Better than Fellowship of the Ring

Yes, this is better than Fellowship of the Ring. In fact, it is a great game. You get to control Arargorn, Legolas and Gimli, but unfortunately not Gandalf. The gameplay is great, and the way the game is setup is awesome. They show a scene in virtual mode, and then it'll shift to a movie scene, or vice versa. The only way they could make this game better is if they actually based it on the book, instead of the movie. If they went by the book, they could add an extra three levels, and that's not including Frodo's part. If they included Frodo's part, then they could have around 7-8 extra levels. Of course, there is the secret level, which can be difficult. You'll find this to be a fun game once you get the hang of it. It actually starts out during the Battle of Mount Doom (which is in the introduction of the first movie). Then it goes to the time of the movies, and starts out in Fellowship of the Ring, and continues to the end of The Two Towers.

Incredible, Just to short

This game looks beautiful, it has extremely fluid controls, and talk about an onslaught of enimies. My only knock is you can beat the game with all 3 players in like 12hrs. But don't let that stop you from getting it, I does have replay value, as well as some pretty cool interviews with actors etc. Easily the best straight up hack and slash with some skill inbetween game I have played a 5 out of 5

The BEST sword-play game ever!

This game is simply awsome! I loved having the opportunity to slash through hordes of orcs. Some of the combo moves were difficult to remember, but once learned were great to use. The designers hit a homerun with Aragorn's rising attack upgrade. And playing as Legolas with those two knives was like fighting with a ninja. It would have been cool if they had added the ability to jump or climb, but it realy wasn't needed in this game. Overall, this is a must have game for any big fan of the books or movies.

Love this game!

I bought this game in November 2002 and quit playing it in January with one level to go, plus a secret level. The reason why I quit is because I just couldn't beat that final level. And I had it on "easy". I got a hint from someone on how to beat it (where to stand, etc.) and I finally did beat it last week when I tried it again.

Even if I had never beat the final level, this game would still get 5 stars from me. It's fun, a challenge, the graphics are superb, the sound is wonderful, and I love the characters (esp. Legolas) you can play, the fight combos (once you get them down), and the gameplay itself. There are parts of the game that really "kicked my tail", but it was great when I managed to beat those parts.

My only complaint is when you beat the secret level and get the secret character, his level is just the same secret level again. I would've liked to have had a special level just for him. But it is cool to be able to then play the secret character in all the levels.

I also would've loved it if I could've moved the characters around more - do more exploring rather than being stuck on a set path.

But the game is still the best I've ever played and I'm really looking forward to ROTK.

Great game

This is an awsome game! It is tons better than the first one. The Felloship of the ring is one of the stupidus games I have ever played. You can only be Gandalf, Frodo, and Aragorn. But on this game you can be the cool guys Legalos, Aragorn, and Gimli. The levels are awsome. The first ones are from the Fellowship and the last ones are from the Two Towers. THe charachaters weapons which you upgrade along the course of the game are awsome. If you don't have this game you have to get it.

Not as much fun as Fellowship of the Rings

I'd recommend getting Fellowship of the Rings for PS2 instead. I prefer games that are more open and less linear. The Fellowship graphics version just looks far less washed out.

[not as good as i'd hoped]

With all the hype surrounding this game for the last few months , I was expecting a much better efort from EA .Probably my biggest gripe is the overuse of video clips from the movie between levels . Yeah it's cool when it morphs into animation gameplay but it stikes me as being a case of the developers being too lazy to animate sequences and taking the easy way out by just throwing in clips from the movie . The facial animation on the characters looks horrible . The gameplay is slash & hack 101 and it's a VERY short game . If you're looking for something that stays true to Tolkien's work , pick up the Vivendi "Fellowship of the Ring" which was obviously a labor of love by Tolkien Fans .

Extremely BAD Game

This game [is bad]. Its straight forward no thinking type of game. You just go right into battle, very little story and very poor gameplay. The controls get hard every now and then making it even harder. The game itself would be nice if you had more freedom. Some cool features like the level up and new moves are cool, but overall the game is seriously lacking. You can only go forward and fight hordes of monsters. Its a pure hack and slash game with a 3D twist. Similar to Legion: Legend of Excalibur but with better graphics and less freedom.

I bought this game, finished it in less than a week and sold it. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you have to be a REALLY HARDCORE LORD OF THE RINGS FAN! I am and I was totally unimpressed. Unless you like 3D hack and slash with no brains, steer clear.
