A sequel that lives up to its predecessor

If you liked the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, then you won't be disappointed by KOTOR II: The Sith Lords.

KOTOR II builds upon the solid foundation of KOTOR and brings some new elements to the table to keep things fresh.

One of my favourite new features is companion Influence. This allows you to build (or neglect) relationships with your fellow adventurers and these relationships have an impact on the direction of the game. You can even bring your companions into the Force and train them as Jedi, provided your influence is high enough.

Another great addition is the Prestige Classes. Accessible later in the game, they allow you to further develop your own character beyond the basic Sentinel-Consular-Guardian classes.

While still absolutely playable even if you haven't experienced the original, I would have to say that the story is pretty closely tied to events of the first game and you will get more out of the sequel if you've played the original.

More Plot Twists! More Jedi Powers! New Planets!

Knights of the Old Republic II, A.K.A. the Sith Lords or K.O.T.O.R. II. This game rocks!

The saga continues unveiling even more plot twists from the first KOTOR. Be a Jedi or a dark Sith, it's up to you, and your friends will ally with you either way.

Wield new force powers that weren't available in the first game, & explore new planets.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this game a 9.6. I've never seen a perfect game. It's only available for the XBOX game console.

I sense a disturbance in the force.

This is by far one of the best Star Wars genre games to date. It is also one of the top console RPGs of all time. My only complaint is that the game feels somewhat unfinished, as though the publisher rushed the developer into production against deadlines. Several of the character interaction scripts dead-end after one or two conversations and most of the planets offer no reason to revisit them.

Still, the implementation of the 3rd-edition SWRPG rules is excellent, the graphics and sound are tops.

One caveat: On the Xbox 360 the music files and/or sound effect files tend to cut out periodically. Also there are certain spots where the frame rate during battles lags terribly. The frame rate problem seems to be solvable by rotating the camera.

Star Wars Game

This game is easier to play than most games, especially the Star Wars group of games and is very enjoyable. It's one of my favorites!

It's a fun game whether you are a star wars fan or not. It has good story and good game play. The game play is very much like the first. There are a few problems when to select and object and your character gets stuck trying to run to it. And the game becomes rather easy once you start getting into the higher levels. Other than that it is a solid RPG.

Not living up to the original. But still pretty good.

KOTOR 1 would be on my top 3 games of all time with it's compelling story and great characters.
The original's gameplay mechanic are still here, and some new improvements as well - including new fighting styles and weapon customizing.

If you have read my KOTOR review you know I love Star Wars, espiecaly KOTOR but 2 is just filled with problems.

Pros
- More weapons and combat styles then the original {more feats is the best along with force power improvements}
- Music as good as the original
- Beautifull, explorable enviroments
- stays true to the KOTOR course
- Your allies follow your jedi ways and light/dark side.

Cons
- Characters are knowhere as interesting as the originals characters and seem to have no real effect in the games story.
- The story is ok but not as well scripted as the 1st one.
- No challenge what so ever when compared to the original.
- You fight large #'s of enemies that at times don't even fit with the story and they keep coming and it takes nothing to kill them making the game unrealistic.

I like this game, but not as much as the first. The main reason I bought it was to just see what happens next in the KOTOR story.
The main problem I have is the large # of enemies and how it is unnessasary they are in the gameplay and how easy they are.
You didn't fight too large a group in the first one making it more realistic to me. Doors also didn't open with just one security skill later in the game.

Obsiedion did an ok job but Bioware needs to work on KOTOR 3.

Great Star Wars game!!!

This game also rocks. There are lots of fascinating levels like Citadel Station and Iziz & Onderon. You can create the maincharacter or you can choose a Standart character with a Standart name. Kotor II has lots of exciting moments ans I think that this game is also one of the best Star Wars games. BUY IT!

while i wasn't a huge fan of the original (it was ok) this game is pretty much the same. nothing really new except for new powers, characters, storyline. there really is no jedi training this time around because like in the first the main character you play was once a jedi but was exiled. right now i'm lvl 16 and on the moon Nar Shadaa. here are the horrible things i have found in this game so far...

- Incredible framerate drop in some battles. I seriously thought my game crashed because everything froze during combat and i couldnt do jack until the framerate got better.

- Loading times are horrendous sometimes. Races are the worst.

- AI is more than dumb. Sometimes while fighting, my 2 partners would just stand around with thumbs in their butts not doing anything. Also, they frequently get stuck on eachother and stuck on walls, etc. It's so annoying. One more problem with my teammates AI...if there are mines in front of enemies they will charge right through the mines like they never saw them and then attack the enemy on the other side, thus taking heavy damage. How dumb is that???

Those are pretty much the only bugs in the game but they can be very frustrating. I guess if there are positive things about this game they are...

- Powerful force powers (force lightning rips through everything).

- Playing the dark side always kicks butt. Getting to beat down innocent civilians is fun stuff (i wish you could kill every npc in the game. that would be cool)

When all said and done this is a good star wars game that is plagued with bugs. if you loved the first, you won't love this one...you'll probably just like it. i always hated starwars games' storylines and this game doesn't get better with it. still a pretty good game though.

Not as good as the first

First of all, the first KOTOR was an excellent game and I enjoyed it a lot. It was unlike any other game and it was the first of the star wars games where you can choose your path. The second one however wasn't anywhere near as good as the first. It lacked in many things and it seemed as if Lucas arts didn't put any effort into the game and they just decided to throw another KOTOR out there because the first one made a lot of money. This isn't too surprising because lucas arts has done this many times, they arn't too well of a game creating company.
KOTOR 2 is not a horrible game, but don't think it is any better than the first or even as good. The fact that you are already a jedi is cool but its like you dont get a lightaber for a while, and you dont just get one, you have to find the things to make it so it can even take longer than the first. The STORY LINE is horrible and it makes the game really boring. The first had a great story line, but this one is bad. It just sort of throws you out there and its almost a repeat of the first. Like the first the storly line has you specially connect with another jedi I got bored of this fact and the story line has no specific objectives. It is just basically kill one master jedi on each planet. And you get confused because you can just leave and fly to any planet without doing the objective so then you get lost and you can think you're done with a planet but you really aren't and you start wondering what you still have to do to beat the game. The story line also keeps you confused by having you not know a lot of things that happened in the past because it isnt a continuation of the first. Its like you dont know what gooing on through the whole game.
The gameplay is basically the same thing as the first and has nearly no differences. The wierd thing is that your party members also follow you to whichever path you take. And say you choose to go to the darkside, when you do something bad like kill someone good your party members always ask why they went with the flow. And its like everytime, it got really annoying. The game also tends to slow down and freeze for a second or two during the play. The worst with that situation is the menu. When you hit pause it takes a second to get there and when you switch to a different option in the menu it stalls for a second.
The graphics are a little bit better than the first not a lot though. The graphics are probably a real low in this game because all the other games during this time have good graphics, but the graphics for this game are like 2 years ago. And the game has rarely any cinematechs and all they are are your ship flying to a different planet or going into hyperspace.
The game does have some good points like the new force powers you get and the game still has that cool feeling of turning to the darkside and choosing your path like you really are a jedi. There is a problem with the whole fact of the changing sides thing though. Its like if you turn to the darkside you really aren't joining any sith in the game, you just make your own side sort of. Its like you turn to the darkside and you're evil but the sith still want you dead and they still fight you and you still want to kill them and the jedi are still like on your side even when you're evil.
Overall the game is very boring and the one thing RPG games need is an excellent story line and this one does not at all. And the game feels more like an unfinished game. If you have the first and want more, i still recommend this game but dont get your hopes up for it being as good as the first. If you dont have the first one the get the first one, it is far more better than this one.
