Not perfect - but still the best RPG I have ever played.

I am not the biggest RPG player in the world, I often find them too complex and statistical to really enjoy, but I was really excited about Fable. I must say, despite the few downsides other reviewers have mentioned (lots of loadtime, relatively linear, and short), the game is just a lot of fun. The combat system is fantastic and the graphics are gorgeous. The realtime use of magic is perfect. I don't think it is true that you must become a jack of all trades. It is probably true that you can't get by just puting your power ups into one department (strenght, skill, or will), but I would guess that you could find very different ways of doing things if you focussed on just one strength. Some of the reviewers who trashed this game are underestimating the replay value I think. There really is more than one way to skin a cat, and I am looking forward to playing some of them out when I am done. Don't freak out about the bad reviews - buy it - you will love it.

I had looked at purchasing this game several times, after customers and other people I knew told me how good it was. Well, I kept passing it up and then my brother gets it for me for my b-day. I am not what you'd call a huge fan of playing video games, but every once in a while, one game comes along that grabs my attention and 'Fable' would be it. Me and my brother both have been playing obsessively since I got it. The thing that makes this game so different? You get to choose your path. You can be the good guy who saves the day, or you can end up being the bad guy who is trying to wreck it. Everything you do affects who you become.

This Game Was Awsome....Still Is...I Could Play It 20 Times Over And Not Get Bored. I Reccomend This Game To People About 14 And Over. The People Who Made This Game Are To Be Commended. The Learning Curve Was....A Bit On The Long Side. Took Me An Hour. The Storyline Was Perfect...The Battle System Was A Tad Bit On The Harder Side But Was Still Good. The Limits Are Few And Allows You To Do Whatever You Want. Kill Townsfolk, Break And Enter, Marry, Kick Chickens, Beat Up Children...Thumbs WAAAAAY Up...As For The Review Below Mine....I Bet He's Never Even Played. Zelda Rules But This Game Does To. Buy The Game Before You Review It. If You Don't Buy This Game...Your Missing Out

I was pretty stoked to try this game after reading all the hype on it. Just having finished it in under 10 hours, I'm disappointed. I'm sure the game would have lasted longer had I pursued all the minor quests, but some of them seemed too tedious. I was looking forward to another RPG similar in depth to KOTOR, or even Gladius, but Fable falls way short. I wish developers would put more effort into gameplay and overall graphics instead of lengthy and uninteractive cut scenes. The graphics were outstanding though.

Alright . . . I've rationalized this as much as I can stand. I've tried and tried to overlook the fact that Fable's just not as good as it should have/could have been.

I had so much fun playing this game . . . and then it was over--in no time at all. Even though I still had things to do in the game, they just felt pointless (i.e. collecting weapons, silver keys, opening the remaining demon doors). There's no point in playing it a second time, honestly. I'd be running down the same beautiful paths, doing the same things . . . no matter what.

I'll go ahead and tell you what ruins this game: it's too short because it's TOO EASY!

If you're getting it and just starting out, here's a word of advice: sell all your resurrection vials, use a weak weapon and don't wear any armor. Then, and only then, will it be any sort of a challenge. There are lots of nice tattoos, so going shirtless is a good option.

To have an M rating, it nearly seems that Fable was made for children, difficulty-wise. Also, it's really not an RPG. There are slight elements of that in here, but, all in all, it's just a GTA-ish-styled game (with less freedom than that) that has some nicely-done details and design. Beyond this, Fable just costs far too much and has had far too much hype for being the "greatest RPG of all time."

Buyer beware. Good game, but not what you think it is.

It didn't win best RPG of the year for no reason. Believe the hype and ignore the haters. Get the game. No online play was the only glitch.

This is the worst overly-hyped game I have ever played. The story? Weak. The gameplay? Sickeningly linear. The graphics? Curiously sub-par. (Nowhere NEAR Final Fantasy X....not even in the same league.) Combat? Boring. NPC Interaction? (The Sims is sadly more involving.) Steer clear folks. This is a dud.

I havent beat this game yet, but so far I havent been disappointed. I like the idea of what you do changes how you are looked at in the present and future. You can marry, buy a house or hire ppl to fight with you. It has a good fighting (Not Awesome) set up and the bad guys change there fighting on how you approach the fight. I dont buy many RPGs but this is worth it. Its like Zelda only with a original idea.

I just finished Fable and I enjoyed it. It's not worth $49.99 (not too many games to me are, with the exception of a few). I purchased it for $29.99, it was worth that. The things I liked most about the game was that you could kill whoever (I never tried Maze; until I had to towards the end of the game, or the Guild Master), get married (you could have multiple wives or husbands), optional quest, change of appearance and all the gestures. The part of being either good or evil is getting kind of redundant in games these days but it still makes the game more interesting, definately not a bad flaw and it gives the game replay value. The only things I didn't like about the game was the Guild master saying "There's an important quest card at the guild for you" over and over and fishing (which was ok when you first started but it got pretty difficult later on). None of these were that bad, just got kind of annoying at times. This game is definately worth buying if you like these type of games.
