From the start, I did not expect too much from this game. I've always liked Super Smash Bros. games, but they've never been outstanding like the Halo or Star Wars: Battlefront series. But they're still my in my favorites. Brawl is clearly the best out of all three of them, thanks to the improved graphics and Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Overall there aren't many cons, only one really. The bad part is that it does not take full advantage of the Wii; it does not use the motion-sensing capability at all. The Nunchuck and Wiimote work like regular controllers where you press buttons. Just buttons; no moving your hand around. That was the only thing quite disappointing. Overall, good game!

Finally SSBB is here. When I first saw the trailer for this game @ E3, I knew I would have a Wii in the house this generation. So the question is; does it live up to the hype? Well yes and no. If you loved Melee, you will love Brawl. It has more characters, more levels and everything that made Melee the best selling game on the GCN. Personally, I prefer using the GCN controller over the wii-mote. Thats a nice option to have and it seems to work better.
Sadly, I do have a small problem with it. Nintendo's online service is horrendous. With an ethernet cord and even after I fiddle with my routers settings I get a lot of lag. I never have had this problem with my PS3, PSP, or DS. And, needless to say, friend codes are more hassle than they are worth. I also don't understand why this game was not released at launch or shortly thereafter. There is nothing on it that warrants the number of delays SSBB has had.
With that said, I have to recommend SSBB. Its a game made for you and a few friends to get together and have a good time. Just don't go online.
A must buy

Super Smash Bros., for those who don't know, is a fighting game featuring characters from numerous Nintendo video game series. Brawl is the newest addtion the the previously two-part series. It is quite similar to its predecesor, Melee, but it has been vastly improved, and has many more brand new characters. First off, the new adventure mode is a big improvment over that of the previous game. Taking a lot of hints from platformers gone before it in it's gameplay, Brawl's Subspace Emisary mode is actually fun to play. Brawl's multiplayer is still as strong as ever, featuring even more battle-customizing options than ever before. Brawl also now has Wi-Fi, so those of you with a router can battle both friends and random people over the internet. But you may want a fast connection... Also, the new mapmaker if fairly easy to use and provides even more hours of enjoyment to this game. As if it needed more. This game is a pinnacle of multiplayer awsomeness, being a centerpiece to any gaming event. And those of you who are parents thinking about getting this for your kids who aren't teens yet... Don't fear that T rating, I don't think this game is that bad. It's up to your judgment, if you think the violence is too much, I won't think the less of you. But bear in mind, this is Nintendo we're talking about. The makers of Mario and Zelda. I would recommend this game to anyone of any age. You hardcore types, don't underestimate this game as too childish, or too simple. This game is NOT just an overhyped sequel (however overhyped it may be). Don't let the hype or anything else stop anyone from playing this game.
This is why Nintendo is #1!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brawl is the honored successor to the Smash Bros. franchise that started a long time ago, in a living room far far away.
Its more in depth characters, colorful taunts, extended 1 person game play (see Subspace and Classic modes), stage builder, 2 new trophy categories (CDs and stickers) all add a much needed heavyweight to the Wii's lineup.
Buy this game, you will not regret it. I've owned a Wii since Day 1 in 2006. This is hands down the best game yet. Super Paper Mario and Wii Sports come close, but this is a whole new ballgame.
My only gripes, NOBODY is ever online to play. And when they are it seems any non-friends are a crazy lag time not associated with any other Wii games (Strikers). But if you have 1-2 friends out of town that have this, you wouldn't tell the difference when you play them online. So its a give and take there.
Smash on everyone!
Best Game Ever!!!!

If I had to buy a Wii game and I didn't have this game, I would choose this game. Challenging competition between Brawl and Melee have been reviewed but BRAWL IS BETTER! It is exactly the same as Melee accept more characters, more stages, newer additional features, this is why this game is a lot BETTER!
Rundown:
In Solo mode, you can play a number of different things. Classic mode is when you choose a character to fight the assigned enemies. Not that great. The new part added was the one to two player (co-op) side scroll adventure mode called Subspace Emissary. To unlock characters, go through the adventure and have them join your team. Solo mode also includes other events such as target smash, home run contest, and another brawl option.
Group mode consists of what you would normally use just to fight. Like a "free for all". New characters were added on such has Pit from Kid Icarus and Ike from Fire Emblem. New characters also include Lucas from Earth Bound, Pokemon Trainer from the pokemon games, Wario from many nintendo games, Zero Suit Samus (Samus without her power suit), Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Sonic from Sonic the Hedgehog, Lucario some random pokemon, R.O.B. from Subspace Emissary, Olimar from Pikmin, and others which I haven't unlocked yet. Another part of Group is Special Brawl when you customize a character with different items and fight using the items non stop. Kinda' pointless. Other selections are for adjusting settings, usable items, and rules.
Vault is where you store data such as photos, videos, make stages to battle on and play minutes of classic nintendo titles. Great to show videos and photos to your friends i.e. at your house or send them by Wii.
There is another selection at the main menu where you can rewatch adventure videos. I don't really use it.
Wi-Fi is great! It works great for friends especially because it shows how well your connection is with them. With friends- select friends to battle against. With anyone- battle with anyone who wants to battle. You can add them to your friends later. Spectators can get anoying. They place you in a skill category so fights are even. The only problem is that sometimes I like a challenge and sometimes I like to pound on losers that suck but its really your choice. Another nice thing is that while waiting to connect to a room or wait for people to join your room, you can beat up a sand bag as much as you want.
Overall Grading:
Graphics:A+
Gameplay:A
Controls:A+
Stages:A-
Music:A-
Overall:A

The Xbox has Halo for the best play multiplayer game. The Wii Has Super Smash bother Brawl as the best multiplayer game . Brawl is good single player mode. It has a story driven adventure which you could not be beaten in one day. Of course what make this game stand out is multiplayer mode. Also it the part that make the game a must have.
