Best racing game of the holidays

I love racing games and I have to admit that this is one of the best racing games there is.I think this is such a great beacause of the choice. You choose what ur car looks like. The rims spoilers paint u name it.And there r the different race types not only are there drag races there are circuit, drift, and sprint. This game is not ur typical take the car and race game. Its race while pulling off amazing stunts and visually pleasing thing and getting money to spruce up ur car so much u wont know the difference from a ford focus to a ferrari. In some games crashing is bad and this is not a different case but when u crash with a car thats part of traffic and u were going a 100mph plus, well lets just say maybe some of u will be crashing more than usual. O yes the graphics are AMAZING.To the city to the car even to the very ground u race onits spectacular. They got a professional movie visualist to do the graphics.... they r awesome!IF u didnt already get this for Christmas like i did get it its worth every cent!

I used to be a 35 year-old nerd, but not anymore. When my mother bought me the new Need For Speed game, I was very disappointed. But when i started to play it, it was awesome. I had the best day of my life. I stayed up 5 nights straight playing it cuz it was so fun. It was awesome. Totally. U should buy it too. The cars r sweet, and the music is upbeat and phat. Even I couln't resist to dance to the music. Buy it now. Dont wait. This game will change the entire world. NEED FOR SPEED RULES!!!!!!!! p.s. : go to game stop and ask for a dude named Crazy Harry. He'll hook u up with incredible games for low prices. (just dont look him in the eye) i'd explain if i had time

Driving Physics????

Normally Electronic Arts means a good if not great game. This is not the case for Need for Speed Underground.

To start off I'll admit that I haven't even completed the first four races in the "underground" mode and the chances of me ever doing so are very slim. I, like many people, am fascinated by a chance to enter a simulated world of underground racing. Movies like THE FAST AND FURIOUS present a cool concept that I would never have the time or money to take part in in real life. That said, I was looking for a game that would have driving physics that were somewhat true to life. I have never driven a supped up import beyond a stock Mitsubishi 3000, but think that they would handle nothing like the cars in Need for Speed Underground. Where is the damage modeling, breaking, or downshifting for a corner? You shouldn't just mash the gas until you get near a corner only to let up on the gas and instantly lose enough speed to safely navigate it despite the fact you are in fifth gear. I get the feeling that the driving physics were made for kids who had never driven before. If they physics are dumbed down for this reason why make the AI so good? Yes on occasion you will win a race because the lead car collides with traffic, but usually you are forced to drive a flawless race with a car that doesn't react like a real car should. I guess if I spent hours playing the game I would be able to adapt to the strange physics, but I am not going to waste my time.

Thanks EA for creating a flashy package for a pour driving game. I think I'll pull out my old copy of Stuntman and actually experience somewhat realistic driving physics.

It's fast and it's furious

This game is so cool, it's got great graphics, and everything about it rocks. Other racing games seem slow after playing this.

By far the best game I own

Ok I saw someone give this a bad review saying that it was too hard, only thing to say about that is that games should be challenging so if you want an easy game go buy gran turismo or something. Next thing I saw was someone said the soundtrack sucks. Anyone who rates this based on the soundtrack is hella lame and doesn't deserve to play it. This is the best racing game I have ever seen. Filled with tons of ride upgrade options and providing the coolest cars on the street. (Accept for the Pugeot, what was that about?) I only wish they would have had a honda prelude in it then it would have been perfect. My only complaint with it is that once you beat it you can't go back and retry and races. But besides that this is a must have for any import racing fan, or a fan of any racing for that matter. So if you aren't lame like that guy who said it was too hard and love a challenge then pick this up, you won't be disappointed.

Buy Tokyo Xtreme Racer instead!

I bought this game because of the hype that it DOES NOT live up to. First, the graphics are both blurry and grainy at the same time. It's almost impossible to see what on the track or even the track itself! Second, it's WAY to hard. If you hit a car, tree or even scrape a guardrail alittle to hard you need to restart the race. You will NOT be able to catch up. If your interested in a good street racing game the go buy Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Zero or TXR3! These 2 games are much better the this pile of cr@p!

Awsome if you don't have a car

Ok let me start this off by saying that this game is really really fun, but you can't compare it to MCII they are 2 totally different games. The reason why midnoght club 2 has less graphical quality is because the game had to render not only the cars but the entire city, that takes alot of computing power. need for speed underground, doesn't have entire citys to render therefore it has more attention to detail. I love the cinematic camera reminds me alot of Burnout 2 except there *IS* no damage, I know you'll say oh these are real car brands they can't do reall damage on the car the automakers would get po'ed well let me tell you something. The need for speed series starting having damage appear on cars in NFS:HS what cars did the damage first appear on, lets see; camaro, firebird, MERCEDES, ferrari, Porsche, *McLaren f1* i mean the list goes on, not to mention that porsche had a game entirely devoted to them will full damage modeling. And the last game, NFS:hp2 for ps2, had damage modeling, and that game had all of the super expensive car makers. Why would they not have damage modeling in this one, makes me think that the automakers are trying to hide something, like horrible crash tests or something; also i would think that actually having a damage modeling system in the game would deter people from street racing, since they would see the ugly side affects to smashing into somthing. the damage modeling is my only bif. the rest of the game is challenging , fun, and the ps2 vs. PC is GENIOUS i mean, next thing you know they'll release a Ps2 vs. gamecube vs. Xbox vs. PC, it could be done, if the only differences between the games is the graphics, then everyone will be all set, it would be the ultimate competition of the systems.

I bought this game for my ps2 and reviewed it for the ps2, because the pc version ran choppy in the demo, and i just bought a new video card so i'm not going to upgrade again anytime soon. the ps2 version is just as good, except the game doesn't have the choice of different resolutions.

Great game, kudos to the developers on this one.

Great game with some minor bugs

I bought this game yesterday and have been playing it for a good 8 hours combined so far, even multiplayer.

Pros:

The graphics are just superb, dynamic lighting reflects and refracts across the ground and the cars. The lights even cross-bounce off of the cars, it's amazing. Water droplets stream from the back of cars as they fly past you. When you hit objects in the road, they toss and fly off your car like in a John Woo film. The cars are very well-modelled.

The physics in this game are the funnest part. They are more arcade than simulation style, and allow for some awesome power slides and superb drift format racing. You skid across wet roads and gain points for "superb" drifts. I am having more fun with the off-the-wall physics of this game than GT3 (which I play like a religion). A crash can greatly affect you during a race, also, it sends you into a slow-motion bullet-time effect during crashes and big jumps. During NOS boosts, everything blurs and goes into warp-speed as you rip through, very nice effect.

The sound is another high about this game. Everything from gear "clink" changes to NOS boosts are amazing, tire screeches and the like are some of the best I've heard in a racing game. The soundtrack is pretty good too, it has the street racing esque theme. Good for the mood.

The story mode will keep you entertained, I love it. The race situations are fun, and make you actually CARE about winning parts.

Cons:

No replays. I don't understand why this wasn't included in the game but oh well.

You can't play your saved cars against your friend's, you can only play with different cars from the same save file.

Only one city to drive in, with the same weather conditions, and the same time of day; night. If you can stand playing on different tracks with the same look throughout, you will hopefully enjoy this game.

Minor bugs: In 2 player split screen mode, I experienced problems with the second players throttle sometimes not working. Also, after a split screen race, when trying to leave, clicking "OK" doesn't do anything.

Conclusion:

This really is a fun game. If you can get past the cons that I have mentioned, then you will really enjoy playing this title. In my opinion, this is better than all of the racing games I own except for GT3. It beats Auto Modellista, and it definitely beats Midnight Club 2. At least rent it and check it out.

P.S. - I am very annoyed by the number of reviews for this game that are before it's release date, by people who admittedly haven't even played the game, and also by people who write all in caps. They are screwing up the reviews for this game by hyping it up without ever playing it. UGH.

Need for speed is definetly the best game I have ever played.
The cars are faster and stronger than Hot Pursuit 2!
