Lives up to the hype...and more!

Perfect extension to Super Smash Bros: Melee. The "story" mode isn't going to win any awards, but hey it's a videogame! The single player is far more engaging than the previous versions. It took me about nine hours to beat the game on my first try (NORMAL difficulty). Even though it is Smash Bros, it still has that appeal to everyone from hardcore to casual.

The addition of several non-Nintendo characters (yes Sonic is in fact included) is eye-grabbing; their differing abilities make for a fun match. Has even more replay value than the previous versions, because there is more to unlock and more to customize. A level editor (though limited) is included.

If you liked SSB:M, you should like Brawl too.

Horrible, craptacular button mashing waste of time

This game is awful. I'm just thanking my lucky stars that I rented this "game" from the local Blockbuster. Here we go....

*It's all about how fast you can hit the "A" button
*Doesn't use any of the unique features of the Wii remote.

So if you have $49.99 + tax to waste on seeing how fast you can mash the "A" button on you Wii Classic Controller, go for it!!! Otherwise save your $$$.

A decent game, but nothing earth-shattering.

I honestly wasn't expecting much when I bought this (I've never played any previous Smash Bros. games), and I was right not to. The game is fun and will provide hours of play, but it's not the grand epic BRAWL you've been hearing about.

The good - Excellent music and excellent graphics (for a Wii game...the graphics are hardly next-gen, however, as evidenced by the grainy cutscenes). Seeing familiar characters is just fun. I found myself smiling when R.O.B. showed up on the screen. The gameplay is FAST, which is really good. The single-player "Subspace Emissary" is pretty neat since it gives you a chance to play ALL the characters as well as unlock new ones. It's classic 2D gameplay is nostalgic...I haven't played a game like this in years, and I'm not complaining! It's a bit linear, but this is hardly the point of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

The bad - The controls are simply not up to par. You have a variety of options (Wii Remote with or without nunchuck, GameCube controller or Wii Classic controller). This will let you pick which configuration works best for you, but no control scheme is any more responsive than the other. The characters simply do not control as fluidly as they should for a fighting game. For a console whose innovative controls is the main selling point, this is a disappointment. I hate not being able to use the remote's pointer during the menu screens, instead it's like using that annoying little button between the "G" and the "H" keys on your laptop! Very much an inexcusable flaw on the part of Nintendo.

If you're basing your purchase of a Wii console on this game, think again (although there are plenty of other better games on this console). It's fun, and the multiplayer is excellent, but it hardly lives up to the hype.

Want it badly! Looks way better than super smash bros melee. I saw the trailer at Gamespot, and I fell in love with it instantly. As soon as it's on video game shelves, it's mine! MINE!

I gave this game a 5 star because there is not a N/A choice. Enjoy the preview.

This is a preview. There will be at least 5 new characters.
-Pit-from Kid Icarus
-Snake- from the metal gear solid games
-Zero suit samus- just samus with no suit
-Metanight-Kirby Series
-Wario-mario's rival

It will not use the special features that the wiimote has. It will have controls like the gamecube. I think it will be better because who wants to move around a lot when trying to enjoy a game like this. So if you plan on buying this game don't throw away your GC controllers as they are compatible with the Wii.

If you are wondering when it will come out you will have to wait. This game will come out sometime in 2007. There has not been a date set for it come out yet as they are still working on it. The graphics will be superb and it will be another great Super Smash Bros. game. This game is well worth the wait.

Ok this game is totally incredible,the stages,the characters,the replay ability is just awesome,not perfect because of minor flaw but it will keep you busy for a while(1-5 years)

Melee vs Brawl

Compared to Melee, Brawl has...

1. nearly the same game play (disappointing if you are expecting a lot of new stuff, but on the plus side it is as good or better than Melee in every area) -- it feels like the exact same game with a few new characters, levels, and features
2. some new fun things to do in single-player: longer adventure mode, more prizes to win (and it gives metered hints on how to get those prizes which is fantastic)
3. 16:9 aspect ratio available
4. online play (buggy :(, but expecting Nintendo to improve it)

BTW, if you are a Melee fan, plan to use the GC controllers for any serious play.

It is like melee and SSB1, but this time has better graphics, about a dozen new characters, about 2 dozen new stages, a REALLY long and entertaining adventure mode, and, perhaps the best of all, the custom stage builder!!!
Anyone who gives this game a 4 star or lower will never give ANY other game a 5; very few games can compete with a game of this level.
