A Fun Action Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 5

The Two Towers has to be the best movie based game I've ever played. It has everything a fan of the movie could want. It's like being in the movie, the graphics, detail and gameplay is just perfect. The games only problem is that it sorta rushes itself , I mean the 4th board and you're in Moria already fighting the cave troll. Plus after that part, you're out of Moria without even fighting the Belrog or even seeing it in a cut movie seen for that matter. Think they cut that out because you can't play as Gandalf and since he's a big part of that part it wouldn't make sense I guess to play it without being him. Speaking of the cut scenes it's great how it jumps from the actual live action scenes in the movie to the games version of those scenes before each level.

Well anyway it's too bad you can't be Gandalf, as that'd be pretty cool. Can't be Frodo either but I'm glad because all through the Moria scene you hear nothing but Frodo whining stuff like "help me Gandalf", so he's pretty wimpy, lol. You can be Aragorn, Legolis or Gimli though. All in all this game is pretty fun but hard too as you have so many orcs coming at you at once. I read a review that said the game is too short and that you can beat it in 5 hours. Well you have to be really good to beat this game in one day as it's really challenging.

Short and shallow.

Well, you fight some stuff, then fight some stuff, then fight some stuff. Doesn't follow the story at all. No puzzles, no adventure, no nothing except combat the whole way through - which is only five hours if you're lucky. Graphically it looks nice - well, except the character models are horrible. This is just an arcade slasher with the Tolkien name on it. No real substance.

!! A Great Game !!

I bought this game afraid that it would be the typical hack and slash, and it is, to an extent. I own Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, and I thought it would be very similar to that! I must admit that I was somewhat wrong! I really enjoy this game, the graphics are outstanding, and it is really cool how they switch from video game to movie and back in some instances. Basically you go through each level killing opponents, but as you gain experience you "buy" moves for one of the three characters, Aragorn Gimli or Legolas. As you advance through the game, you fight in the various battles that occured throughout the movie. Then at the end of each level there is a boss, who you have to fight and win in a special way. Its a great game, well worth the money, BUY IT!

Great Game!!

The Two Towers is an extraordinary game. The graphics are the best part you really felt like you're in the movie. My favorite character is Aragorn because he is the strongest out of the three playable characters. The only problem with the game is it is too short, but it is fun nonetheless. Everyone should play this game!

not what I expected

The sound and graphics are very good but the battle scenes take way to long. Killing dozens of Orcs is one thing, but staying in the same battle Zone(Helms Deep) and continually killing the same Orcs gets old. What ever happend to mid level saves? It is very frustrating to get to the final "bad guy" only to lose and have to start the mission completely over. After about 4 trys I was so frustrated I had to quit. This Game would be much better if it were 2 or 3 player so all 3 characters could play at the same time.

Cool, but short

This game is amazing. The combos are the coolest part. But, it is very short.

An Awesome, Beautifully Designed Game!

I loved Peter Jackson's vision of the book "The Fellowship Of The Ring". I have the movie and will surely buy "The Two Towers". I heard that a video game was coming out for the movie. It was called "The Two Towers". I thought it was a cool idea and all. You get to fight your way through all your enemies with swords, arrows, and other things. Yet, the name suggests that all the fight scenes would take place in the second movie. I really wanted to fight at The Gate of Moria, Moria's Mines, and Amon Hen. They actually let you do that! Thank you so much for whoever made that decision!

Point Of The Game - You either play as Aragorn, Gimli, or Legolas. Gimli is good with close combat and throws axes. Legolas is known for his bow and arrow. He can fire them off quickly and deadly. He also uses to blades for close combat. Aragorn is like a mixture of the two. He is good with close combat with his sword, and can fire off pretty nice shots of arrows. Anyway, you pick which character for each level. You travel through the Mines of Moria, Balin's Tomb, Amon Hen, Fangorn Forest, Plains of Rohan, and have the final fight at Helm's Deep. I thought the idea of this game was great. Instead, of being just one person, you get to be three! I thought this was a cool idea. (99/100)

Environments and Graphics - I just have to say that this is the most detailed game I have ever seen. The graphics are beautiful! I love them. Water makes ripples, grass sways, and much more. Also, try to shoot a guy with an arrow. Usually, in games the arrows just disappear into the guy's body. Yet, in this game, you see the arrows sticking out of the guy. So you can fire one off right into his body and see it stick! The environments are great. My favorite has to be Amon Hen. It just looks so much like the movie! I thought it was so cool! (97/100)

Action, Adventure, and Violence - I love this game so much! I have probably stated this a few times. Anyway, there is a lot of action in this game. Every part of the game has action or is suspenseful. There is a lot of violence in this game. It is pretty realistic (arrows in head, blood)! Also, after you beat a level you can make up new moves to eliminate your enemies. I thought that was sweet! I still love the game though! (96/100)

Music - The music in the backround is just like the movie. It made me want to watch the movie again and again. The main song is played all the time. It is great to hear it in the backround (100/100)

Weapons - A lot of people say that the weapon inventory isn't too good. I don't agree. When I bought the game, I wanted it to just be arrows, blades, and swords. I think it little knifes would've been a cool trick though (Boromir in the movie throws one into a guy's neck). Yet, I still loved it. Some of the weapons can become upgraded (I said this before). So you can do many things. Light your arrows with fire, throw axes stronger, and use your sword better! So I liked the weapons. I'm still waiting for a little throwing knife! (97/100)

Unlockables - You can unlock certain things in this game. You can make slo-mo (yes, arrows go in slo-mo too), invincibility, and more. Yet, you can only get these things once you beat the game. (96/100)

Overall - It's probably my favorite game! It is just so much fun! If you are going to buy this game, buy the movie. Because after one level, you'll want to watch it! It is so much fun to see a game like this! Thank you!

FINAL GRADE - 97 A+

I just bought my PS2 a couple of weeks ago and got "the getaway" game with. The game is challenging and fun and the story is cool (I just love that accent!) but I found my self looking for a new thrill very soon. As I was walking down the street I saw "the lord of the rings: The two towers" for only 35$ (It was very cheap back then), I bought it amediately and ran home to play it. I have to say it left me with my mouth open for days! The game is so amazing and so captivating I couldn't stop playing it until my eyes started to hurt... One of the best features in the game is it's soundtrack. The voices of the original cast and that music really pulls you into middle-earth and gets your adrenaline pumping. I just finished it a couple of days ago and I reccomend it with all my heart and pocket...
