I started playing video games many years ago on PC. The first day I played Stars Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, I was hooked! This is the second game (first being the "Krondor" series on PC) I've played that made me feel like I was in their world! Lots of emotion!
Since my husband and I play, we notice there are differences to storylines due to the gender of our character. We put in about 50 hours of gameplay each. We've only played as "light-siders" so far and will probably be even more different leaning toward the dark side.
The interaction with the other set characters is excellent. You are able to choose what you would say to someone from a list of dialogue and the dialogue was the funniest I have ever heard! There's even a little romance in it!
In conclusion, I recommend buying the Xbox for this game!
Now this is what an RPG should be.

This is the best RPG I have played in years. What an incredible game!
I like the variety of characters and interactions. Some of the characters, such as HK-47, the assassin droid, are downright hilarious. The story is certainly better than either of the two new Star Wars movies by a long shot.
There is not only a detailed main storyline, but numerous sidequests as well.
This is more of a classic turnbased combat system, rather than direct, real-time combat. This may disappoint players looking for an action RPG. Nevertheless, combat looks great, and sometimes it's fun just to sit back and watch the battles unfold.
This is one of my favorite games for XBox. I consider it a must-have, especially if you enjoy RPGs.
RPG can be fun

First I want to say I was a little dissappointed when I heard it was a rpg game. Reason being I never played one before thats all. This game made me a rpg lover. well anyways I think the overall game is great. Good story line lots a choices and side stories. My only dissapointment is was the game was not longer and you see a few characters that look the same and you say to yourself did I not meet this person before. However these things did not take away from my overall experience of the game and I feel a proud owner of X-box to have played this game. I can dream that they will make another rpg of Star wars for x-box and like some people I talked to I have the same opinion which is it fullfills a lot of star wars fantasy. Thanks for a great star wars experience!!!!!1

This game is probably one of the best I've ever played. It is so huge with so many ways to handle objectives it hurts. The game has tons of background story and sub plots, this would usually stink, but not this time. The graphics are great for such a huge game. The sound is cool because its not the typical star wars themes, there all new. The combat is really fun with excellent light shows with every weapon imaginable. The coolest thing is when you build your own lightsaber, pick your clothes, and choose your path darkness or light. If you go dark your facial features change to a demonic form. The best fifty bucks ive spent on a game.
Cool Star Wars RPG

I find the lack of faith of the other reviews disturbing.
I remeber seeing the first Star Wars movie at the movie theater - several times, and I bought my Xbox just to play this game. Yes the dialouge can be a bit melodramatic, but have you watched a Star Wars movie lately? The dialouge is SUPPOSE to be over the top...get over yourself.
Your actions influence your orientation to the light or dark side of the force and which force powers you will invest in later in the game. And hey, you get to become a Jedi - what more do you want?
I was happy to see that combat was turn based so old folks like me could still enjoy the game and not be put at a disadvantage. KOTR still manages to make combat exciting even as a turn based combat system.
The graphics were more than adequate, although the side games graphics were poor. Yes, improvements could have been made and Im sure some of the voiced complaints in previous reviews will be addressed. But if you like Star Wars and are above the age of 16, you will most likely enjoy this game!
A good plot but not tested enough

I had trouble with my game. I first bought it and then brought it home . The man who sold it to me told me that the game had glitches but i didnt care. I was so excited abut the brand new star wars edition Ididnt listen. I opened it up and put it in my xbox. It seemed to work fine. But as i got to the selection screen, it went blank. I did this over and over for 12 times but it didnt work. afetr that it was a good game. The plot and set up was excellent. the sound and graphics too. Once again the man told me that alot of the games were giched but you could go on with out any gliches. I guess Raven didnt test it enough.
It could have been so good!

I was very excited about purchasing this game. However, almost immediately I found the game to be very linear. That is, you can't just go around and fight monsters that respawn. There are specific quests with NPC's, monsters, and droids which you can battle. There are several stopping points where you cannot proceed without a walkthrough, because the actions you must take to get past that point are very exacting and there is no room for error. One place like this is where you see a full grown rancor. Attack it and you die. There is a pile of rubbish nearby with about ten miscelanious items within. You have to activate the correct two items in the correct order or you die. I never would've figured this out without the walkthrough. Once you clear an area of enemies, new ones do not appear and the old ones do not respawn. The treasure items you find are fixed, as in there are no random ones. I was hoping for Morrowind and got something more like Final Fantasy.

I went to Blockbuster to rent a game over the weekend, and came across this new release. I thought, why not, it looks interesting. Little did I know I would be up until 5am playing it the first night. I've logged 46+ hours in 5 days with this game. It has incredible graphics and sound fx, and strong storyline, and so many different things to explore. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!
