I'm not really a gamer, so i'll say this. It atleast got me playing untill the end. However, i RENTED this game and BEAT IT before i even had to turn it back in. So it gets 1 star for keeping me playing untill the end...but the end was too near. There really wasn't much to it.
So yes, finally, i beat a game. Yah for me. However even i know a horrible game when i see one. Its not worth the money. Rent it if you must because you probably won't have it longer then that.
DO NOT CALL IT AN RPG!!!

This game is not an RPG. Just because it bears the grand name of Baldur's Gate, that doesn't automatically make it an RPG. The storyline isn't even CLOSE to as good as the REAL Baldur's Gate story. Why is it assumed that just because you can level up abilities, you're playing an RPG? It's and action game, period. The graphics are good, i'll give them that, but that's all they get. You don't even get to create your own character, they just throw pre-made characters at you Diablo-style and expect you to cope. Creating my character was part of the fun of the REAL Baldur's Gate. The storyline in the REAL BG was amazing, and, it actually took time to beat, I felt like i'd actually accomplished something afterward. After i beat Dark Alliance, or Diablo 3, as i like to call it,(which is NOT a good thing) my only feeling/thought was,"i want my money back". Do yourself a favor and buy the real deal, pick up Baldur's Gate for PC, it's way better in every aspect except for graphics. The only saving grace Dark Alliance had was that, after you beat the secret mission at the end, you can play as the legendary Drizzt Do'Urden, a drow ranger. You won't be able to change his weapons, but if you know anything about him, you should know why. Anyway, playing as Drizzt even gets boring, because by the time you get to use him, you will have already beaten the game, so it'll basically be the same deal. When are they going to get a clue and give the die-hard fans what we really want? a game all about Drizzt?
way to short

I enjoyed Baldur's Gate I and II for the PC, for hack and slash "rpgs" they were immersive, and while not as fun as sitting around the table with my friends and my dice, they were a good waste of time. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is different. I picked it up because it was cheap, and I'm kind of a nerd and collect Forgotten Realms stuff, and it did say it followed 3rd edition rules. Right. What I got was one of the worst games money could buy that basically, in my opinion, made fun of d&d. And the magic missiles... I missed a lot with them in this game...in d&d they can't miss. Period. This game was awful... I miss games that had a plot
This game sucked

Yes the graphics are beautiful. And the action battle engine is well done. But after I reached hour 10, I was quite bored. This game has a severe curse of doing the same thing over-and-over-and-over (fighting) and virtually no story. And the ending is not even a proper ending: "The story has just begun... see you in part 2." LAME.
Horrible

Anyone who was drawn in by the depth of the PC Baldur's Gate Game will hate it. I thought, "Wow, a Baldur's Gate Game for the PS2!" and I bought it. Then I could only choose one of three pre-built characters, which lacked my favorite, thief. Then everything went downhill. I just ran around fighting anything I saw move. I hear complaints on how short it is but I wouldn't know, I quit it one hour into the game.
is this for you!

when this game came out i was excited, i've played the baldur's gate-tales of the sword coast saga on the computer and i was expecting the same sort of things here. i was a little disapointed to find that instead of being a more traditional role playing game it took on more the effect of diablo, a lone adventurer-fighter venturing down into the dungeon to kill and seek fortune. after i got used to it and started enjoying the game for what it was, it ended. offering a scant 10.5 hours of game play with little to know replay value. the game details for the most part are amazing, even if some of them are over done to the point of being abnoxious. the major flaw in is that it's over too quickly, it leaves with a cliff hanger for a sequel but it makes me wonder why they'd expect me to pay another $... for the other half of this game. in diablo when you start with a previous character the dungeon is different and the bad guys are stronger to be able to compete, the second time through with baldur's gate i was confronted with the same maze and noone who could stand up long enough for me to hit them twice with my sword.
just gimme the rest of the game.

Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance is a well made game as the other reviews here say - top graphics, playability, etc.
But it is far too short for $US40. I knocked it off over two days whislt also playing RTCW. This game should be $US20.
I recommend that buyers wait until it goes on sale.
