Great graphics, great fun, excellent control. This game is top notch in every way. Go Grab it. Third person action games are my favorite, and this is one of the best on PS2.

Just cool man. Dante is cool. I feel cool just playing this game. Guns and swords, devils and demons all with flawless action. Wow Devil May Cry, nearly made me cry after I finished it. I just wanted more and more of the sword fights with Nelo Angelo, or the battles with the Shadows! The action is unmatched. I love this game. It's just so cool. It's different from MGS:2, and GTA3. It's right in the middle actually. Between Strategy and mayhem. The game is cool.
You all need this, that is, if you want to be, you know....cool.

This game is so awesome! It gets 5 stars because of its unbelievable graphics and gameplay. The story is also very intresting and convincing. You can slash different kinds of demons with a variety of swords like an electric sword that you find. The coolest part is that you also have guns like pistols and you can preform combos using both of the weapons!Another cool thing you can do is buy special attacks using red orbs which you pick up.I definitely recommend this game so go out and buy it.

The PS2's Messiah has Arrived

The PS2 is a powerhouse. That's pretty clear at this point. Anyone who's seen Silent Hill 2, Twisted Metal Black or Onimusha can to attest to this. Then comes Devil May Cry. Oh, lordy, then it comes indeed. This is by far the most visually impressive game ever made for a console, bar none. It also has gone far to solve some of those nagging difficulties with the set-camera system. The camera is roaming (though not under player control), and any visual obstructions go transparent before they become a problem. Next, the control. Onimusha is probably the closest comparison to this game, in terms of gameplay. However, Onimusha has nothing on this. Dante can double-jump, fly, float in midair while firing his two revolvers (and you know that anyone who names their guns "Ebony" and "Ivory" has got to be the no-limit a$$ kicker). This is by far the most well-designed control scheme for an action game of this type ever made. Basically, where as Onimusha went more for detailed swordplay, DMC goes more for martial-arts movie wire fighting (think Iron Monkey, or Matrix even). Less realistic, but entertaining none the less. The storyline is more in depth than most straight action games (think, again, along the lines of Onimusha, with less dialogue). The environment can be altered to a limited degree, but not much more than in Onimusha (think breaking pots and the like). The game allows you to develop new abilities along the way in reward for killing enemies, and these abilities do, indeed, affect gameplay.

Now, buy the game. Now. NOW. It's just that groovy.

Great mindless, blood splattering fun...

This is one game that made me like my PS2 again considering past titles have been mediocre or titles I haven't been interested in. First, off it's an 3D action game where you must venture into a castle battling a demonic horde. You search for clues to complete stages and find hidden stages. You'll soon learn how to start juggling opponents in the air while blasting them with dual handguns or a shotgun. And you don't have to worry about ammo in this game so you can keep blasting all day and night if you want. I mus say, though, that on normal and hard difficulties this game isn't easy. It's reminiscent of the nintendo video games of old where your thumbs will start getting sore from continuous play cause it's not an easy game. It's gonna take some old school video game sckills to beat this one.

Great game all in all

I had 10 hrs to beat this, so I played 10 hrs straight.

This game is all about fast paced, free for all, combo action fighting. Rolling, jumping, shooting, slashing, flying, WHATEVER it takes. You are rated on your combos and how long they last, which if you can pull it off can be long and tons of fun to do and watch.

I'd suggest playing Easy Mode first, 1) because it is A LOT easier than normal, and 2)it's just more fun to pull off impossible combos

A little too short with bad voice acting and dialouge are the only negative aspects of this game.

Excellent Game... Needs more Content

I had played this game at Software Ect. and I knew I had to have it. One of the best gaming purchases I made all year. Graphics are excellent and the gameplay is stable and easy for all people. The story is excellent and the voice acting is actually above par except for a few spots. There is only one problem holding this game back from a full 5 stars... it is way too short! I beat the game in only about 4 hours on normal mode. The game consists of a set amount of missions and they tend to average about 8 minutes per mission going up to 22 missions. Replayability is decent though because there are different difficulty modes with some hidden stuff later on. All in all, if your looking for a quick fix with a good game, go with Devil May Cry. If your looking for a game that will take you hours upon hours to beat, you might want to look elsewhere.

Crazy, undead, shooter...best yet.

I thought House of the Dead was totally cool, this game is by far the latest and greatest as far as these undead shooters are concerned. If you don't buy it, at the least rent it. The other critic, handle "Patrick Walsh", is not a gamer, check out his critique on the movie "Crash". Stick to your movies, this site is for serious gamers.
