One of the best FPS ever!

This game is just great. The graphics, the physics, gameplay.....
but the most interesting thing is, that this game wasn't developed in the USA, but in a small town in Germany. With a budget of only 6 Million Dollars, they created this game within 5 years. They created the CryTec engine to wich most other engines look quite poor. So please give some respect to the "old" Europe ;-)

Good Game

I like this game. It is a good game. The only thing is that you have to have a really good comp to play with high graphics. The graphics are amazing on this game they r so good that everthing looks real. If your comp can handle it i recomend this game. I was running an AMD 2600 with 512mb ram and a gforce fx 5700 128mb. I could play it on high but it was really laggy. I played it on med just fine and on med the graphics are fine.

AWESOME GAME!

This is by far one of the best FPS games on the market. The graphics are stunning, including the underwater detail. It's long and it's great fun. A couple hints...keep a full supply of grenades and re-supply them liberally and ALWAYS keep a full mag in your weapon!

Whiners!

If you hadn't realized after dying the fiftieth time, let this be your wakeup call. THIS IS A GAME ABOUT STEALTH. This is not one where you can survey who's around for about two seconds and then start shooting with the M4 or sniper rifle. You have to use the binoculars to know exactly who's around you, and figure out how you're going to kill them, or get around them. You know what I've found to be the most invaluable "weapon" in the game? The rock. Distract the enemies and do what you've gotta do.
If it won't install on your PC or runs slow, most likely you don't know how to optimize for running games, or your system has problems already.
Anyway, this is a great game once you understand how it's meant to be played.

Far Cry addiction

This game is very easy to manuver using the mouse for veiws, aiming, and the keyboard for foward backward, side to side.

You have access to a long range of senery and sniping ability.

The attackers are not predictable and they will flank you.

Have to stop playing, my fingers are tired but stronger!

Timeless game!

Although you can't compare the AI on this game to that of Gears of War, it's pretty close for being 3 years older. The environmental freedom is great as well, althought you can't really go anywhere you'd like it's close enough so that you can strategize your stealth attacks. The scare factor is pretty fun also, it's not as crazy as DOOM but if you're not paying close attention, BAM! those monster pop out of nowhere. After a while it gets a lil repetitive, but I haven't tried the game on the hardest setting, which will probably give me a run for my money with all the things they may add. I can't comment on the online play, I don't think I am at the right level to play against all the superb online gamers out there so I haven't traveled to that realm yet. Overall this game is tight and definitely fits the classic category.

Gorgeous but TOO FRACKIN' DIFFICULT!!!

Even three years after it's release, it's still the best looking game i've ever seen.

I'm playing it again this month, and it starts out easy enough, but is now getting RIDICULOUSLY IMPOSSIBLE.

If you get it, play it on EASY mode, with AI balance ON. Otherwise, thou art screwt!

STILL THE BEST FPS IN THE LAST 4 YEARS!

2004 was a good year for FPS games. Both HALF LIFE 2 and FAR CRY were released. Whereas DOOM III and QUAKE IV came and went - (not exactly unnoticed but does anyone play them today?), these two were here to stay. Nevertheless, whereas HL2 eventually got to my nerves with the whole STEAMed-permission-to-play-for-30-minutes blunder, FAR CRY was the game I loved the most and replayed again and again.

The graphics are just amazing! HL2 may have crisp and clear textures too, however, FAR CRY's are also realistic and detailed even at maximum resolution. The controls are intuitive and remapable - and take the character (Jack Carver) precisely where you want him. Running is fast and crawling is effectively silent. When greater distances are to be covered, vehicles are available to commandeer.

The weapons are beautiful: a mix of real and futuristic improvements. Ammo is never really a problem (well, with the exception of the Sniper rifle bullets and the RPG loads when they would really tip the balance in your favor) and, most importantly, the damage they inflict is TRULY BALANCED: both enemies and player go down with about the same amount of damage (you would be surprised on how many games this is not true - STALKLER for one...).

The story is interesting, the locales truly breathtaking and the horizon the further you have ever seen in any game! True free roaming is not actually available (try to round an island with a speedboat to circumvent same stubborn enemies and a black helicopter will chop you to pieces), however the taste is at the tip of your tongue the whole time.

The sounds and music have been worked on with care and they maximize the gaming experience.

My only (minor) objection focuses on the battles with the mutants: FAR CRY features one of the best enemy AI ever encountered. I truly savored battling human AI - but was apprehensive when another mutant segment was coming up. Then again, the game never lets you get bored.

I am not an easy costumer (feel free to browse through the rest of my reviews, you will see what I mean...); nevertheless,

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Well, Far Cry certainly lives up to the hype. I was amazed at the level of visual detail available, and the environments are very impressive. Gameplay was relatively straight-forward, and the variety of weapons made each mission require different tactics. All in all, a good game that was worth the price (and the wait!).

Oldie but a goodie!

Yes this game is not very new, but still tons of fun. If your computer is newer you will enjoy the graphics that this game has to offer.
