Of all the games coming out recently, this is the one that I looked forward to the most. We were told that the environment would react and change based on your every decision. You could be a hero or an evil villain, and your choice would make a huge impact on the world around you.
I'm sorry, but this game doesn't come through. The only real difference between being good and evil is your appearance, and how many of the women fall in love with you. The storyline is basically the same, whether you are good or evil. Replayability is next to non-existant.
It was a good game the first time through, but now it just sits on my shelf. And it was too short that first time through to really be worth the money I paid for it.
Very very short game!

I could not believe how short this game was and how little variety of monsters there were! It took me about two and a half days to beat the game!!! That is with lunch, supper, telephone and snack breaks. The variety of armour and different things to do was poor to say the least. Save some money and rent this game. I keep wondering why this game took so long to build. It should have been called Fable: Act one; the quetion is where are the other three acts that should have been programed in? Watch the price on this game drop quick in the next little while.
Good game but too short for an RPG

Pros: Fun game to play, great story, beautiful scenery, enjoyable combat system, wide variety of ways to build your character, the notion of being good or evil, interesting quests that are not difficult to figure out, cool (albeit easy) boss fights
Cons: way, WAY too short for an RPG...took me 12.5 hours to complete and I did all the optional side quests, maps/world are too simple/small, no real variety of enemies, limited *useful* weapons/armor, very poor enemy AI, the guildmaster talking to me all the time
Summary: The game has substance, but only 12 hours worth - I hope the sequel addresses this issue.
Fun while it lasted, but too short and too easy

I got this game a week ago and beat it yesterday. I enjoyed playing it, but my game time was only about 15 hours. That's less than one third the game times I've had for KOTOR. Worse, I didn't die once while playing this game. It's pretty, and the quests are pretty varied, and I liked the fighting system, and the AI was pretty good, too. But really, for $50, I want a game that lasts longer than 15 hours - or that at least I want to play again after I beat it and that's not the case here. It's a shame - seems like it could have been a really excellent game. Oh well.

Fable is absolutly my favorite game ever, I play it all the time or well when I have time. It is just the bes playable game out there for any RPG lover or whoever just likes the best RPG of all time. Anyway I think Fable is as good if not better than Halo 2, because it didn't dissapoint like Halo 2. I originally was Anti-Fable for somtime but after playing it, it became my favorite game. Anyways for those Fable-freaks like me FABLE: THE LOST CHAPTER is hitting Xbox and PC this fall don't miss oh and FABLE II is in production.
amazing but...FUNNY

I had high hopes for this game, and perhaps that was its downfall.
I had never played a game that gave you the chance to be good or evil, so that was an interesting gimmick for me. Once I got into the game, however, I was underwhelmed. My character aged so quickly it was ridiculous, and many of the examples of the AI component were, I fear, overexaggerated.
The biggest drawback to Fable, however, was its length. Just when I was starting to really enjoy myself, it was over. I played through it a second time (as evil), but it had lost much of the excitement for me. Even slaughtering whole towns...or even half a town, wasn't that great. There were some alignment-specific secrets (one demon door requires you to perform an act of great evil in front of it before it will open for you), but even the few alignment-specific parts of the game weren't that great.
It was still fun, don't get me wrong. I just found it to be less innovative than all the hype had claimed that it would be. Try Jade Empire instead...(see my review for that)

For years the developers have been dropping information on Fable. From an evolving landscape that reacts to your every action, to unlimited freedom of choice in the decisions that will effect the game's outcome, to boundless secrets, and the promise of over 100 hours of game play. What we got was what XBOX RPGs are famous for, linear game environments, predictable character development, and a game that you can complete thoroughly in about 30 hours. If you weren't expecting Fable, the game is entertaining and full of action, beautiful to look at, and admittedly the Legend of Zelda for the XBOX. If you were, you are probably left feeling manipulated into buying a product that otherwise you may have rented and finished in a weekend.
