Not Built Enough For Speed

Since the Need For Speed franchise came into the video game world back in the mid 90's, there has arguably been no denying the success of trying to be the fast & the furious. Although it has shown its highs like Need For Speed III did with Hot Pursuit and its sequel Hot Pursuit 2, there also have been some versions with absolute lowpoints as well like Need For Speed Porsche Unlimited, and other smaller versions of the game too. Although the game remains a popular favorite, there have also been times where the need to be fast and furious can also be told in the shadows of the underground racing scene. That is said with this game.

Need For Speed Underground for the Playstation 2, is a game that does try to deliver into the need for being the fastest in the underworld. The game of course shows you as you try to work your way to the top by earning points to pimp up your look of your car, and the style as well from bumpers and spoilers, to faster engines and weight reductions. The game handles well in the graphics and the music as you go through several different races from sprints and circuits, to lap knockouts and the thrill of the drag racing scene too. Sadly, there are a lot of unfortunate disadvantages to this edition. One of them is the lack of courses. Even though they are all set in one big city, you will be battling the same courses more than once in each match of the game. Not only that, the controls are also a bit shallow too in some cars, where you might lose your grip and crash into an oncoming vehicle or train.

All in all, Need For Speed Underground isn't a bad game, but it just could've used some more variety. Instead, I really suggest you buy its sequel Need For Speed Underground 2, or Need For Speed: Most Wanted. There are much more thrills and challenges in those editions, that this one. This edition just misses the need for real speed.

Need For Speed Underground is an overall okay game. Here are some pros and cons to this "so called game":
Pros)1:The cars are realllllly nice. Very realistic and fast.
2:The body kits are nice especially the Wide Body Kits.
3:Grapics are very good.
Cons)1:Racing: Very difficult in Career mode especially race 81.
2:NO FREE ROAM!!!
3:CRASHING! Traffic cars appear right in front of you and you crash.
Overall i'll give it 4. Very frustrating. If you like difficulty, you'll like this game.(TOOK ME FOREVER TO BEAT)

NFSU is definitely a pioneer in starting a trend of new racing games... With the automotive market growing on customization, it is just natural that you can do it to your car in a video game... Upgrade parts for more hp, and add body kits and neons... NFS was taking a step in a different direction... have tons of fun playing this game and has the ability to connect to the internet to race against real people...

Characters Too Dark/Lights are Dark

Somehow, I like racing games and I was hoping that this game will go over the line. And it's okay with cars and designing your own cars and then racing against other cars. Although, the racing sometimes get boring because you're racing in different races. That part is cool, but I hate the people because they look scary and dark in the background. The arrows are dark enough that you can run into them. The 3 goes on both because the background is dark as if you can't see no one standing beside your car or they are ghosts, but can't see them.

Love those RX7s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not own a need for speed undergroud game myself but I barowd one from a friend.Igot half way though the game and it's owesome. You get to tune and do about any thing to the cars. You can earn cars, piant cars, tune cars, race cars, drift cars, drag cars, sprint cars, and some other things. The whole game is based on illegal street racing. The tracks are highly detaild the cars are very detaild the parts are very detaild. You can pick from all kinds of real car parts. You can pick real cars. The game is like a fast and the firios game! When you are racing there is traffic to dodge on city streets. You earn money for things good that you do.You earn 'Style Points'for good driving moves you do.It's like real driving you have to make quik desisions.I allready loved cars but this game made me appreciate the cars with the lowed exhaust tips. The graphics for this game are awesome.I don't wont to spoil everything for.If your're buying the game you'll love it.My name's Tyler Messick and I did!

Why buy this if you can buy Burnout 3?

The whole focus of this game is that you drive incredibly fast and customise cars. If anyone who is reading this doesn't know what Burnout 3 is, then let me give you the gist of it. The whole focus is that you drive about 10 -- no 100 -- times faster than this game, and you drive agressively. It doesn't have must customisation, but it's a hell of alot of fun. Raming apponents into walls and having them explode is much more fun than this game. This game decent at first, but then loses its charm. This game is slow compared to Burnout 3, has hideous music than will pierce through your eardrums like a butcher's knife, bad collisions, and is just not fun at all. Buy Burnout 3 if you want an excellent racing experience that you don't even need to like racing to enjoy and experience Burnout 3's goodness. Did I mention its only 20 bucks and there is a sequel coming out in a month called Burnout: Revenge?

Not the most realistic game out there but if you died every time you crashed what fun would racing games be? If you like the idea of modifying cars you'll love this game. You can totally customize your vehicle with a unique bodykit, engine tuneups and nitrus plus unusual decals. This game is all about having fun going fast and trying not to run into the ever annoying traffic. With crazy shortcuts on each track which often involve amazing jumps this is a game that will put a smile on your face.
