Wii are a fit fan.

I have found this to be a nice addition to our nightly activity. With both the wife and I work 4 11's to 4 13's, there is not alot of time for much exercise, especially having a two year old running arround wanting your attenion. One thing I really like is the fact that it brings you to reality when it talks about your BMI,Weight and age. I was told by the machine that with the BMI that i had, i was actually 11 years older then my true age. WOW reality check. We have been lazy over the years and we are going to give this a go. Nintendo was really thinking of Americans when they built this. It comes with a 330 lb weight limit and i am happy to say im well under that but its nice to know if you are near that range then you are ok up to 330. Although i have only had it for under a week, I find myself paying attenion to my center of balance. I can allready feel a difference in my knees and my dogs are not bark'n (feet are not hurting). Priced right, for what it is. If you want an expensive machine buy one. If you want an inexpensive machine buy the FIT. Lastly... The easiest thing about losing weight or exerciseing is getting OFF track. The hardest is to stay ON track and stick with a program. Allthough I dont think this was meant for people to lose weight, its a good start to long heathy disease free life that you really want. You owe it to your family and friends to be arround longer, not a ROUND longer. :) :)

Finally...an exercise program that keeps me motivated!

Even though I'm a health professional (and so should know better), after multiple attempts in 40 years I've never stuck with an exercise program longer than a week or two...until now. If you've had the same problem, seriously consider Wii Fit.

With other regimens, I could never detect enough significant improvement to keep me motivated over time. I couldn't even persuade myself to do 15 minutes of yoga a day. Wii Fit overcame this inertia by allowing me to see tiny incremental improvements, day by day. A higher score. A tad better balance. Then I started noticing I could do more reps...I wasn't breathing as hard...I was sleeping better...my weight was even creeping down (and I noticed, because Wii Fit measures down to tenths of a pound--most bathroom scales aren't capable of that sensitivity). My Wii Fit age dropped from 52 to 33 over 3 weeks. I got little improvements, little reinforcements, every day...and that's the best way to train any living animal, whether it's a lab rat, a dolphin or a person.

And, as mentioned, it's kind of fun. I don't avoid exercising now. I've averaged an hour a day for 3 weeks now, and it's not because I have a will of iron, let me tell you (the 3 week mark is important--studies have shown that's the length of time you need to internalize a daily habit; now it's much more likely I'll continue to stick with it). The variety of activities is nice; aerobics provide a nice warm-up, then yoga and strength, and I save some balance games for "dessert" once I finish the other exercises.

Of course, there are little flaws. The coaching phrases get pretty repetitive after 3 weeks (but this might be intentional--they may be trying to influence your subconscious, in which case simplicity and repetition are the keys..."You're doing great!" "Feel your spine stretching..." "You've got excellent balance!"). And how I wish we could do yoga in one of the pretty game settings from "Zelda: Twilight Princess", for a change. The ability to turn off the music (so you could play your own) would also be a nice feature. But for me, it accomplished my main desire handily: it helped me develop the exercise habit, as nothing had before.

It's not THE perfect exercise program--but the best exercise program is the one you actually DO. This one might actually provide the motivation you need to make exercise a regular part of your routine. And even if it doesn't, resale values are high, so you won't be out the money for long. If Amazon doesn't have it in stock for $90, make yourself another habit...and call your local game store every day before leaving work. It's likely you'll land one in a week or two, and you can begin your own experiment in the art of motivation. Good luck and good health!

Family ranges in ages from 16 girl, 18 yr girl, 22 year old son and my wife and me. First I know I'm overweight and the wii fit acknowledges that. Placing my 5'11" 230 lbs in the right BMI category. I'm 46 but my out of shapeness caused me to register as age 55. I sit at the PC all day due to the job.

I can't wait to get up in the morning. Instead of checking email I'm now exercising 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening.

The strength training is fairly tough for me now but I'm getting better.
I plan on sticking with the program and I'm striving to reach the goal I've set for myself.

The games are fun fun fun and even with the air conditioning on - I'm working up a sweat. The yoga and strength training are pretty tough which is a good thing. Tough but not impossible. I'm looking forward to the day when I think they're easy.

I was a little worried the game would tell me I was too heavy. But this is an excellent piece of hardware and handles my weight quite well with no ill affects. The box doesn't give a max weight.

If you have a wii - get this device. Even if you don't care for the exercise portion - watching someone psuedo hula hoop is a blast.

Not Too Hard and Not Too Easy; Just Right

For such a simple device--essentially four hyper-sensitive weight sensors on each corner of a board--Nintendo has come up with some amazing uses for it. When you first get started, you must create a profile for yourself through a Body Test, which you're encouraged to repeat daily. After that, set a weight goal for yourself and a time frame, and off you go. The good news is that it's easy to get started. For example, with Yoga, anyone can do the breathing exercises. But step forward a few slots and try the Tree, and you'll quickly find out just how good (or in my case, AWFUL) your balance is.

There are plenty of quirks, but most are minor. The biggest recommendation I can make is to MAKE SURE you have the extensions on the bottom if you're using the Wii Fit board on carpet. Otherwise, the weight sensors will be offset by the bottom of the board touching the carpet, and your weight will fluctuate wildly from one position to the next. (On my second day without the extensions, you could tell the program was trying to politely ask how in the world I gained 15 pounds from the previous day!)

Other than that, it's just a bunch of fun--a world of mini-exercises that keeps getting bigger the more time you devote to it. Some are hard work, some are laughably easy, and some are much tougher than they look. In any case, this is unquestionably one of the best Wii products out there. Nintendo should be applauded for putting this much creativity into a simple plastic board with four sensors.

As If I Couldn't Love My Wii More

What I like about the Wii in general is that it's a game that gets you (and family) off the couch and doing something. With Wii Fit, there's even more ways to get moving. After a brief balance and body assessment, you're ready to begin. Plus you get the chance to add your weight loss goals.

There are four areas:

Yoga - which I LOVED. The Wii instructor gives a demo first, and there are grids to know if you're getting off balance. I had absolutely no experience with Yoga before, and now I plan to do this in the morning and in the afternoon.

Aerobics - Step was my favorite. But there's also jogging and swinging a hula hoop. Step could be faster, but maybe I'll unlock that.

Strength - there were several exercises already unlocked, but I didn't work on any of these. Since I'm a bit out of shape, I wanted to work on aerobics and yoga first.

Balance - these I did when I was ready to cool down. Since balance is a major aspect of the program, these exercises seemed to be the most fun.

I think any child above the age of 9 could do these (especially balance exercises) easily, and really enjoy it. As someone who's been out of shape for the last couple of years, I recommend this product. I'm already looking forward to doing it again, and I think says more about the Wii Fit than anything else.

I am 56 years old. Last year I retired from federal service. I went from 180 lbs, to over 200 lbs in one year. Very little activity over the winter. Needless to say, I am pretty disgusted with myself. I tried exercising on my own. My wife and I try to walk an hour each evening, but sometimes this isn't possible. So I pre-ordered the wii fit from Amazon.(glad I did, you can't find one now). This product is amazing. I won't call it a game, because it isn't. It is more of a personal exercise trainer. Kids will probably get bored easily with this. (you don't shoot anyone)But for me, it is addicting. Each day you sign in, it weighs you and gives your fit age.You then choose from many differnt activities such as yoga, strength, aerobics or balance exercises. You can work out as long as you want, but I do at least 30 minutes, if not more each time. You compete against yourself to get a better score in each activity. And more activities unlock as you progress. Older people will love this because you work at your own pace, and some activities are hard, but most are easily done at any age. I love this "game".

Kicked my butt!!!!

This game kicked my butt. I am a 56 year old woman who goes to Curves so I thought, I may not be wonderfuly fit but at least I do exercise that Wii Fit would be a fairly light workout. I felt it in my legs when I went to Curves the next day. I was sore!!! I feel that adding Wii Fit to my daily workout will be a very good thing. This may not be for a true gym rat but for the rest of us couch potatoes, it is a great way to get more exercise. I appreciate that it records my weight daily if I choose. It tells you your BMI and allows you to set a goal weight. Also I don't have the greatest balance so exercising balance everyday should help. The exercises are fun also, especially the balance exercises which utilize games. The aerobic exercises are fun also. I love running amongst Miis that I have created. Though getting soccer balls thrown at you by your Miis is a bit disconcerting. :)

I think the yoga and strength exercises would be more interesting if Miis were in the gym also doing it. Both the yoga and strength exercises are very good and the "trainer" does a good job of explaining the exercise and pointing out the things you need to work on.

Some of the exercises take up to a body length from the balance board so if you have a set up in your house like I do with the TV then an easy chair close to it you may have to rearrange your furniture.

As you exercise you earn "points" which open up new exercises. I think this encourages you to earn more points. I hope that Nintindo has more exercises in the works to be uploaded or purchased.

A note about the availability of this game: I live in a small town and one of our local game stores got a shipment. Be patient, shop locally and I think you will be able to get this game at list price. The gaming stores are very interested in serving their core customer base. I think they will find this attracting a different customer base also. I think you will have more luck at smaller stores than Wal-Mart, Best Buy or Target. Try Game Crazy or Game Stop in your local area.

Who would have thought running in place could be so much fun!

Normally I'm not a fan of running in place, but this game actually makes it fun for several reasons! First of all you get to run along interesting paths with fun visuals following your trainer/guide who periodically turns away to wave you on with encouragement. In addition, as you run, you pass or are passed by other runners--many are the Miis you created for the Wii games. It's fun to see your friend's Mii or son's Mii running by. If you don't want them to pass you just have to speed up! There are even dogs running around. My son found if you pass the guide after the dog passes him/her you get to follow the dog for the rest of the run!

This is a great game. I've used it everyday for the past week and hopefully the novelty won't wear off before the pounds do!

I had high expectations - and Wii Fit beat them!

Wii Fit is set up to use both the balance board and the wiimote. Sometimes this is annoying because you have to either hold on to a wiimote to do physical things, put it in your pocket, or let it hang from the wrist strap and hope for the best.

Wii Fit offers both feedback in terms of your weight and BMI and your "fit age" similar to "brain age" in other games. You can have multiple profiles, but only one of you can play at a time.

Ok, I bought the Wii Fit because I wanted to get in shape. I was annoyed when I set up my profile and was weighed only to be told in a squeaky chipmunk voice, "That's obese!" Yeah, fitboard, I know. That's why I bought the thing, right?

Anyway, once I get past being told I'm obese and having that obesity depicted on my mii, (hey, it's honest) I actually enjoyed the workout. I liked being able to choose from short activities instead of being locked into a set workout. If I don't feel like a heavy workout, I can just do yoga or easier balance games. And I think this is the only game that has ever made jogging in place interesting in any way shape or form.

I also like that you can make a Wii Fit channel, so you can do some quick activities, even when someone else has a game in the system.

Wii Fit and kids - now this is interesting. I didn't expect this game to appeal to my six year old at all. I mean, she's six, what does she care about yoga? Wrong. She loves it. She spent three hours doing activities on it yesterday. No kidding. It actually told her to take a break every once in a while. She doesn't just do the balance games. She does yoga poses and strength training too. All these activities have voice narration and a trainer who goes through the steps with you, so it's possible for a child with low reading skills to follow along.

I can't claim fabulous weight loss... yet. I have lowered my "fit age" from 57 to 37 in a week, and that's not shabby. I own Yourself!Fitness and EyeToy Kinetic. This is the only exercise video game I've actually enjoyed playing.

This is the best workout I've had in a while. I'm not really into lifting weights or going to the gym so when I found out about this I got really excited. It is defenetly a workout! Within 20 minutes your working up a swet. Its so much fun though, especially when you open new levels. Its also great if you dont have much time, and motivates you to "play" it every day. It even notices if you miss a day and encourages you to do so. I highly recomend it.
