Great Game!

I really love this game. It has all the things I like, weapon upgrades, money to buy items, a good story line, etc. I want to try all the other Resident Evil games too. Its easy to play and understand.

Creepy, but slow: caution if RE4 (Wii) was your first RE experience

RE4 was one of the first games I played for Wii. It was also the first Resident Evil game I had played (I do not own a gamecube).
RE4 is extremely different from RE for gamecube.

RE4:
- better graphics
- more "shoot 'em up" style: tons of ammo, more killing, less walking around lost
- save whenever there's a typewriter
- you do not need a walkthrough, ever, if you are willing to spend 5 minutes to figure something out
- you can hold lots of weapons, herbs (health), and ammo.
- There is currency. You can upgrade and buy weapons from a merchant.
- fun (especially Wii version)

RE1:
- good graphics for its time; bad for the modern game
- you have to collect "ink ribbons" if you want to save. While generally there is a sufficient amount, it takes up space (see following bullet)
- conserve your ammo! walkthroughs suggest that you run past most zombies to conserve ammo. Also, you only have 6 spots, 8 with the girl to hold stuff. 6 spots is not enough. Sure, it makes it challenging, but soon it's annoying. 1 spot for handgun, 1 spot for handgun ammo, 1 spot for special item, 1 spot for herb, 1 spot for other gun, etc. it gets crowded, quickly.
- Creepy. All the walking around in the dark mansion makes it creepy, yes. And if you favor those kind of games instead of your standard HL shooter game, then by all means get it.

Amazing

Before this game, the only other Resident Evil game I had played was RE 4 on the Wii. Needless to say, I loved Re 4 and wanted to check out the older games too. I was very pleased to find out that the original had been remade for the GC and wasted no time ordering a copy.

I was shamelessly addicted to this game from start to finish. The graphics are amazing considering it's a game from 2002, the look of the various baddies will scare the crap out of you. The music is the one point I found to be weak in this game, it's sort of your usual horror ambient music and nothing more. The story is very dark and disturbing, one you might expect from a game called 'Resident Evil' but it's dark and disturbing in a very great way!

When it all comes down, this game is easily one of the best I've played and highly recommend it to any fans of horror or puzzle games.

Resident Evil Remake The Reviewing

Here's a good example of how to re-make a game, a complete graphical overhaul and in the case of RE the addition of decent voice-actors. The latter improvement might not be as welcome to the people who truly appreciate the original's cheesy voice acting and occasionally nonsensical dialog ("Your our amazon, Jill!"). Despite the removal of its cheesy charm it more than makes up for it in pure atmosphere which is creepy as hell. So I think that more than makes up for it. Also there are many more jump type scares than in the original. The controls...well if you have played a RE game before (barring 4 and non-cannon games) than you know the controls are about as intuitive and responsive as a catatonic donkey, and yes that's a hyperbole, deal with it. The controls do add to the terror, so maybe they were horrifyingly intentional. Also the graphics hold very well to today's standards (except the weird shadows) and just looks great. So if you're just curious you might like it if you are just looking for something scary with a decent plot and fans, like myself, why aren't you clicking buy already? There's my first review, so I end off with a nice celebratory, w00t!

Resident Evil (remake for gamecube)

All you guys should know this game by now, but if you don't, then go out there and buy it! (Hubbagames has my blessings =) )

This game is just perfect, specially this version for the Nintendo Gamecube. Nice graphics, almost the same history as the original version for Play Station, more horror!!!!

I have been playing the game for the last couple days, and I don't want to stop! I don't think I want to get to the end of the game hehe.

Well, if you want to know anything else, if you are really a Resident Evil fan, then you should be playing this game right now instead of reading my review!

I recommend you to play Resident Evil Zero first in order to understand the story, well, if you are new to this game.

Good luck fellows!!!

The old PlayStation game revamped in some righteous ways. Better game play, better graphics, all new areas to explore. The code seemed to have been cleaned-up quite a bit.

A Very Good Game

The Resident Evil for gamecube (REmake) is actually a very good game. with updated graphics and creepy monsters, you have to add this title to your collection. Everything is beautiful, from the characters, to the plot, to the mansion. The only problem, which is the problem with lots of people, is the control. Yes, its confusing, and yes its hard to get used to. But its not that big of a deal. Its made that way to make the game more creepier than it already is. So really, this is a good game to get for the low price.

It's a remake and it's still scary but the game overall is slightly annoying even on the easiest difficulty, from how many hits your character can withstand to inventory spaces to backtracking. It's a good game. I'd give it a 4.3 for gameplay and 4.7 for overall. If you like the classic Resident Evil series, this one is gonna scare the hell out of you. Remeber, "Turn out the lights, Lock the doors..." and well, possibly live the nightmare! Its a must have for RE fans.

Holds up today

Ive recently started playing this game again-I had a disc that needed to be cleaned and never got around to it.Im glad I finally did.

You know by now that you will hate the controls until you master basic movement. But honestly the rest of the controls are so simple, it doesnt take you away from what you should be doing, soaking up the atmosphere. And this is one of the few games that can make you feel like your in a creepy old mansion. The look and feel of this game is the highest level possible, and to this day looks beautiful. In a blood splattered, broken window way.

If theres one thing ugly about the game, its the puzzles. But they need to be.You need to get lost in the mansion for a bit to get the mood right.Running through areas and taking damage and then realizing that you didnt need to be there until another hour or so can stress you out, while remembering key locations and making it back and forth is rewarding and really has hooked me on this game.I usually try not to play the longer games nowadays because of long work hours, but if you have a few hours to yourself you can get pretty far once your in the groove.

My local Gamestop has about three copies of this in stock right now for cheap prices. The site your on now has quite a few too.If you have a wii or a gamecube, you might want to check this out.Who its not for-- People with little free time, people who need fast paced shooting action, and children. I say children because besides the obvious reasons of gore, the game itself will be too hard for them to get anything but frustration out of it.Its not actually "fun" in the sense that you are enjoying every moment. Its a creepy whats going to happen next film that you control, and if thats what you want, this is great.

Although I have not personally played this particular game, I gave it as a Christmas Present to my brother who is an avid gamer. He reports the game is "excellent" and is providing many hours of gaming enjoyment.
