Yes Baldurs Gate is a very short game. But if you play it through with all the characters then the game becomes much longer. Also some of you have forgoten about the 2 player capabilities, wich is probobly y most of the people who rented it didn't like it. Because u never had a chance to play it with 2 players. Overall this is the best Baldurs Gate i've played. I have the first one and it proved to be an impossible game. This is much easier and maybe thats y i like it. Regaurdless this game still has replay value.
GREAT GRAPHICS
GOOD SOUND
AWESOME CONTROLS (compared to Diablo for PSX)
MAYBE TOO SHORT
FUN 2 PLAYER.

I have purchased this game twice and have run into the same glitch in the middle. It starts off really fun, gets you hooked then freezes right in the middle. I know it's an old game but come on. Buyers beware
Fun with Family!

Not being a full time gamer makes playing Baldur's Gate fun! It is a co-op game has a similar play to the old Zelda sagas. It is a perfect game for parents who want a chance to get some game play in with kids or sig. others. The controls are not that complicated and even the older generation..mothers and fathers can get into, and play this game for sheer enjoyment. It is nice to finally see some co-op games out there for people like myself (non-gamers) who would die so often the game would become tiresome. With the husband saving my butt during those times, it is actually quite fun...even for us old folks!
Finally, a 2-player NON SPORT game!

My husband and I are always on the look-out for games we can play together, at the same time, and this fits the bill PERFECTLY. It's a lot of fun. We each pick a character and then go through the puzzle together. It's rather easy to solve, puzzle-wise, but the fun is finding the best weapons and armor and "talent" (spells) for your character. I highly recommend it for husbands (whose wives aren't on the really squeamish side) who are looking for something to get their wives into playing the games, instead of just watching them play it themselves.
TONS O' FUN!!!

OK, as a teen in the 1970's, I was really into Dungeons & Dragons, so, now as an adult, I couldn't resist buying this game, and boy, am I glad I did! Pretty fun game, and for the low price, you can't beat it!
Have your choice of being one of 3 characters. Dwarf, Elf, and a Human. Each bringing to the table different abilities & use of weapons!
I mean, what more could you ask for, a cool storyline, awesome graphics, and tons of dark-demonic enemies to whoop into oblivion! And as you advance, you gain more gold, more experience, hit points..etc! Not to mention, you also gain some pretty KILLER weapons & chainmail armor! hehehe (Swords, Battle Axe's, Arrows, Magic Powers, Daggers etc...the whole enchilada!)
To sum it all up:
Hours of great fun for all you Dungeons & Dragons' lovers out there! This game is WORTH every penny! OK, so, now that you're done reading this review, go buy the game!!! :D

I've just started my quest through the world of Baldur's Gate and I'm loving every minute of it. I played for three hours solid the other day and the time went by quite quickly. For those who used to gather in the family den, multi-sided die at the ready, this will bring back good times.
The adventure is a great fusion of D&D and Gauntlet. Fairly easy to pick up, darn HARD to put down. Its similar to the Diablo experience, but unique in its own way, too. There's monsters to be slain, gold to be discovered, and experience points to garner along the way. Spread out those points as you'll need a host of skills along the way. I've only played the solo adventure thus far, but am looking forward to teaming up soon. RPG fan or not, spend some time inside Baldur's Gate and I guarantee you'll be hooked.
A Very, Very short RPG

This game is incredible, but incredibly short. The graphics, gameplay, and controls are the best i've seen for the playstation, but it is only 5... count em....5 hours long! And the only other downfall is the lack of a good character selection. There are only three classes to choose from, and any Dungeons and Dragons fan will disagree with this limitation. Other than that, an incredible game!
Top 10 RPG for PS2

This is definitely a must play for the PS2, whether you are an rpg fan or not. This game has excellent music and the voices to the characters fit perfectly. Everything is, obviously, according to D&D. The replay value is there for you can get Drizzt Do'Urden (possibly spelt that wrong), but that goes back to nothing but hack and slash. By far what makes this game the best is the fact that this is the first game that I have played that the two player co-op is really co-op. Most the time co-op games only allow the the 2nd player to assist the first in the story. In this case it allows both 1st and 2nd player to talk to the characters. This game is fun one player but even better 2.

Last year my husband and I rented this game, and we played it over the course of a weekend, pretty much whenever we were awake. It was like taking a mini vacation without having to leave home and pack for inclement weather.
We had played the original Baldur's Gate on the PC years ago with another friend of ours over our network and didn't too like the controlling multiple characters. This game version of it much streamlines the character control and the action pace is steady enough that it's not tedious or impossible.
I highly recommend playing this game in 2 player mode. That's part of the fun of the experience! I can't wait for the next installment... there's just gotta be a next installment I have unanswered questions from this one.

This is the best game ever, its got good game play, semi-okay storyline, and good graphics, the only thing that its missing is the presentation and the charaters design. They have bad... charaters, stupid looking ones, and i am not kidding, but BEST GAME EVER, dont hope for something like the PC version of Baldurs Gate to happen, its just some good game with bad charater desgin, but get it, its FUN!!!!!!!
