I am player of a great many systems, PC, PS1 and 2, and many more and this game was one of the worst that I have seen in a great many moons. Don't get me wrong, the graphics and the game play are good (for the 4 hours you'll put into it to beat it) but, I was completely disappointed in the overall game. The characters are set, and the replayablity [needs help]. One you get your character to a certain point, weapons, armor, ect., you can't go anyfurther. It wasn't even close to what I had hoped. I beat the game in a just a few hours. If you're in the mood for a short entertainment value game, then this is your best bet. If not I would suggest ANYTHING else. I expected better things from Black Isle.

This is a great game, especially if you are a fan of the Diablo series. It gets back to the D&D roots of role-playing games. Graphics are great and the action gets intense. The fact that it can go two players is a giant bonus. That fact makes a great game awesome. My only complaint, like mentioned in a prior review, is that the game is pretty short. Re-play is good because you do have three characters to choose from that require a totally new stlye of playing. This is defintely a good buy.

I played Dark Alliance on the Gamecube and it gets better each and every time. This game blows Diablo out of the water, the two player action is incredible. This game is one of the best on the Gamecube, I recommend it to everyone.

Hey mom or dad! Thinking about this game for your kid? Ever think you or your spouse might enjoy sneaking onto the PS2 while Johnny or Mary are fast asleep? Yet, maybe one or both of you are intimidated by the controllers, the graphics, or the simple "pong" like action that you grew up with in your hey-day. Well, go get this game, then get your spouse, and prepare to spend hours, evenings, and maybe even days on end working hand in hand with that person you married (for better or worse).
Don't believe me? I'm an Atari brat from the late 80s. My wife? She's not into video games. Hates 'em. You know the type. Gets about 5 seconds of Pac Man out of her quarter. Well, I tried numerous games with her. Most PS2 games are for 1 PLAYER! Thankfully, this is a FULL SCREEN two player game that gives you and your spouse the opportunity to compete hand in hand as you kick some enemy buttocks. This is not a split-screen two player game (as most everything else is today).
Ever say to yourself, "damn, i wish my girlfriend (boyfriend)/husband(wife) would get into video games with me!"? If so, pop Dark Alliance in your PS2 console and you're on your way.
The worst thing about this game? You eventually get to the end. And there isn't a sequel. And there aren't any other PS1 or PS2 games like it. We tried others, but nothing compares graphically or aurally. Spend the money and buy this game for YOURSELF not your kid! It's cheaper and better than marriage counseling!
Very fun and fast

Dark Alliance is one of the best games I've ever played. The two player cooperative mode makes the game very nice. You can acquire countless weapons and slay many monsters, all while getting closer to the goal of the mission or Act.
The only disappointing thing about the game was the length. With a gamer who spends all his time playing, it is simple and easy to win within 5 hours. The limited characters did not disappoint me, however. It may take little time to beat the game, but I can say that I have played this game at least 50 hours, and I will keep playing it with my character.
GREAT D&D-themed game!

Being a D&D fan, this game has it all - classic character choices, wide variety of terrains & bad guys and fantastic graphics. ESPECIALLY the Water schenes...outstanding stuff.
The Play Levels are true to their names: The Easy level is just that, however the game ends up being too short. The Hardest level extends the game (and eats up those potions too!) and battles last a while.

Although quite a bit like Diablo, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is one fantasy adventure you shouldn't miss. Set in the D&D universe, you play as one of three characters ridding the land of evil and leveling up your character as you progress through the game. With spells and such, this game is a sight to behold. The graphics are perfect, everything has a realistic look to it. My one and only gripe is the control...I feel it could've been somewhat better but it is a small gripe to say the least as it doesn't hinder the game.
So, if you're a Dungeons and Dragon's fan or you just like action RPGs, do yourself a favor and check out Baldur's Gate:Dark Alliance.

If you like the ability to have cooperative game play, this is an excellent game. Not since Diablo 2 has there been a cooperative fantasy role playing game like this. I love it.
The down side of the game is that you cannot do any damage to your partner. No need to be careful of your partner during battle or the ability to shoot your partner with your bow when they pick up all the gold and items.
Game play is a little slow and the graphics are more in line with a playstation than a PS2.
If you like Diablo...

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance is a really fun game. The graphics are good for a game of this genre. One of the other reviewers mentioned the water effect. This is definitely one of the best looking parts of the game. But overall, graphics and sound are good. Characters and NPC's are very realistic.
This game is a pretty standard hack and slash dungeon exploration type game (like Diablo or Gauntlet). The character development, inventory, and combat system is VERY similar to Diablo. Players are given a choice of three different character types. Personally, I would have preferred a few more choices, but the characters are very customizable with experience and equipment. So, this isn't a terrible thing.
In my opinion, Diablo is one of the best games ever. But, since they don't make it for PS2, BGDA is a very capable replacement.
