An amazing, totally cool game

I'm a big fan of action-adventure computer games, and I was intrigued by KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords. I heard a lot of great things about it and decided to buy it.

When I got home and started to set the game up, I had a few difficulties getting the game to launch. The only way I could get it to work was to disable the sound entirely. Later, however, I got the sound to work by installing new drivers for my sound card.

When I first started playing the game, I was totally bored. Where was my robe and lightsaber? I was carrying a wimpy plasma torch and I ran into some weird droids.

But the longer I played the game, the more I liked it. I got to fight really cool enemies, use awesome weapons, and wield amazing Force Powers like Shock and Force Whirlwind.

I got a large party after a few levels and I managed to get control of some cool warriors like Bao-Dur, a hero from the Mandalorian Wars, as well as Atton Rand, an outlaw recently escaped from prison.

Overall, I thought this game was really, really cool and worth every penny of the $38 I paid for it. The graphics and sound are awesome and the movies are great.

I was a little leary of the game after reading some of the reviews, but once I started playing it I realized that if you play it on a powerful computer, you don't have to worry about long loading times or crashes.

GIVE BIOWARE THERE GAME BACK!!

When I fist heard that KOTOR 2 was being released I was really excited and of course it had alot of hype surrounding it as do all games such as importing your charactor from the first game ect. Then I found out that they switched developers I lost my enthusiasm. THIS GAME MAKES NO SENSE!! There are so many unanswered questions like in the beggining your on the Ebon Hawk with Kriea (the old lady) and the droid but it never explanes how you got there. They talk about your charactor from the first game but keep changeing his/her gender around. It takes waaaaaaaaay to long to get things done hell, it took me 20min just to find clothes, and i didnt get my lightsaber until i was halfway through the game!! You go to the same planets as well like dantooine and Korraban and a few new ones like Telos and Duxn but nothing to revolutionary. There is rumor of a third game in the works but if its made by this company again i wouldent even bother picking it up. Unless your a big fan of the series and you enjoy unfinished plots than this games for you but if your like me and want to ENJOY the game i would just rent this one so your not left behind when the third games released. In the mean time go play Jade Empire (the game bioware was working on instead of KOTOR 2) its REALLY good but a little short i beat it in 21hours and 3min but you sould buy it anyway.

this game sucks

I ONLY GAVE IT ONE STAR BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GIVE ZERO STARS. The original game is wonderful; relationships are built slowly with interesting banter that ranges from dramatic to romantic. The violence is what it is, but you have a choice whether to venture to the dark side or not.
KOTOR II is very dark, lacks substance. Nothing likeable about any of the characters. Starts slowly, moves very quickly and aside from the invisible duelist, is quite easy to beat. 9 hours, give or take a few for cereal breaks, but this game really stinks.
FOR A SEQUAL, YOU SHOULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO CHOOSE AT THE BEGINNING WHETHER REVAN WAS LIGHT OR DARK AND SET UP YOUR CHARACTER THAT WAY. OR EVEN HAD A WAY TO READ FROM YOUR SAVED GAMES FROM KOTOR 1. THIS WAS A RIP OFF, LAME EXCUSE FOR A SEQUAL. LAME. LAME. LAME. LAME. LAME. SORRY, FOLKS, THIS GAME IS LAME.

Don't Do This!!!

Okay, let's start with the baisics. It takes about 30 minutes to start up the game. They make it too complicated by just making you choose all of your skills, powers, looks, class etc. It gets too confusing at times and takes too much time. And then when you finally get started, I opened a few doors, got some stuff and then, i had nothing else to do. i couldn't fight, got no weapon. no nothing. I don't know how all you other people got to progress with the game, but i lost my patience and stopped.

If you are patient gamer, this game could be for you, but I had a time limit on this game.If you are Star Wars fan, this game is not for you. If you like the nice designs of the star Wars buildings, clothings, weapons and creatures, this game is not for you. It has nothing to do with Star Wars except the fact it's entitled Star Wars.

I don't know, if it is just my lack of patience with the game, or they just tried to make it very hard at first and a wiz at the last, but I did not enjoy this game. Mabey you will, or mabey you will suffer the same fate as I.
Also, if you are a Star Wars fan

Not what it could be

As a fan of the original, I thought KOTOR 2 would be a good investment. I figured I would want to go back and play it as a scout instead of a soldier, evil instead of good, etc. I no longer have dreams of such grandeur.

KOTOR 2 has some major issues beyond the extreme let down of the ending(if it can be called an ending). The frame rate does drop to nothing MANY upon MANY times. The gameplay freezes. Several times I would be at the end of a major battle, the screen would cut away as if to go to a cinematic, and no cinematic would emerge. The screen would remain black, but I could still enter commands and hear the lightsabre slashing away at something that was killed. At those points I had to hope I had saved the game recently, and then had to restart the x-box owing to the fact that the game would not continue on. This would be followed by the exact same occurance when I tried to get past the exact same spot. Only by a stroke of luck was I actually able to continue on after an average of six or seven restarts.
The next point of dis-interest would be the horrible AI of the companions. Entering commands for them, then switching back to the main character to continue the battle, did not usually help as it should. Instead, the companions would normally just stand there and do nothing to kill the enemies. It may have been an easier game to play in solo mode because of the lack of intelligence of whoever programmed the companions.

Do not be fooled by what you have been told. While being able to influence your companions alignment may sound fun and exciting, it is pointless. It does not have any effect on the story line, or how they act in battle.

Above and beyond all MAJOR game flaws, the ending is hideous. There is no victorious feeling when you finish this game. I presume the programmers could not be bothered to take the time to create a cinematic that showed the characters jumping for joy over their victory (or demise depending on alignment). Having an ending is a simple request made by gamers, but alas, gamers the world over have been denied this simplistically essential pleasure.

I can only hope this game has faults because of a rushed deadline. Otherwise I have lost all faith in these game makers.

My advice: If you loved the first game, wait for KOTOR 2 to become a platinum hit and get it for twenty bucks instead of the insanely high price it is currently set at. While you should not miss this if you were a fan of the original, don't expect much out of it.
If you aren't much of a KOTOR fan, and you are only considering this game because someone said it was good: run to that persons home, render them unconscious, steal their wallet, and spend their money on a different and better game.

Junk compared to the first one.

Yeah there may be more to this game then the first but the programmers for the 2nd KOTOR need to get slapped. And the testers too for that matter.

Sometimes you won't be able to target enemys when they're right in front of you (mainly droids); sometimes if you pause (to setup some new attacks, etc.) during battle and you've got a health pack that was queued up and its time for it to be used (1st in the queue), it will steal the medpac from you and not give you your health points. Another thing, sometimes if one of your party members bites the dust and you eventually win the battle, they live yes but if you've got a character that can heal, that's not your main character, they'll waste their force mana (or whatever you call it) to heal the person who bit the dust but none of their health returns so it just wastes the force mana.

Another annoying thing is when using shields or stimulants, sometimes they just mysteriously stop working, even right after you use em'. What's that all about?

The thing I hate most is sometimes you'll queue up a bunch of commands during battle, for lets say charcter X, then switch to another character to queue up commands, we'll say charcter A, and then character X does NOTHING. Just stands there. Are you kidding me? So you move them and all the commands disappear, what a joke.

I've even had characters get stuck and not be able to move too, that was fun.

How about auto leveling up your other charcters that aren't your main character, just to save a little time? DON'T DO IT, you won't be happy as it gives them complete useless feats and opposite feats to what it gave them last auto level up; for example, one charcter I auto leveled up has focus on dual weapons and single?!?!?

KOTOR 1 RULES over this game. What did they do, hire a bunch of cheap idiots to program this game with the old KOTOR engine? Must be.. This game sucks.

Same Beginning, Cliffhanger Ending

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is suprisingly fun.

Pros:
-More Appearences(Faces for the character)
-HK-47 and T3-M4 are back!!!
-Ebon Hawk is back
-New Worlds
-New Characters
-New Weapons
-New Force Powers
-New Feats
-New Lightsaber Colors(Bronze,Silver,Orange and a Light Green)
-Fun Missions
-Beginning is Freaky
-Great Music(Especially in the Beginning)
-Finally can Regenerate Vitality Points(VP)
-Cliffhanger Ending(Makes you wonder)

Cons:
-Frame-Rate drops when too many people are on the screen
-Star Wars:KOTOR 2 is the same thing as Star Wars:KOTOR,only you search for Jedi Masters.
-After I beat the game and started a new one, my save files were gone

This game is Great. Though frame-rate problems are bad, they can be used to your advantage (ex: Your running away from a enemy, who is closing in, when the frame-rate drops. You then appear farther away. But sometimes it goes the other way around. I Recommend renting the game first, then buying it.
