Wow - what graphics and action. Best FPS yet. Blows away Wolfenstein or Call of Duty. But you better get a great video card. It would not run on my Radeon 9000 Pro. I had to buy a 9800XT for $500 to run this game. Ouch. But its still worth it.
By FAR the best this year

I haven't been able to stop playing this game since I got it. It takes the first person shooter to a whole new level. The graphics, gameplay, physical interaction with the environment and objects are amazing. What is most impressive with Fry Cry is the AI. I have not played a game to date that has this much realistic AI in it as Far Cry does. I highly recommend this game. Have fun in paradise.

Awsome game! I liked everything about it! Just make sure you have the recommended requirements. 1 gig Ram or better a must. GeForce 4 or better a must. My son and I have almost identical systems but he has 512 meg "o" Ram and it won't run. Ran without a hitch on mine at a medium setting. Graphics are awesome.
2.8 Intel Northwood
ASUS P4P800 Motherboard
1 gig ram
GeForce 4 TI 4600 128ram
The save thing is a little bit of a bummer but I still give it 5 + stars. I hope half life 2 and Doom 3 are this good. Took about 3 days to solve it. Well worth the money.
Happy gaming!

Far Cry was probably the best first person shooter I have ever played. And believe me, I have played many. This game kept me intrigued throughout. The graphics are incredible. Of course, that means your PC has to be able to measure up. I always play the highest difficulty, therefore, I found the game pretty challenging. I thought I wouldnt like the lack of quicksaves. But, I found that it made me try harder to stay alive. This means, this game raised the bar on keeping you alert and very cautious. Like it should be. Realism. Thats what it is all about. Buy it.

I have spent the last 6 years since Half-Life was released looking for this a game to fill the void I have felt. When it never came I was forced to replay the Half-Life single player over and over again in order to get that SP immersive gameplay fix.
My wait is over. I saw the demo for this posted on one of the gaming sites and thought I would check it out. My jaw was hanging open the whole time I was playing. Then I had to wait for the game. That was the most torture.
Stunning graphics are easily done by a bunch of the engines that are available, but graphics tdo not make a game successful. After a while you tune out how pretty everything is and just start geting into mission mode. The graphics help this to happen.
AI opponents who dive for cover when their companion gets sniped? WOW, that gave me chills. Sitting on top of a hill sniping into an enemy base camp and thinking I am free and clear only to have 3 guys try to encircle the hill I am on to flank me!?! Wow.
This game really kept me from using some of the tried and true boring old formulaic single player tricks. The AI really behaved more like a thinking human opponent would play. I am glad to see that so many people have now also found this game to be a winner. I expect it to be game of the year. That is if it doesn't get overshadowed by Doom3. That would be unfortunate.
If you like a hearty single player first-person shooter that actually challenges you (try it on hard and see how good you are) I can not recommend this game enough
Stunning!

This game just looks amazing. Its a very addictive game simply because of the gameplay and brilliant graphics. The game also incorporates real-time lighting and shading effects to a degree rarely seen before. The sound effects in the game contribute heavily to the creepy atmosphere. Far cry is a stunning game and has definitely taken the bar for graphics to a new height. I would highly recommend this game!

Well so far I can say that Farcry is a great game, from its sprawling jungle environments to the cramped and dimly lit indoor levels. Farcry flashes out a lot of pizzaz not just in the graphics, but also in the sound and enemy AI as well. The first couple of levels it wasn't very noticeable, but as I progressed further into the game the AI became a lot more aggressive (and smart). At times you'll be taking pot shots at the enemies in the distance only for another to come and mow you down from behind or from some other angle that you failed to cover. The game is filled with many tense moments like when you're hanging by a thread of life and suddenly more reinforcements rappel from a helicopter to add extra tension and uneasiness to your efforts.
All this flash and cool stuff does however, come at a pretty high cost as others have mentioned before. At this time I'm able to set all things (water, shadow, texture levels, etc.) to the highest level minus the resolution (2nd highest setting) with a P4 3.0 Gig, 1 Gig of memory, and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB) graphics card. For those with lower end computers this game is NOT recommended because I was using the same setup except with half the memory and a pretty outdated FX 5200 card (128 MB) and I had to set everything to the lowest settings in order for this game to function.
In closing, for those of you that have pretty high-end systems this game is highly recommended as it is one of the best FPS that I've ever played. For those with lower end systems this game is NOT recommended though as mentioned before due to the sheer amount of power needed to get this game going. Overall a solid game that will easily hold you over until Doom 3 and Half-life 2 come out. Happy hunting <><

I bought Far Cry after reading positive reviews for it, thinking it was going to be a decent FPS game. Well, after countless hours I spent beating the game (the game is very long for an FPS game) I would have to say that Far Cry is much more than decent, it's spectacular. First and foremost, the graphics; wow. I actually died a couple of times just because I was admiring the scenery. The new CryEngine that Far Cry utilizes is stunning to say the least. It creates majestic scenery, dark interior environments, realistic character models, and packs a physics engine that rivals anything I have ever seen. The "rag doll" physics are fantastic. Now, Far Cry's gameplay. Honestly it handles better than almost every FPS game i've ever played. They try to make it realistic, but not too realistic to where it limits the amount of fun you can have with it. The levels are very non-linear making the single player campaign a blast. Of course I have my gripes about the game. The lack of a save anywhere feature was a little ridiculous at times, but it didnt really bother me as much as some of the other reviewers here. It makes the games a little more challenging but no less fun IMO. The multiplayer also lacks in some areas. Those are my only two complaints about this game. IN SUMMATION, FAR CRY IS ONE OF THE BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS EVER MADE. BUY THIS GAME, DOWNLOAD THE PATCH, AND MARVEL IN ITS GLORY. The fact is this game is just plain pure, and simple fun. Cant wait for Doom 3 now!

Having heard so much about this game, I could hardly wait for the installation to finish. But the wait was worth it.
What makes this game great is its immersive storyline, outstanding detailed graphics, amazing game play and its fast paced action.
I won't tell you much about the story, I'll leave it up to you. But while I was playing it, it felt like watching a movie. The action, the suspense, the surprises keeps you immersed from start to end.
The game play is great. You won't find yourself stuck in places and having to load your game. The character moves smoothly, the weapons are quite accurate especially if you kneel or prone. The AI is pretty good, they'll follow you almost anywhere. It isn't impossible to hit the enemy, and when you need to drive a vehicle you have the F1 key to switch to a 3rd person view. Though I enjoyed driving from the first person view.
Words could not do the graphics any justice. If you play the game for 1 min on the first level you'll see what i mean. The graphics and the details are unbelievable. The only problem with this is that you need a very performing computer. Even on my P IV, 512 DDRAM, Geforce 4 5600FX, 3.0 GHz the game was totally unplayable at MEDIUM level of details in areas crawling with buildings. You should absolutely try the demo and download the latest drivers for your pc before you get the game.
The game can get a bit frustrating at some levels. And the demand for a high performance computer cannot be ignored. But all in all this is the best FPS I've played in years, and I think it might just be the Half-Life of 2004.
Dying to Play (Really!)

Nice graphics and a logical story thread rolled around a tough first-person shooter game. I'm not a gamer "guru" - I just like them. I started in Medium difficulty which was a huge challenge. Some of the Big Boss fights are near impossible, even using the \save_game cheat. I had to use another cheat to pass to one of the next levels, giving up after being killed what seems like a thousand times. You can get killed with a couple of shots, and shooting an AI with a rocket doesn't phase them!
The second round I played Easy mode, and knowing the terrain and the bad guys, you can take your time blasting your way through a level and begin hunting the AI's instead of their targeting you. And, I found a lot of stuff I didn't know was in the game, the price you pay for the fierce fights in an upper level of difficulty. The Difficult or the "Realistic" modes must be nightmarish.
This game will tax your system so turn the cooler fans on, and download the most recent drivers for your sound and video drivers. A fun side-track is to use your binoculars a lot in the game. They not only pinpoint the AI's, you can zoom in and listen to their conversations. Some are funny (ala No One Lives Forever) and some give clues. All in all a great game challenge.
