What the hell?

ook.
First off, this game has about 1,000 problems, I don't know here to begin, so I'm not. I'm just going to say, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME unless you are a hardcore Medal of honor fan or something.
I mean God, they got lazy when making this game. The only thing good (besides a few other things) is the Guadalcanal mission.

So save your money and buy Pacific Assault next year.

Disappointed

After playing MoH Frontline and the PC games I came to expect a lot out of the MoH line of games. Maybe my expectations were too high, but this game has some serious downfalls. The biggest downfall is the pitiful AI. What was EA thinking? Oh, wait, of course, use the MoH name and suck money out of people. The best part of this game is the first few minutes of play while in Pearl Harbor. After that the game becomes a joke. MoH Rising Sun is too short, too easy and has no intensity. There is no tactical fighting; it is simply straight "rush in" combat. The only difference between hard and normal difficulty is how fast you take damage, it does nothing with the AI. Want a brainless shooter? Then this game is for you. Want a strategic game? Look to SOCOM or pick up MoH Frontline for $19.99 or less. Frontline is definitely better. I am thinking EA spent all the development on the online aspect of MoH RS and then threw together some quick levels for single player. I love online play of most games, but I will not even go there with this one; the single player version left me with no desire to play the online mode.

Where's the beef

I can't give this game much credit, with the exception of the audio. The game is very short. Six hours on an FPS is laughable. Half of that prblem is the AI. I don't know about you, but when I need to reload I try to take cover. Instead "they" go to an open area, stop, then start reloading. That isn't AI at all. The walking fungus in Mario was smarter.

The weapon selection is a bit on the short side. I know it took place in WWII. I also know there was more than FIVE guns (a fire extinguisher doesn't count). Yeah, I can mount guns. They look a little different, but feel the same. Sorry.

I might be too critical of this game because of anticipation, or maybe the game was over-hyped. I gave it a chance, and I was let down.
P.S. There is always XIII

Expecting more

I loved the first Medal of Honor and I was loving this game until.....I realized the AI was really off and too easy. Not only that but the weapons selection was much less than frontline assault. My biggest problem with this game is the fact that it is way too short. I finished it in two days. That is ridiculous. I would say rent it, don't buy it.

Well...It held my attention for a week!

I must say, this game was a must have for me but I suddenly lost all interest when it got too hard...I know, I know I stink at games but come on! It was on easy but the stupid Japenese witht the bayonet kills you in only 2 stabs. Aside from that the AI is average. Music is nothing compared to MOHF and in my oppinion sounds like it was taken out of an All-Star Baseball series game or Army Men RTS...
Probably the best thing of the game is the Multiplayer, although I did get tired of the levels pretty fast. The best are Maurder's at Midnight and- that's it...
Rent this game, don't buy it!
It's not worth 50 dollars...Now I have to wait 24 days to get Battlefield 1942.

A terrible sequel to a great game.

I happen to be a big fan of Medal of Honor: Frontline. I think it is the second best WWII game ever made, the best being Call of Duty. I had great expectations for this game, and I was completely stunned when I played it. It is not fun due to multiple flaws that could've been avoided, but it seemed that they rushed this game terribly.

Graphics: This game has terrible graphics. With the exception of the first level, I could've sworn I was playing a game on the PSOne. All the textures are terribly flat and it really doesn't immerse you at all. The weapon models and character models are also terrible. You can't tell allies from Japanese, and the M1 doesn't look like an M1 at all.

Gameplay: I don't know how they made a good engine go bad, but they did. 50% of the time it doesn't register hits on anything other than the chest. The maps really have no hints on where to go and where you are, so you'll find yourself running in circles in the jungle and never know it. All the areas look the same.

Sound: This is the one place where they did well. The music is great, the weapon sounds are great, and the ambient sounds are the only thing that actually makes the levels immersive at all.

Overall: Rent this if you are a fan of the series. I own all 5 Medal of Honor games before this one (Allied Assault, Frontline, Spearhead, Breakthrough, Original), but I would never buy this one.

don't even think about it-ea didn't

Had very high hopes for this title as "Frontline" was really an enjoyable gaming experience. This game, to be blunt, sucks. Incredibly linear-no thought processes are needed here. Just run exactly where the game leads you (you have no other choice) and continually shoot the dumbest and most predictable a.i. ever implemented in a game. And the length of this game is pathetic-you'll finish it in under 2 hiurs guaranteed if you have one brain cell. Never ever consider buying this big stinker.

Not as good as Frontline, but still enjoyable

Medal of Honor:Rising Sun is a very enjoyable and fun game, but it is nowhere near as good as Frontline. The opening level to Frontline, when you storm Normandy Beach is simply the most intense thing I've ever played in all the video games I've played. The opening level to Rising Sun, the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor, didn't really give me the feeling of intensity that Frontline gave me. I was expecting more in-depth material to Pearl Harbor, but theres just not enough. The graphics in Rising Sun don't look any different from the other games, which I'm dissapointed to say. Rising Sun looks worse than Frontline actually, and you kind of feel like your playing on that 90's style PSX. It gets very annoying too, when you bump into plants and stuff and you can't move, giving a feel of PSX.

The controls get very annoying at first. You kinda feel like you steering an RC car at first, but you soon get the hang of it. The weapons selection is nice, and I especially like the old silenced pistol the most. The A.I., I do have to say, has to be very retarded. You can run up to about four guys, stand in front of them, kill one, reload, and the other three wont even shoot you. It's pretty pathetic, and the Medal of Honor games are supposed to be realistic. Oh, and another thing, you can shoot an enemy about three times in the head and he'll still be alive, trying to shoot you. The enemies with the bayonettes and samurai swords will charge at you though, and stab you, taking away about half your health, which gets very annoying when you have your back turned.

Theres only about 8 levels in this game, but they each take about 30-40 minutes to complete, so the game is rather long and at some times tedious. I haven't played online yet, but from what I've heard, its not that great. Probably because were all on playing SOCOM and Madden, like myself. Rent this game before you buy it though, because you may be dissapointed if you buy it. Just remember, that its nowhere near as good as Frontline.

Response to Kyle Heiman's review. Kyle, this game is based on the WWII in the PACIFIC! So D-Day won't be there. Plus, D-Day is on Frontline. Frontline = WWII Europe, Rising Sun = WWII Pacific. D-Day took place in France. Is France on the Pacific? NO!!! So D-Day won't be part of it. Don't be stupid!

fun but boring

I got this game before I got Frontline. I liked the cover. The beginning levels were extremely easy. By the last level, it is almost impossible to beat. The Japanese soldiers are clueless. All they ever do is run at you with thier guns. The weapons are boring. I love the "welrod". Its a silenced pistol. if you shoot them once in the foot, they'll die. I still liked the game. It had good gameplay and well constructed levels and storyline.

The multiplayer is really fun. The online is ok, boring though. You can go at all the levels.

I read that Frontline is way better so I got it. It was a good choice. The grenades and most other things are better.

If you are a big MOH fan, I recommend this to you. If you like "European Assault" you would like this.

out...
