step in the right direction for Nintendo as it relates to the strength of the presently available libriary of software for the Wii. (Which unfortunately remains weak!)

Well worth the ivestment in the game, and certainly in yourself as well!

kids present to me

My kids bought me the wii and wii fit for my birthday this last may. Mind you all my kids are grown and have left home. They now spend more time at my house playing this with me than they did their last years of high school. It has brought us back together and we love the sharing and competition as well. I am not much into video games but this being something you can stand up and be active and do is remarkable. We love it and look forward to more games that will get us up off the couch and bring us together for fun.

I love Wii Fit! I teach and when I used to come home, I was so tired I did not want to "work out."

Now with this thing, I make the time and spend an hour and not even know it. It is fun and it does work. I have already lost some weight in just a week. I am five foot three and about 120 pounds, and I set a goal to lose 10 pounds. I am getting closer and I have never had so much fun working out (if you can call it that) in my life. There are so many choices and games too! You can pick Yoga, strengh training, balance games, or aerobic exerices. You also unlock more things as you progress. THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!

Not Effective Use of Exercise Time

I must say though the Wii fit is mildly entertaining, it was not what I has expected when I purchased it.
I thought I would be able to have a fitness class or some training at home. What the Wii fit offers is a demonstration of very short exercises you can choose to do. There is no 'class' or even substantial segment of fitness routines anywhere on Wii fit. You must INDIVIDUALLY select to do a single yoga pose or a single set of push-ups. After each one, lasting approximately 1-2 minutes, you must choose to "retry" or "quit". When you "quit", you return to a menu to select another individual exercise. There are several things in between each and every exercise you complete providing feedback and a score. Not bad information but terrible to stop constantly and push A and wait again for another menu choice. The menu will suggest doing 2 exercises in a row, but you cannot highlight or select that as an option and have 2 in row come on screen.

The graphing and progress reports are interesting and beneficial. The concept of the board being able to measure and assess balance is great. I just don't have the extra time to stop and wait between each movement. Going through the menus constantly is frustrating when I want to exercise. It takes about 55 minutes of time to accomplish 30 minutes of workout as logged by the Wii fit.

Wii-Fit Supplementary Activity

I recently bought the wii-fit thinking it was going to be a hard-core workout like Tae-Bo or something, not the case. It's slow with many pauses between exercise moves. I think its great for the sedentary child or family fun, but definitly not as your sole exercise routine. My advice is buy it for fun, to get the family moving behind the tv set, don't buy it if you want to lose weight, you'll just be disappointed and don't buy it if you are used to intense workouts, you'll only be disappointed. Bottom line- wii-fit is for entertainment, fun and can really get sedentary kids moving! and apart from my stars given, my kids would give 5!

Fun...even when you don't like exercise!

This is the best, by far, for keeping me entertained while exercising...it is fun and competitive for yourself and with others! Love the Fit Body Age and tests and privacy to keep that to yourself!

A great product

This really is a great product. We purchased this to try and get a little exercise (while having fun) during our busy schedules. It's fun, but remember, it's like any other piece of exercise equipment--if you just let it sit there, it's not doing any good! :)

Seriously though, it's a really convenient and fun way to sneak in a little exercise. I don't regret our purchase at all and I would not hesitate to recommend this item to others.

Good Suplemental Exerciser

I had preordered the Wii FIT before it came out and was so excited when it arrived and have used it weekly since. It actually is really fun. As you use Wii FIT more and more, you will also gain access to additional features.
My main complaint is how it uses data on the "age determination" stage. It has rated me as 23 in one week and then 54 the next week (I'm in my 30s). Obviously, not too accurate. Still, it works out muscles that I generally don't get to in my usual daily workout.

A LOT of fun, with a couple of areas for improvement

I LOVE my Wii Fit. I can't stand exercise - walking is boring, and I'm not willing to pay for a gym membership I know I won't use. For me, then, the Wii Fit is perfect. It's convenient and I actually enjoy it! There are some times when I think "I'll just hop on for 10 minutes, I don't feel like exercising" and before I know it I've done half an hour because I'm having too much fun to stop.

I love the fact that it keeps track of all your scores. If I do badly in an exercise, I'll almost always go back and try it again to try to get a high score. I guess it's strange to be competitive against yourself, but that's what I'm doing with it!

As other people have said, there are downsides to the game, too. The only one that really bothers me is the amount of clicks you have to make to complete a workout. I'd love to be able to put together various 10-minute exercise programs to get an effective workout without having to keep sorting through menus. It would be good, also, to be able to do (for example) an 'arm muscle workout' rather than having to go through the menus trying to remember which exercises are the best for certain areas.

Also, if you're super-fit already this won't really make much of a difference for you. For the people like me, who don't do much exercise at all and need a kick-start to tone up and get moving, it's perfect. Can't wait till I hit my weight loss goal!
