I would not count myself as one of the legions of Star Wars fanatics, but can say without any hesitation that this game is one of the best titles available for the Xbox. Apart from a varying storyline with characters you can actually like, this game provides gameplay that is both intense and controllable. Although it may seem akward at first, relying as it does on each character taking turns, the game truly pulls you in and in a very short time your going to be equipping your characters, shuffling force powers and setting course for a variety of worlds. And then there are all the sideline adventures/puzzles.
What I would recommend is that you purchase this game along with some food and water because you might not leave the house for a while.

KOTOR in my opinion is one of the best role-playing game I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. With 3 different classes to start out as and 3 different classes of Jedi to play this gives you 9 different game experiences. Then add to that the fact that as you play the game your decisions drive to the dark side or to the light it gives you 18+ ways to play the game. The force powers are easy to learn and the game is balanced enough that even the uber dark Jedi you face are beatable. The cut scenes and dialogs are superb. In my opinion the story in this game rivals any of the star wars movies.
On the downside: There are way to many "Loading" spots in the game. The graphics could have been a bit better. There are a couple of environments that are just silly and a waste of time (outer space and underwater). And last but not least the gun turret portions of the game are way to scripted i.e. fighter flies at you...you shoot fighter. Overall though, KOTOR is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played.

yeah it is cool

Man this game is alright people i think maybe hyped it up to much. I was looking forward into maybe playing a game that wasn't based off of a turn based system. It woul been a hole lot better if they developer's would have made it like Star wars jedi knight: Jedi outcast 2 it would have been way better. But over all this game was okay

Best RPG.....but.....

Yes, I agree this MIGHT be the greatest RPG game ever. (Considering how boring they all are) However, when compared to Lucas Art's previous games made,it stinks! I was REALLY DISSAPOINTED because I was expecting another action packed thrill like Starwars Jedi Outcast. It's NOTHING like them!!!!
The computer shoots your weapon and swings your lightsaber for you. What gets me angry is that you have to play for weeks so that it actually makes acurate shots! I was so agrivated when 3 of my guys lost to one just because all of my shots missed! If the game would actually let me fire my weapon, he'd be dead on the floor in a couple of seconds! Besides making you agrivated, depressed and bored, watching the computer fight for you takes away all the fun from actauuly playing yourself. Why not just watch a movie instead?
If you're a Starwars fan which loved the style of the previous Starwars game "Jedi Knight II-Jedi Outcast", wait for "Starwars Jedi Academy" (its sequal). But, if you never really could play those fun, action filled shoot'em up games (Turok Evolution, 007, Halo) buy it! It really It has a pretty good story, good graphics and doesn't require that much effort and practice.

ps. The only reason this is rated a good game is because of all the "weak minded" morons who rated it 5 stars before playing it. I just HAD to speak out about how bad this was because of all the false propaganda going on. I'm sorry, Lucas Arts and Bioware, if there was a negative star rating, I'd rate this game -3 out of -5 stars.

The Secret in the game

hi , i feel like givin away probably the biggest secret in the game or at least of wat i hav come up to in the game, im about 17 hours in,,,, anyways..... once u play the game a little ull find that darth malak (the main bad guy) was once an apprentce under a guy named darth revan, about 16 hours in the game u confront darth malak for the first time and he tells u a little secret, u are actually darth revan, wen bastilla and the strike team boarded ur ship in the sith war they captured u and took u bak to dantooine and basicly brainwashd u and gave u a new identity, so wen playing the game keep one thing in mind, that u are actually darth malaks master but with a new identity......

I have been waiting for this game for a long time. I was really angry when it was delayed, I thought it would ship around the christmas rush. But it has come out now and what can I say, supurb!
Most Star Wars games are either rubbish movie tie ins or just plain rubbish. But this was different. The branching storyline and the option to become a light or dark jedi makes this a top game. Worth playing more than once.
An essential purchase, the best game on x-box.

one of my all time favorites

Perhaps i am way too late in writing this review but nonetheless i'm writing one anyway! I remember seeing previews of Star Wars: KOTOR and thinking how incredible the game looked. I bought it when it came out which was a few years ago now and couldn't stop playing it. And here it is 2007 and i'm playing it again....Basically KOTOR is by far the best RPG ive ever played and why this game hasn't spawned more sequels is beyond me....but i'll get to that later.....My favorite thing about this game is the dialogue and being able to choose your own words, something you don't see to often in xbox games. Also the ability to be light or dark side makes the game even better.....i have played through this game about 4 times now, twice on the light side and twice on the dark. The first time i played this game i chose to take the path of the dark side simply because i had been denied that ability in previous games and put simply, i thought it would be fun to be the bad guy for a change....the game is incredibly realistic though in that some of the dark side dialogue will make you laugh and sometimes the things you say will leave you feeling somewhat guilty...I mainly just enjoyed picking on Carth the whole game though. You'll find that on the path of the dark side it is much easier to get what you want and personally i think it is much more fun...for instance, rather than having to do some long task for someone you can just kill them and move on...At one point you can dance with some girl to try and help win some audition but you can ruin it by taking a dive...the funny part is afterwards she confronts you about it and you can say right to her face "Look! You just weren't good enough to make the cut, Deal with it!!!" Or when Carth compains about being left out of the loop you can can just go "Aw, poor baby need some filling in?" which really irratates him...There are a million other situations similar to that though that i could talk about here. Also there are so many subplots in this game its crazy. In a good way that is....for example, you'll find that if you play as a male character you can sometimes be flirtatious with Bastilla in the things you say and if you keep it up long enough she will eventually show signs of possibly having feelings for your character, although i don't believe she ever comes right out and says it. Its just one of the little things that make this game much more interesting and like i said before, realistic...as many people have mentioned before the HK-47 droid is also very funny and if you're playing on the dark side i think you'll find him to be your best friend. He calls everyone a meatbag, and he never argues with your decisions, something Carth is all too annoying about doing....

You'll find that in this game there are so many places you can go as you can travel between worlds once you get the ebon hawk. mind you, there are only about 4 or 5 but thats still pretty good i think. There is Tatooine, which is basically a giant desert similar to the world Luke Skywalker from the movies lived on. (forgive me star wars fans, but the name of that planet has slipped my mind)....then there is Kashykk a huge forest, Korriban the Sith World, and Manaan which is a giant ocean. I'll be honest, i kind of hate manaan because if you say one mean word to someone you are fined like 200 credits. You'll have to play the game to understand fully....

You can play Pazaak with different people, which is basically like 21 black jack except 20. And you can race swoop bikes for credits, it's more fun than it sounds trust me. :)

I mentioned earlier that i thought this game should have more sequels and that it should...there was the 1, Star Wars: KOTOR 2 but it was somewhat of a disappointment...I mean, it was good i thought and some things were even better about it but the ulta-catchy dialogue from the 1st one was missing and that in itself makes this game worth playing. I just think they could have made that game much much better than they did but still i'm shocked we haven't seen more from Knights of the Old Republic. Maybe one day we'll see an even better edition on the 360. It's doubtful, but it would be awesome to say the least.

Other than that i could write pages apon pages or of reasons to buy this game but i feel i have already written too much....If you haven't played this game yet go buy it immediately! Also, it IS bc compatible so you can play it on your 360 provided you have xbox live. enjoy!

A Classic
